Things that annoy me (4 Viewers)

Someone from China just won 5 of the lots i am selling on ebay, each lot contained 4 Del Prado mounted figures with magazines. Packed them and was waiting for payment, now they have all of them, claiming all bought in error. nothing i can do but send out second offers and block them from bidding in the future.

I can run my air conditioning 24 hours a day, 366 days a year (have to account for leap year) in Texas and my electric bill is barely $100 per month.

I can use nothing in California except my refrigerator and home alarm (when I travel I am often away for 30 days at a time) and the monthly bill is $200. If I actually spend significant amounts of time there the bill can be $350 without A/C, etc.

And please do not get me started on the water bills when comparing both states.
I'm paying $0.113919/kWh to my Energy provider...
I wish all 12 months for me were barely $100 each...
peak summertime is over 2 times that... ...
at best I go under $100 maybe 2-3 times a year...

Between gas & electric, we pay about $300/mo.
But most of this is our fault. We need new windows. Mum insists on maximum light and heat. And 3 people live in this house for many hours/day (we don't get out enough...).
Our particular area actually has lower-than-average prices for delivery. My old condo had a guy who came to offer better delivery charges by switching providers. It was a hassle to start, a hassle every month, and saved us about $5-8/mo. So we went back to "normal".
Sad to hear that energy isn't cheap even where they have oil and a diverse energy system (TX).
Still, I'm more worried about Health Care costs personally so our fam will just take it in the wallet:rolleyes:.

Iran or at least its leadership. The world has been dealing with them for 50 plus years. It's ridiculous that anyone thinks diplomacy is going to end their support of terrorism. They just murdered thousands of their own people without hesitation. Not people that can be reasoned with. They just draw out the matter and are emboldened when nothing happens. They only understand one form of communication. Strength. They are buzzing around US warships again in military speedboats. I can't imagine why the US navy doesn't blow those boats out of the water. I'm not a big fan of US sponsored regime change since the aftermath is almost always screwed up, but if there were ever a place and time for it, it is in Iran.

Paddy...
that's the same reason I don't shop for another cable provider...it's a HUGE HASSLE...
were you using subsidized assistance from the Affordable Care Act...and if so...did you premiums increase significantly?
Just curious...
you can respond via private message if you prefer...or I can send you my phone number if that's easier...

I didn't hear about the speedboats...but were you aware they shot down an Iranian drone that made an "aggressive move" towards a US warship a few days ago?

Yup, drones and now speedboats. You just have to wonder, why are they poking at us? Just like the nuclear facility, where they kept going and going and going, then BOOM. I think the same thing is about to happen. Well, just look at the history of the "Persian Empire" , that is all you have to do. I really don't want to be in there at all and certainly not long term. If we do anything, I would rather a covert operation to rid the Supreme Leader(s), all of them. They are off the deep end.

Mike may not like what he is paying now compared to past, but I can assure you Texas is one of the lowest priced electricity areas in the USA and it is because of their overall energy policy and resources. Now, if you really want irony - look at California - the supposed leader in renewable energy......................................worst prices in the Country, worst infrastructure, worst regulations - do you get the point? Corruption and mismanagement should be a tagline for California.

As I quoted previously, Maryland is absolutely one of the worst.

Health Care is unfortunately a different topic and universally screws us all. When we negotiated our (my business) healthcare this year, our broker said - "You guys are very fortunate, only a 15% increase".........................huh? Our claims last year honestly were virtually NIL other than routine (we of course don't get personal information, but we can review our overall history as to not to violate our employees). We are a small business - 20 people. This has been a disaster since about 1988 throughout every administration and political party. None of them have ever figured out a fix. You can't have socialized medicine or else we would be like Canada and France (system is broken about September of every year), nor can we afford The UK"s system, so I really don't know what you do about it. On the other side of the coin, I have a cousin who is a neuroradiologist who went to very expensive schools and he honestly should be one of the highest paid people out there with that skillset and he is getting screwed too IMO. SO - who is winning.............Insurance companies. End of the day, you want them to be competitive, not predatory and collusion with Drug makers, BUT why is that? Corrupt politicians on both sides of the aisle in our Country. Do you ever wonder how senators and representatives take office nearly BROKE, but 4 to 8 years later, they are millionaires? How does one explain, for example, Illan Omars meteoric wealth rise in 3 years of financial statement filings as a mere junior house of representative refugee from Somalia???? I really think our Insurance and Drug Companies could be some of the culprits here. But what do I know?

But this is something that does annoy me and I view it as something everyone should be pissed about. IF you are a public figure, your financial positions should be fully and thoroughly audited and investigated when you have large wealth gains. It is very easy to do - all publicly traded Companies are audited YEARLY and I can tell you, when there are swings, they are investigated, why not public officials? How did the Clintons go from broke to wealth? Reagan, Bush(s) and Trump are hard to look at as they are all very wealthy families. But look at Biden..............he was not. I think maybe Carter was one of the cleanest? Maybe. See my point, something is rotten and it should not be that hard to find out in today's electronic reporting world - for example, if you sell a 600 figure on ebay, the Government knows you did it!!!!!!!!!!!!

No rock salt around here. I can't even get cat litter for my kitty's boxes. Seems like this cold is going to last forever. I'll take a little global warming right now.

When it comes to healthcare the politicans make me sick. They are suppose to be serving the people but they will not sit down together and hammer out something for the people. They are too busy fighting it out for their party. If they cared about the US and the people they serve  instead of their parties (and themselves) we really would have a great country.

True...I'm only complaining about increases over past prices...but I was complaining years ago about them too...:)

I'm not too worried about aerial drones or speedboats. More worried about undersea drones, the type that Ukraine used against Russia and mining the Strait of Hormuz.

Only 'cuz you're in Hawaii!
Just kidding. I'm sure the Navy agrees with you.
Best Wishes and Keep our outpost safe (and yourselves, obviously:))

Thanks for the help as always Mike. But I don't think IL, or the US for that matter, cares about people who fall through the cracks.
I don't use ACA, I just paid into Blue Cross/Blue Shield for years because I was rarely employed by a company that actually gave medical benefits (my fault, sort of.) Even $600/mo. is high for me. Maybe if I went to the doc more it would be worth it.
Thank you again for your kindness and willingness to help.
Best Wishes to All and, if in the US, keep that job with good insurance
Paddy
