Things that annoy me (8 Viewers)

No big deal, they're only calling for 18 to 24 inches here of heavy wet snow, high winds, blizzard conditions.

What a horrendous winter this has been, cold AND storm after storm, usually it's one or the other, not both.

It's times like this where I am glad I live in a condo, let someone else break their hump shoveling and plowing.
Great for your Stalingrad display. If only the Rams were playing.

RFK pushes anti-vax platforms based on nonsense while promoting his own “wellness alternatives” that net him millions.

Big Pharma pushes over priced drugs and vaccines that are sold out while crying about regulations that limit their sales.

Health insurance lobbyists give 50% of their donations to Republicans and 50% to Demonstrate in a we can’t lose strategy.

While everyday people like me with a debilitating disease literally pay for all of this greed via suffering and untimely death.

I am really looking forward to the “my side is better than yours” response to this.
Yes Big Pharma is greedy as hell. I take a medication that if I had to pay for would be $16,000 a month. Thankfully I'm in a program where I don't have to pay anything or I would be a dead man.

How giddy the weathermen get when the next storm of the century is about to clobber us, they get all tingly in their junk over a blizzard rolling in with 60 MPH winds and predicted 2 feet of accumulation.

Morons.

It's tough enough coping with health issues in Australia, my heart goes out to my American forum friends that literally cannot afford decent health care.

This banner is the latest step in Trump’s efforts to put his stamp on Washington and use its landmarks to exert his influence. A banner featuring a photo of Donald Trump and the words “Make America Safe Again” was hung from the Justice Departments headquarters in Washington on Thursday in one of the most public signs of the president’s influence over a department that once brought criminal charges against him.

“Shameful”...“Hanging that banner should put to rest any doubt that Donald Trump has hijacked the independence of the Justice Department. He — not the American people — is the only client DOJ’s current leadership serves,” Stacey Young, a Justice Department veteran said.

The Justice Department has traditionally operated with a degree of independence from the White House. That separation, however, has eroded during Trump’s second term as the Justice Department has gone after his perceived political foes.

Prior to turning 65, I had health insurance through the Massachusetts small business association, it started out 20 or so years ago at about 600.00 a month; the last year I had it, it basically doubled to 1200.00 a month and again, that's with a discount, not to mention, every office visit/urgent care trip required a 50.00 copay, then I'd often have to pay more to see a specialist or for lab work.

I was blessed to be in good health during that 20 year run, so no major expenses aside from the monthly premiums, now I am on Medicare which pays 80% and a supplement that covers the other 20% plus prescription drugs, my total cost monthly now is about 400.00, I also have a 400.00 yearly deductible, so I am paying about 1/3rd of what I used to pay.

oh yea...
and thank God for those supplemental policies...smartest thing I ever bought...
same thing...about $350 a month...
it's a little pricey...but the surgeries I have had in the last 3 years were financially outrageous...
if I had to pay that 20%....it would have put a serious dent in my monies...
and yes...any drug in my formulary is covered...
you're lucky...stay healthy...

Mike-
I think if the political posts continue that this thread will be deleted. Which would be a real shame given that we discuss a variety of topics. How about starting your own thread on politics if you want to discuss it? I'm not adverse to discussing politics but would not like to see this thread deleted if that is the policy of the forum. And I do find it amusing that those who post political opinions object to politics being discussed when others respond. But that is how it works. Again, nothing personal and I have no objection to your voicing your opinions. Laker fans have to stand to together even if we disagree.

Doug...is this "warning" only to me?

or is this a group warning including you?

there are literally 100's of posts with this theme by dozens of Froggers on here...

Julie said to keep it clean...

I'm being very civil...never resort to name calling...not being ugly...just stating facts...

posting news stories in a thread you started on "things I don't like"...

you singled me out...mentioned only me by name???

Lakers and Boston on NBC/Peacock at 5:30 Central...Austin Reaves is back...he was sorely missed...good luck...

It's not a warning. Unlike some others in the history of this forum, I do not consider myself a moderator who lectures others on what is permissible to discuss. I was just responding to the recent criticisms expressed by some members about political posts on this thread. Ironically after they post highly incendiary political posts. And only in response to those political posts that they disagree with. Rather than an objection to political posts, the objection is to expressing contrary opinions to their own. It is my understanding that Julie prefers that we not discuss politics. Or at least not do so in an uncivil way. And doing so risks the deletion of this long standing thread. I merely responded to your post because it is the most recent on this thread, political, and controversial. Meaning that responses will be equally so. My suggestion is to start a separate thread on politics if there is a need to discuss and let Julie sort out whether that is permissible. You can do that or not as see fit, though. Thanks for the tip on the Lakers. I didn't realize they were playing today. And any win against the hated Celtics is a good one.

Wow George, no wonder Health insurance seems like a luxury to some US citizens, those prices are outrageously expensive, at least by Australian standards.

This thread has mainly been a collection of random, sometimes witty rants, usually by grumpy old forum members, including myself.

However I'm sure I'm not the only member that feels it has been used too often lately for venting political opinions.

I have no interest in moderating, just noting that Politics has long been banned on this forum, more latitude has been allowed by the current owner but some members have been bending the rules too far imo.

Your recent claims that this thread may be deleted is a bit pathetic frankly, you start a thread encouraging trash fires then complain when they get out of control.

This from the same guy who refers to the President of the United States as "Herr Trump" implying that he is Hitler and posts anti-ICE videos. Then lectures Americans who respond about not posting about politics. That's really rich. If you can't handle contrary opinions and think politics has been banned on this forum, maybe don't interject politics into the discussion.

I never made a kings ransom as a police officer but our retirement benefits are fantastic. I pay "zero" for health insurance. For years my wife had Blue Cross-Shield at around $400 a month. We finally looked into one of those plans , I really don't know the formal name for this type of insurance but she now has Aetna. No monthly premiums however there is a $3600 deductable per year. Last year when all was said and done we saved over $3600. I was skeptical about this plan but completely changed my tune.

No that's implying something else about him, you clearly have some issues with comprehension, watch that ICE video again, it was not anti-ICE.

What exactly are you implying when you call the President of the United States "Herr Trump"? He is not German. So spin us a yarn.

The Lakers are a hot steaming mess even with Luka playing at an MVP level. Painful to watch. No defense. No hustle. No desire. Nice to see Pat Riley get his statue, though. Unfortunately, it reminds me how great those 80s Laker teams were in comparison to this mess.
