Who Collects Individual K&C Figures ? (1 Viewer)

I have from time to time picked up individual K&C figures that interest me and just put them into my collection. Usually - I find them at Toy Soldier Shows being sold as individual figures and I buy them with the idea using the figure later in a display or just displaying them be themselves.

Does anyone else collect K&C figures that way ??

Just bought a single figure from a d-day commando set that I saw advertised in the UK. Don't see that to often here to be able to do this

I only collect Napoleonics, so I only buy individual figures when they could complement nicely one of my existing dios (e.g. the drinking party or the prisonner vignette).

I collect individuals...I will in time have a dedicated display for the individuals...then when and if needed they can be transported in time to other displays nearby.

I have lots of individual figures in my collection from a wide variety of era's. I do that just to have a small sample to display. In fact the majority of my collection is this way.

I am not sure I get what you mean, aren't most of them sold as individual figures? or are you talking about sets that have been broken up for whatever reason?

K&C makes some very good personality figures as single figure sets.

There are also several non-personality single figure sets too.

Somehow I think Ron is referring to individual figures from split sets.

I was talking about split sets - but, it can apply to single figures as well.

Many figures in the split sets become a real collectors piece - because they can't be bought usually without buy the entire set. Set break up for various reasons - thus leaving these special jewels out for the next Toy Soldier Show. I think it is one of those great "finds" you have at a Toy Soldier Show - for not that much money.

Just interested if everyone else shares this observation.

Sometimes if you buy split sets you can put a set together cheaper than buying it new. I have done that with a couple of old retired sets. I missed an auction last night where I could have added a WS 02 figure, which would have given me two thirds of the set at a cost far less than buying the whole set. You just have to be patient

I think split sets also occur when a dealer has damage to a set, say 2 figures damaged, 2 ok.

Cannot see the harm in splitting sets if you wish. I think this way collectors and dealers are taking a bigger risk that in the long run they will be left with more sets. I know some people who really love this idea and some not as they do not get boxes etc. I have had people contact me to repaint two from a set and leave two original. Once they are bought they are your property and, IMO this is another can of worms which, K&C will not and could not intervene in.

When I started collecting K & C I used to cherry pick my fav figures from split sets but then decided it was more cost effective to buy complete sets in terms of freight. In addition if you need to resell on eBay there is as much time involved in listing one figure as there is a complete set.
