Tommy's War weekend half price sale

Thank you for posting this John. Very sad to read of his predicament, but as he says he has bills to pay. I have just purchased several figures and have seen other Treefroggers have done so on another thread. Lets hope it shows Darren there is support for his figures. It would be sad to see...

Identifying Britains horse artillery team – 1940s?

I am with Arnhem Jim and would agree they look very much like Roy Dilley's work. Below is an image from 'Modelling Miniature Figures' edited by Bruce Quarrie. Roy Dilley wrote a chapter in the book on converting old Britains hollow casts. Basically he was using the bodies of Britains figures...

    Caron d'Hevilly- Who was he?

Thanks John, Yes I used that figure as a painting guide. There is a French website with posts about that figure- http://www.leforumlafigurine.com/t10117-colonel-aide-de-camp-1801-atelier-maket The lace on the figure is fantastic. I couldn't match that in 54mm. I dry brushed the lace on the...

    Caron d'Hevilly- Who was he?

Recently finished Caron d'Hevilly and thought I would post some images of him here. Another great old Rose Miniatures kit. Scott

New Hope design- Army of the Andes figure.

A little bit of progress on this figure. I purchased a bunch of Historex parts recently from the Kilted Vampire and have sorted out the right arm and musket and the sword for the left side of the figure. Still mucking around with left arm. Progress though! Scott

What was the Delhi Durbar 1903?

Hi Ana, Thanks for that link to the Imperial Cadet Corps story. Your mention of a book jogged my memory as I have a copy of this book. The book you are referring to is called 'A season in India- The letters of Ruby Madden', edited by Helen Rutledge and originally printed in 1976. Ruby Madden...

What was the Delhi Durbar 1903?

Ana, This is a great thread! A question. Can you add more as to who the Imperial Cadets were? I ask as I am aware of a small party from one Australian private school who attended the Durbar. Scott

    Black outlining/detailing

I think ArnhemJim is on the right track. I have a couple of books on making and painting model soldiers from the late 1970s/early 80s era that describe the method. I will see if I can dig them out. Scott

Agreed! Would have like to have seen a bit more of Essie Davis before she was pushed off the stool as well:) The Arya Stark story is shaping up well.

Tamiya 1/35th Tiger Tank (Type I, Early Production)

Nice work Marc. The rust on the side skirts is particularly well done. Scott

Detective Montalbano & The Young Montalbano

It is a bit of a sleeper that Montalbano series but well worth watching. You are right about the characters in the series. The bumbling Clouseau type uniformed cop at the station always makes me laugh. The pace of the story is quite slow as well, but in a good way.

New Hope design- Army of the Andes figure.

Thanks Brad. I have a British musket from an Airfix kit I can use. I thought they may have used a British weapon, however considering they were attempting to overthrow Spanish rule it may well be French. Looking at the Osprey image closely it does seem to resemble a Brown Bess around the stock...

New Hope design- Army of the Andes figure.

This is a better image of the figure from an Osprey book. It should look good as a glossy with these colours.:smile2:

New Hope design- Army of the Andes figure.

This figure came among a box of them needing repairs. He is missing both arms and his identity has kept me guessing for about a year- I thought that he may be a French infantryman. Anyway I had a good look at New Hope Catalogues available on the net and found that he is from their Army of the...

Anyone looking for unmade Historex kits at bargain prices

KV, I would be interested in a few of the bits and bobs for restoring some figures. No idea what they are worth though. Scott

Thanks Grognard. Yes, that certainly looks like the figure and the print. Scott

    Caron d'Hevilly- Who was he?

John, Yes it is the Rose figure. I have the painting guide but am curious as to who he was. Grognard, Thanks for looking. Does the tricolour material tied around his left arm signify anything? Scott

    Caron d'Hevilly- Who was he?

A question for the Napoleonic buffs. I am working on a figure of the Frenchman Caron d' Hevilly, Colonel of Hussars and a staff officer. There are plenty of images available of his uniform available on the internet, but precious little about the man. Can anyone add some details to this...
