It appears then that the cannon (on the Dhow) that Tom is purchasing is also correct.

Very true! Well, I feel good on that part, my wallent is still weeping, should be a full fledged Niagra Falls when I pay up!!!!
Just kidding, this is a centerpiece for me regarding Boats, I like boats and have a number.
I just recently added the original all wood Conte Viking Ship.
World War 2 items are starting to lose their allure..................

Tom: Congratulations on your buy. As an added bonus, now we know what to look for in a dhow. The next time Martyn talks to Len, maybe he can find out how many Len made.Despite the expense I am sure it will be the Jewel in your Crown Tom. It is a neat looking boat to be sure![]()
I’ve found the original Trophy description of the Dhow from one of my old catalogues, along with two promo pictures
The Trophy Dhow was supplied with 4 figures, anyone who has a Trophy Dhow with more than four figures have a bonus
Please note the original selling price

Hi Martyn,
The Arab Dhow serves to underscore the value of Trophy catalogues, flyers and other documentation in the ID of retired sets.
One can be quite at sea in the ID and inventory of Trophy sets without the necessary references.
Raymond.

Dear Raymond:
Splendid looking Dervish Nile River boat! Really nice photo! By any chance did you indentify this Trophy boat model & figures from a Trophy catalog you purchased in early April 2009?
Best regards, Gary / "Iron Brigade"
Hi Gary,
I was referring to Martyn's (GICOP) post #20 in which he kindly posted the relevant Trophy literature on the dhow.
Judging by the font and pagination (ie Page 41), this came from an earlier Trophy catalogue / flyer which I do not have.
So, the ID verification credit goes to Martyn.
There was much interest in the dhow after it appeared at the MFCA show at Valley Forge last weekend.
Thanks, Raymond.

Tom,
The dhow is missing two figures - I will be happy to take it off your handsCongrats!
Just wanted to clarify that I was having a little bit of fun with Tom. The dhow that Tom is getting has a complete set of four figures.
Had another fascinating chat with Len today
He is still “in the wars” but steadily getting his strength back.
Here is the definitive answer to a question I have been asked on a number of occasions----
Does the paint dot on the base of the figures mean anything?
This is the answer from Len this morning
At any one time there were up to 12 outworkers assembling and painting figures. To allow the correct worker to be contacted if there was any problem with the assembly or painting Len gave each of the workers a colour code, simple and effective method of quality control
Cheers

Hi Martyn,
Thanks for the answer about the coloured dots on the bases.
I guess only Len would know the who's who of the colour code system.
Len did ask a question which I have no clue as to the answer ie how the name Trophy came to be ?
Maybe the next chat ?

Martyn,
Please give my best wishes to Len.
I don't think he would have envisaged a collector of Trophy from the half way around the globe.
Thanks, Raymond.![]()

Dear Raymond:
As I recall my "Trophy miniatures history" the name "Trophy" relates to all the "trophy's" Len Taylor won when he entered contests with his figures prior to going into business full time in circa 1972 or 1973.
Best regards,
