Dispatches pictures coming through! (1 Viewer)

Perhaps as you are back to thinking what you like then, a bit of courtesy to other collectors and not have the silly digs for their collecting choice would be appreciated. I know all about the DSM and, you seemingly cannot help trying to be abusive as if it were not for people who feel the need to have a pop at collectors and manufactures personally, instead of addressing the sets and their quality etc these discussions would not have to take place as often.

Your psychological interpretation of those who collect is not required you are not qualified to offer an opinion on the mental state of a collector as its not your field and you have never met them.

I also recall from psychology that those who scream and critique about something have certain psychological issues needing addressed. Perhaps, those who hate the range so much may secretly be the nazi's they accuse others of. an interesting psychological interpretation should you wish to look it up

I am happy to debate the sets but, its certainly not I who insult people over their collecting choices
Mitch

Psychiatrist not psychologist. Collect what you like and others can think what they like. Death metal, serial killers the occult lots of people are interested in these non mainstream things. If you spend a lot of money on something read a lot about it, think about it all the time talk about it frequently then I wonder how you define that "a hobby, an interest, an obsession" You will find the DSM III quite flexible on some of these definitions. It is all a bit of a spectrum I suppose. That is why I never liked psychiatry

Lancer..

True but, their hand painted flags put me off the range they looked very poorly done IMO
Mitch

True. Black Hawk also had a line of LAH but I have never seen them and don't know it they ever hit the market. -- Al

A very interesting discussion: I have a fair amount of LAH parade figures... I personnally think they have "Historical Significance" for my collection...I even collected "the refugees" as for me it depicted the oppression of people by the Nazi's Invasion.... The question is "When is Enough Enough??"..(And rest assured there are limits to everything)....For me that line was crossed with the Berghoff and the drunken disorderly SS...Now we have the Hilter Youth....Give me a break.....This is simply becomming distasteful and "plain dumb" IMO....I don't blame some people for speaking out against the LAH series; because at this point I may be necessary to reject what is clearly objectionable.

Vezzolf...

Thats fine and your opinion which is great. Nowhere in your response did you feel the need to try and lord it over those who collect what you find distasteful or belittle them with Morality or now the DSM. That is the difference dispise the range and express that but, nobody has the right to impose their morality sufficiently to abuse those that do and, thats what is happening on here.

May I ask did you study the DSM whilst reading US criminal law?
Why do you not climb off your high horse for a brief second and acknowledge that a lot of people find the Nazis and Nazi related hobbies a bit problematic. I have great difficulty with Nazi era re-enactors as well. If you collect a controversial theme you must be prepared to defend it.

Having my cake and eat it high horse what else. I have just said that I have studied law and criminology and have read a good bit about the DSM. My wife is US so, being interested in the law and working in it its obvious I am interested in both legal systems. One of my wifes family members was also an Attorney General and, I had looked into undertaking the New York Bar exams. Is that enough information. It does seem that some US posters on here seem unable to find that a non US resident would Know a lot about the country. Now, thats as much personal info I will give

So, whatever your point here and I have a good idea what it was then this should put that to rest once and for all.

I have no high horse position and do not lord over anyone my collecting tastes ets but, when poor arguments against are offered and personal attacks for no reason be they aimed at me or a collecting group I am involved in then I am going to respond.

Should you have taken the time to look at my posts you will see I am completely aware of the reasons why people may dislike this range and, have said nothing to those who dislike it apart from when spurious arguments or personal attacks are made. I have also not defended the regime just the range and, again, it seems something which some cannot grasp that you can collect a range without any emotion to its background or, then I go back to the Waffen SS and that should be controversial but, its acceptable to many . The real life link actioned towards the parade figures does not seem to strech to the rest of the regime Luftwaffe Heer etc.

Was that a subtle steer back to the thread? It'd be most unusual, but I'll give it a go.

Sandbags Defence Line - $55 - 174 sandbags in total (approx $0.31 per sandbag)
Sandbags Gun Position - $55 - 214 sandbags in total (approx $0.26 per sandbag)

Conclusion - Gun position is cheaper than defence.

Not sure where I was going with this......^&confuse

So if it is pretty much K&C making LAH figures (and a few from CS, then perhaps the K&C threads are the proper place to discuss LAH. At least until some others start producing, if they do.

Anywhere you are going with this is fine.

Conversions back and forth to one another need to be done with pm's this is growing quite tiresome. If this continues we may have no option but to infract and or close the thread. Come on guys lets behave like adults.

I understand perfectly well that you can collect all sort of things dispassionately. Even some pretty unusual things like video nasties or extreme heavy metal. As I have been trying to point out however you then have to expect questions and raised eyebrows from people who do not collect these things. The general tenor of this thread has been how dare any one find my collection "problematic" That is simply unrealistic and unfair. I agree it is a toy soldier collector forum. That means people should be free to debate the morality of collecting these figures as well as the aesthetics. Apart from the use of my word fetish I have not taken a stand on the morality of the issue. I really do not care what anyone choses to collect. I just don't like being told that it is moralistic posturing to have a problem with the LAH range. According to you I as an "allegedly intelligent" person has been taking pop shots at the hard done by LAH collectors of the world.

Scott,

In the interest of not having this thread closed down, is it possible to move the related posts elsewhere?

Cheers,

Guys, we generally either love them or hate them, all sides have had their say, can we get back to Dispatches, I would hate this thread to be shut down or anyone get infracted.

Sound advice Rob, it's the same garbage over and over. It is tiresome and perhaps until people can start behaivng with respect, infractions maybe the way to go.

After 3 years here I still find the childishness hard to believe.

This post doesn't need to be replied to by the way. Let's just leave it and move on.

Well I was watching Arsenal vs Newcastle in a restaurant. At half time it was 4-0 to Arsenal. I left thinking it was pretty much all over. I looked on the net an hour later it was a 4-4 draw. Then the mighty Wolves take down Man U. What a weekend.

thebritfarmer...

Then possibly, it would be quite good should it be clearly stated that personal knocks that have been bandied around should be refrained from. Infractions in relation to this seem to occur to me not those who insult albeit very subtly. Yet I am infracted for saying aI would like to have a bit of peace to address the release of sets with fellow collectors.

Does not seem rather fair there is a clear distinction here and some are not following it
