This is my virgin message on this or any site.K&C do a great job on there toy soldiers.Being a South east Asian company is this the reason they have not done the Vietnam series . So much good history here on both sides.I would like to see Australian and U.S soldiers in action together as the Two countrys have shared so much blood in battlefields overs the years.I have a older brother who only started to march on ANZAC day two years ago who is now proud of what he did way back then.Is there any other collectors out there who would like to see this series.Maybe if Andy at K&C can see how many there is out there he may want to run a special edition .I would love to see Long tan & kae san as limited editions. To you K&C love you work the best . Regards Tankman1.

Hi There and welcome to the forum. This a great place and hope you have fun.Unfortunately i get the feeling that Vietnam is just not that popular.Apart form the hugely popular WW2 series Andy is producing WW1,ACW this year with K&C UK doing the Crimea.Of course its always possible for Vietnam stuff in the future, but i just don't see it as a big seller. But who knows what Andy will come up with next!

Rob

Welcome to the Madhouse!!

K&C have done a Vietnam range in teh early days. Was excellent with action figures and helicoptors etc. All goes for a price now if you find it.

Louis will be able to fill you in on the range as i think is is one that he has the entire range of

Hey Simpson,

I would also love to see K&C do vietnam again but I do notice that it is most likely not going to happen. I have also been trying to get my hands on the old sets but they are a rare find.

Welcome aboard Simpson/Tankman. K&C did do an amazing Vietnam series for the time period (mid-1990's), including Air Cav, Big Red One (1st Infantry Division) 2 Marines sets, Vietnamese Villagers, Viet Cong, Huey helicopters, wood/resin and metal M113 APC's, an M48 Duster Tank, as well as Firebase and Tet Offensive Street Scene Dioramas. You can see photos of all of this stuff in the shots of my collection on the forum. I have been begging Andy to readdress the series for years, and he once indicated he intended to, but more recently told me it wasn't going to happen any time soon.

In my opinion one of the best series King & Country has done. Each figure

has wonderful detail and no two appear to be exactly alike. I have the series

with a wonderful Firebase, chopper, and numerious M113 APC's.

It is not as large a series as many others, so if you seek it out, you should

be able to locate it.

I would be happy to answer any questions you might have if I can.

Welcome ..Good to have another aussie on board ...:) ern.

Welcome Simpson & his Donkey. And as Ernie said, us Aussies need more reinforcements. Hey, we have a few Kiwi members here as well so maybe we should form an ANZAC defence against forum invaders from the North ;)

King & Country make a number of figures including SS etc so I'm confident in saying there is no political reason for the company not making Vietnam based figures. The fact is that is that on a global scale the WWII and Napoleonic ranges are most popular making Vietnam based products among the rest so to speak.

As already mentioned, K & C have done Vietnam based pieces in the past. But imo the detail on them wasn't as good as it could be and I agree that this era is worth K & C have another loook at. King and Country continually improve their figures and vehicles and I'd like to see what Vietnam stuff they could produce now.

Meanwhile, if you are just after Vietnam pieces and they don't HAVE to be K & C products, you may want to check out a company called Figarti that make some nice Vietnam based figures in 1/32 scale.

Here's a link to Figarti's current Vietnam "Khe Sanh" (spelling varies) range: http://www.figarti.com/Catalog/The_Vietnam_War/The_Siege_of_Khe_Sanh

Treefrog Treasures has some in stock and could no doubt get more in: http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/FGvietnam.shtml

But if you are only after Aussies figures in Vietnam you may have to check out some local Australian companies as no one seems to make them overseas.

Welcome Simpson & his donkey. I have to ask, what does your call sign mean?

Simpson and his donkey - assume this great name is from "Digger" Simpson and his donkey who saved the wounded at Gallipoli? Great exhibition at the Imperial War Museum on animals in war so some of this is fresh in my mind - please tell us/me more about Digger?

I mentioned how great the Vietnam series figures are, it was an early release

but the quality of the figures were really first rate. The current crop of

Vietnam figures available from other manufacters are nice but they will not be

manning my Firebase.

You must bear in mind there are one or two people on this Forum that have

nothing but negitive comments about King & Country.....you have already met

one. Take it with a grain of salt, look for yourself there are many pictures

available of the King & Country Vietnam Series and the other figures currently

available. Look at them all and decide for yourself.

Pull your head in Njja, I'm sick of your crap and half truths. When King & Country have done a good job I say so, and when I feel they could have done better, I'll say that to. We all know that you have bought up a number of early K & C Vietnam pieces recently to sell off for what you hope are big prices. In fact, lately you only bother to post something on the forum when you think you can sell something.

Some of the K & C Vietnam pieces are ok but some are not. For example, the pics of the modular diorama I saw looked rather crude to me. But as I said, K & C are always improving their products and we can't rule out a new range of K & C Vietnam based pieces.

Morning Oz,how are you today mate?!!!!!

Oz,do you think in terms of sales and popularity conflicts like Vietnam,Falklands,Gulf war etc can ever compete with the WW2's ACW's and Napoleonic's?.They just don't seem to have an appeal big enough for someone to make them in large numbers.I know this must be frustrating for enthusiasts of these conflicts, but its all about whats going to sell isn't it?.

Rob

I can't see an 'other' conflict out selling the WWII range for at least ten years. That said, much depends upon what country you are selling in. Vietnam based armor models are fairly popular in the plastic kit hobby and that usually translates to the diecast and polystone section of the military hobby. There's a wide scope of possibilites for Vietnam armor apart from the many US vehicles used. For example, the less common prototypes such as the Aussie M113 Fire Support Vehicle and Centurion tank.

Its a shame that a new member can't ask a simple question without you

starting up again. Why not simply allow him to decide what he likes as I

suggested before you tell him what he should do?

I wonder what it must be like to know everything about everything and

everybody.

What you know about me couldn't fill a thimble.

But its always nice to know your obsessed with me.....makes me feel

important.....keep it up.......I feel like a celeb!
