  • Hi John: Who did you order from? Are you going to get the track and loader? Display space is a concern. Glad you like the reorganized albums. Did you see the latest photo on the Skoda with info? Tommy
    Hi John
TD10A is a nice set, I have used the photographer on his own in several dios.
Thank you for the best wishes, as you have probably gathered the weather here has been pretty horrendous but the Trophy quest continues. I should get confirmation tomorrow morning that my Trophy contact will be at the Show, when I spoke to him early in the week he was definitely going but the weather deteriorated in his part of the country yesterday.
    Cheers
    Martyn
    Thanks John
That is part of the BIG BOX set Battle of Buena Vista.
There was an add on set MAW3 that included
TWO PRIVATES of the 3rd LINE REGIMENT OF MEXICO
THREE PRIVATES of the GRENADIER GUARDS of the SUPREME POWER
    but no Officer
    Cheers

    JW,
Had a great time at the Hackensack show. Met some new collectors and old friends. Great part of the fun of this hobby is meeting fellow collectors. Of course the other part of the fun is finding stuff. I managed to find a few Trophy sets this year, one of which is the front cover of your Trophy album:) Very happy to find that one. I will try to post pics when I get a chance. Speaking of pics, thanks for posting the photo of Travis. Finally know what that set looks like! What was funny though is that I finally managed to find Travis - but made by King & Country. When it rains, it pours!! Got to run now, but want to thank you for taking the time to post photos of the wonderful new additions to the collection! All the best, Lawrence
    JW,
Looking forward to the photo of Travis as I have never even seen one in the Trophy catalogues I have. I will be at the Hackensack, NJ show this weekend to do my annual autumn cleaning and will try to find some Trophy. Again, congrats on finding those sets. All the best, Lawrence
    JW,
What a great pick-up!! Congrats as all those sets are hard to come by. With regard to the Alamo sets, I don't see them very often. I am still missing Travis (ALA 2) and Santa Anna (ALA 6). I have photos of the sets I have. Would like to see the photo of Travis. Again, congrats on finding what I think are fairly rare sets and boxed on top of it!! All the best, Lawrence
John: Thanks for your kind comments about my collection. I wouldn't worry about the elephants as that is a black hole for collectors. I know you have a great collection of artillery. Did you see the Metal Shed artillery photos from Chicago? I think they have the best sets. Best regards, Tommy
    JW,
Know how you feel. I would have bought the WW1 artillery piece, but passed on it as there is only so much room and funds. I was not able to go to Chicago - scheduling conflict as it was Parent's Weekend at my son's college - he is a Freshman. Maybe next year we can meet in Chicago. If I hear of any other Trophy, I will let you know. All the best, Lawrence
    JW,
Just bought an elephant gun team. Seller also had a Boer War Tractor & Gun as well, but is asking alot - $1,500 and a WW1 artillery set - Tea time - $425.00. All sets are in their original boxes. I know it is expensive, but if you are interested, I will pass on the contact info. All the best, Lawrence
John: I have experienced some of the same problems with BG and have notified Shannon(they don't unpack) and also Ana. Looking forward to your imput. Tommy
    Hi
Thanks for the nice comments. I paint mostly with acrylics, but I paint a lot of horses with oil paints then varnish with acrylic gloss varnish by Miniatures Paints Ltd
    JW,
That was a wonderful find of the Royal Artillery set. Nothing like finding a long sought after piece in pristine condition. I was able to locate one of the galloping set for the Zulu series a couple of months ago, but it cost me a pretty penny. As for the Somme, I have not been able to pick that one though I have admired that set. If you collect WW1Trophy, call the Guards in London as I saw a horse drawn artillery set available for sale when I was there two weeks ago. I picked-up a Kitchener, Skinner and NE4, so I was happy. Things are quiet for the moment, but you never know what will pop-up and so the hunt continues! All the best, Lawrence
    Hi John

I had a look at the Somerset site after I found his "Gordon's Last Stand" set at MKL last Christmas, I agree with you it is a beautiful set. You should get it.

    Cheers

    Martyn
    JW,
Hope you are enjoying the Fourth of July holiday. Will keep my eye out for the last set you need in the series. Maybe Martyn can contact the person who had the other two sets to see if he has the third. As for me, the Trophy search has slowed down quite a bit. Have not seem much and what is available comes at a hefty price, but you never know - seems to be feast or famine. Have been picking up mostly old K&C glossy and warbirds lately. I never picked-up any of the Durbar sets, but can certainly see why people would collect that range. The elephants are spectacular and would be the centerpiece of any collection. Just have to make sure the shelf can support the weight!! Congrats again and all the best, Lawrence
    JW,
I have been searching for those sets and have never even seen a single figure until I saw the photos of the London show. It looks like you need to go there before Martyn and Clive grab everything! I also saw some single figures up on ebay as well. Good luck and look forward to seeing those figures in your collection. All the best, Lawrence
