Reading the Death Penalty arguement and it mirrors the arguement i have myself, especailly on a long drive, i can throw the issue back and forward and still not come up on one side,
Whether you have the right person/people is one arguement, firstly think with todays technology in a lot of cases there is no doubt, but there still needs time before the sentence is carried out to let the passions settle, just in case.
More than one person on the forum says they are willing to do it and bring back the death penalty, but are you so for it you willing to do it if you have to sign a document that says if after you have bought it back and there is single person killed whom is later found not to have done it then guess what you are a murderer, and should therefore be executed. in other words are you willing give your life if there is a mistake.
I understand the rage, member expressed forum, of losing someone in a terror attack, our family lost an uncle in the Birmingham bombings and i lost mates who i served with in NI. So understand. Also lost a couple of mates in the Falklands, but that was somehow different, as those we were fighting had a uniform and were willing to stand so called 'toe to toe', not plant a bomb and run away or attack the unarmed and/or innocent.
My main arguement on the death penalty is, I am not sure it is a punishment? I hear pro for it from a lot of religious people, or those that claim to be. But when they are dead does that not mean they go to heaven and/or paradise? Are all your sins not forgiven? No punishment there. However, i do feel prisons can be soft on the evil. For people serving life, without parole, there is a no rehabilitaion, they should be locked in a cell, no visits, no TV, no radio, no stimulants, no human contact, no personal news, fed through a slot in the door, healthy life perserving foods, no treats. If they go mad, so be it, they add no value to humanity, so keep them away from it, so they are dead to the rest of the world. After a period of time they get the choice to take a drug and die, then cremated and buried under the courtyard where they get their exercise, so they will forever, part of them, remain within those walls.
Plus just think of what their life is like, no pub, no takeaways, no days out in the mountains, the beach, etc. no family birthdays, graduations, christmas gatherings, no Toy Soldiers, there are lots of things that will be a little stab of punishment all of the time. Therefore their punishment is those that survived living the best life they can, remembering those that did not in a joyful way and realising just how poor the person that did it life is and will be day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, decade upon decade.
I say this above, but i know there are individuals i would willingly 'make unalive', guy who did the attack in Southport, 2 guys who killed Lee Rigby, Manchester bomber, Huntly [before he went] and many others, so bit hypocritical of me. Shows like me, many on this forum see the death penalty as a personal thing, we want it for those we can relate too and that is not good for bringing something to cover everyone and every murder or such crime.
