Fellow collectors after admiring the Britains set of the Changing of the Guard (a photo of same I first saw in a Corrs of Washington catalog in the 1950's) I have finally acquired the set in mint, tied-in-box condition. Now, I just have to find a place to display it. :rolleyes2:

Well you had some great sets. I wish I had taken part in that Old Toy Soldier auction. Only got into those auctions lately.

What fun to see these Britains and Elastolin figures - many of which I had or still have but most without their boxes. Hope your 2016 auction was successful. (Is that a Navajo rug in the picture?)

I'm 73 - makes me one of the "old guys" here. Began playing with toy soldiers sometime around age 7 I'd guess. Began collecting​ in my 30's.

At age 73 I've long thought about what happens to my collection after I'm gone. Part of it will appeal to those here on the Forum (i.e. pre 1968 Britains, Elastolin, Johill, etc.) but the much larger part of it consists of Flats - something of relatively little interest to collectors either in...

Still, it's hard to beat Miracle on 34th Street.

Well fortunately for the kids the forecast of snow on Halloween in Saint Louis didn't work out. Unfortunately for them it was near freezing that night.

Rain now, freezing rain later over night and some snow by 7AM in Saint Louis. Or so they say.

I was wondering about those white uniforms, too. In any color film clips I've seen of Hitler he was the only one wearing white.

Hate to sound like one-upmanship, but yesterday Colorado Springs got 8" and a bit further west Salida, CO. got 14". Happy Halloween, kids! {sm4}
