Exciting K&c News From West Coaster!!! (1 Viewer)

Really? i thought you were a huge fan?.

Rob

The only time I watch a game is when we play England or NZ, and then only for an hour or so at a time. The daily hilites are enough for me most test days.

I like to keep udated on how England are doing but as with you i can't watch it hour on hour.I'm the same with football.

Rob

The Aussies knocked all the enjoyment out of cricket for me over the course of 5 Ashes tests.

Our one day triumph ignited a spark in me though and I'm looking forward to the World Cup

COME ON MONTY
Panesar :)

Hitler sure did stick a spanner in the Normandy works with his splitting the armour deployments didn't he?.Can't really underestimate how much his interference ruined the German army's chances throughout the war.Rommel was very astute wasn't he.He knew as soon as the allies established a bridgehead the war was as good as over.In fact wasn't he on his way to convince a fellow officer about the need to surrender when his car was shot up?.

Rob

Rommel was so astute that he was on holiday on D-Day. The greatest armada in history is bearing down on him and he is AWOL. In his defense, the German intelligence service was an absolute disgrace. It gave real credence to Hitler's paranoia. Canaris and many others were either agents of the allies or entirely incompetent or both. The British intelligence service consistently gave the allies a tremendous advantage over the Germans.

But do you think whatever he had done he was doomed?.As you say the biggest armada in history coming at them surely the best he could have ever hoped for was to slow them down. And don't you think that even if all the tanks were near the beaches it wouldn't have had much difference on the outcome?.Maybe carnage to start with, but sure USAAF/RAF would have dealt with the tanks lickety split?.Wasn't he always on a lose?.Although you do make a very good point about intelligance or lack of it.

Rob

Thanks to Carlos too who, if I understand correctly, took also the time to post photos.

Behind the Hawker, there is a box from the SOHK serie. Something new?

Anyway, Steven or Carlos, please ask A. C. Neison what are the plans for that serie and if he plans to revisit the Silk Road serie.

Pierre.

Yes, Carlos posted the second set of clearer photos. His digital camera is better than mine. He posted the photos and asked me to comment. The next SOHK is HK159, The Metal Worker. I will ask abou Silk Road.:)

Its interesting that Andy has chosen a Bavarian regiment to center the early WWI releases. Presumably to include a Hitler figure. I believe Rohm was in the 13th Bavarian regiment that is featured here - so we will probably get a Lt. Rohm in the future. A little puzzled about the inclusion of Hindenburg in the 1914 "march on paris." He was marching the other direction in 1914 or at least trying on the eastern front. I suppose that one is about sales and Hindy is inevitable in WWI. von Moltke would have been a better historical personality for that theme, but I'm not complaining - just noting.

Brad we are indeed united!.Lets face it only one person kicked his Nazi arse out of africa, out thought and out fought the fox.(Cue the arguments, numbers supplies bla bla bla)but Monty was the man that did.And as i have said before he had many faults and made mistakes in Normandy/Arnhem.But one thing is forgotten he whupped the most famous and gifted piece of scum in the German army. And for that he is a hero. Rob

I somewhat agree. However if Montgomery were the Supreme Allied Commander as he wanted and lobbyied to be, the Allies would still be outside Caan. ;)

With what MONTY had at his disposal vs the FOX it's no wonder he got to finally beating him. As to the two MONTY could'nt hold a candle to Rommel as a Military Leader. I know Stick to my Zulu War and leave the fighting to the Big Kids..........The Lt.

I think thats a gross exageration actually.Monty out thought Rommel, made extensive and detailed preperations and inspired his men to believe they could whip Rommel-which is exactly what they did.Job done! Well done Monty for kicking Rommel and his unbeatable Korp right out of North Africa.

I know who Monty Panesar is but who is this Desert Fox chap ? Shane Warne?

If the Germans had been better prepared and acted quickly there was a chance that they could have made a disaster of the whole thing. The allied efforts were confused and generally woeful. Unfortunately for the Germans, they were caught totally by surprise, had almost no leadership in the initial days, and many of the troops were foreign auxiliaries not too keen on dying. The allied air and naval superiority make it difficult to envision the Germans driving the allied forces into the sea, but given the difficulties in supplying a bottled up force without a decent port the allies might have been forced to evacuate. The whole thing from the German perspective is puzzling. Hitler indicated that the war would be won or lost based on the outcome of the invasion, and yet the German counter efforts were confused, timid and slow as though they never anticipated an invasion. There were almost no Luftwaffe sorties on D-Day or much sense of urgency on the German side!

Oh my god!,GLIDER TROOPS!!!!! Rob

1) ummm, Rob - what's the difference between DDay glider infantry uniforms and regular infantry uniforms? Hint: NOTHING! The poor "glider riders" didn't get special gear or uniforms like the paratroopers. They weren't even volunteers like the paras! By Market Garden I think the glider troops got the same modified M1943 uniform that the parachutists used to replace their M1942 jump outfit.

2) Note that the first troops are US glider troops. Maybe we'll get a Waco CG4A instead of the Airspeed Horsa? The Waco is slightly smaller which would reduce costs and fit some displays. The Waco just doesn't help the British airborne fans much.

3) Really nice to see that combat cameraman! I'm also very glad to see that he'll be available as a "single". Gotta have one.

4) That WW1 stuff is really impressive. If I won the lottery I'd have to get that bunch also (although those beautiful American Civil War figures come first!).

These figures, vehicles and projects show why Andy and his crew are still TOPS in miniature figures. Simply gorgeous stuff!

Gary

I hear what your saying about uniforms etc,but any D day stuff is my kinda stuff so i'm a happy bunny!.

I too love that camera man and want the WW1 stuff, its all so good we can't lose!

Rob

Steven,

Many thanks for the photo of the Opel, it looks great! Do you know if the seating in the back is removable?
