I've been working with multiple-model displays lately, and thought that I'd take a stab at Jenkins' offerings from Jasta 11:

The pic you see above is essentially a "proof of concept" image. I was unsure as to how viable it was to pack so many models into so small a space and still have them appear to be part of a believable scene. Satisfied with the possibilities, I turned up the heat, so to speak, with figure sets, accessories and better lighting:

I believe that many/most of our readers will agree that it's pretty remarkable that Jenkins has drilled down so far into the component elements of a single squadron. The upshot of the situation is that collectors have some truly extraordinary display possibilities, ones that are very much compelling in an historical, aviation-related context.

Made my day, Moe. Wonderful scene to wake up to, the Baron and his dawn patrol prepping for take off. Really love the angle of the shots. Just like the actual squadron shots looking down the line. Couple of questions; where did the interloper from Jasta 2 go? Back to his base? I saw the Kempf Fokker in the 'proof of concept' shot, to be replaced by Weiss in the later shots. No matter, members from other Jastas were always dropping in to see the Baron. Kempf obviously left after breakfast.:wink2: These are the exact kind of displays that these models are capable of, to recall a moment in history. Beautifully executed. -- Al

Kempf was handy at that particular moment, Weiss far less so. BTW, I considered fielding Kempf and calling the display "Fokker Base." Then I thought about you and was driven to dig the last of the Jasta 11 tripes out of the display case and to dismount it from its stand. Voila, gentlemen, I give you Jasta 11! Thank you for the inspiration.

I went window-shopping for Jasta 11 on the i-Pad last night. The results were a little surprising in that the HTF issue proved to be ACE-01, the MvR model. Now, I realize that this will strike a lot of our readers as an obvious first choice. However, it's my understanding that Jenkins made a LOT more of '01 than of the other three. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if JJD made more of the Richthofen model than of the other three combined, ACE-01 having been the beneficiary of multiple production runs. Evidence of this can be found in the stand-fitting that's present on later production, BTW. I guess that this just goes to show what star-power will do for sales, and that "the Red Baron" still has it.

Thanks, but I have to give most of the credit to JJD. I'm appreciative of the extent to which other manufacturers produce aviation related subjects, but Jenkins really kinda goes "all out" when he decides to launch a range. In support of that proposition, I'd point to the subject line of this thread. Who else does stuff like this, four models from the same sqauadron, I mean? For someone that's as interested in aviation as I am, the models are inspirational indeed.

Well ... what can I say ... I'm taking the hobby in new and exciting directions. I am, however, a prophet with no honour in my own country because 'my' group don't do anything they are told.
