With a few days to go until D-Day, what can we expect for September. There is talk of Napoleonice for our friend Mr Warrior, there is a rumour of North Africa and Andy himself has mentioned another vehicle for our brave RAF chaps sweeping the Hun from the skies over southern Britain, tally Ho!

We are also (in dispatch terms) approaching Bulge season but it could be a bit early for that just yet. So what are you hoping for guys?. I myself wouldn't mind a quiet month for Sept, and have still to get my Spitfire and ambulance yet.

Surely there must be something new soon from King & Country for their popular Medieval Crusades series. Two other companies have recently introduced very nice Medieval Crusades releases, so the competition is growing for that era. That's the only era I collect. I'm glad to see there are now two other companies to pick from.

If I had unlimited budget I'd get myself some of the Crusaders,they always look very colourful and full of dramatic poses,great series.

If you look back at this years releases notwithstanding the RAF I think we should be looking towards Afrika without sounding as if there is nothing in them they do need some soft skins vehicles or motorcycles for both sides.

I would also like to see some 8th Army artillery 17/25 pounders would be welcome as would some AK artillery

I think Rob is right we will get some RAF vehicles as the anniversary covers Aug and sept.

I don't think Andy knows what a quiet month is so I am sure all will be more pleased than not

Yes I must say I'm really pleased that this summer as we remember that History changing victory K&C have really stepped up to the plate and given us a wave of RAF releases for this excellent range. (for anyone wanting an enjoyable read about the battle check out James Holland's 'Battle of Britain-Five months that changed History' )

As you say Mitch, one might expect some North African releases about this time of year and I hope one day Andy may make the Kettenrad again, this time in Desert camo. Also we've had a Summer and Grey Kubel,I wonder if Rommel needs a ride to Tunisia in a new desert version?.

I also agree that with the range depth and quality of K&C's recent releases I'm sure most folk will be smiling at something in dispatches.

Did not mention the kettenkraftrad as CS did one and, did not know if K&C would do one but, they were great looking vehicles and would be a great addition

Tropical ME109

"Nawratil" Schiess was one of the most aggressive fighter pilots during the air war over Tunisia and Sicily in 1943. On December 4, 1942 he participated in the annihilation of a formation of twelve RAF Bisley bombers over Tunisia. Schiess claimed his 27th victory in this combat. In February. 1943 he was appointed Staffelkapitan 8/JG 53. On April 5, 1943, when Allied fighters destroyed twenty-four Ju 52 transport aircraft in the air and on the ground in Tunisia, Oberleutnant Schiess downed a Spitfire, thereby achieving his 40th victory. By this time, Schiess still wrote of "wonderful aerial combats" in his letters home.

Even though his Staffel was eventually transferred back to Sicily, the eager Schiess each morning flew to Tunisian airfields., from where he took off on combat missions until evenings, when he returned to Sicily. Early May 1943, as fighting spirit among Luftwaffe airmen in this theater of war soared, Schiess stated that the dogfights gave him a "lot of fun."

In July 1943, his superiors sent him home on leave. Back in action in August 1943 - now as acting Gruppenkommandeur of III/JG 53 - Franz Schiess shot down twelve U.S. planes in twelve days, his last (and 67th) victory a P-38 on August 30. Over the Gulf of Naples on September 2, 1943, two P-38s drove off Schiess's wingman, whereafter several other P-38s inspiring fighter was a hard blow to III/JG 53.

Do you think we would get another 'warbird for the paupers' release so soon? It will come but, I would expect more BOB releases for those who want to fill the range.

Well we know German stuff is coming from the previous releases!

So maybe some German medics?Or a mortar crew?

Maybe an RAF anti-aircraft crew and bofors gun?

But personally I am hoping for more British Armour, but that is very unlikely!

Thats what is so good about this new RAF range, there is huge scope for all sorts of airfield related machinery and crew. An AA position would be right on the money for me, at this rate I'll have to build my airfield in the garden.

I'd love to see a set featuring WAAF's around the map table plotting incoming Nazi's and the RAF Squadrons going up to meet them. These girls did a wonderful job and stayed at their posts risking death and injury, big respect to all of them

The possibilities for the RAF range are endless if you want a full airfield dio with all the bits its only patience and money that will be a concern. Oh! and a good bit of room to show it all.
