Game of thrones ! (1 Viewer)

I've just seen episode 8, things are getting interesting in a heap of ways. Aside from being the back from the dead season, it appears to be the redemption one too, as Theon and The Hound seem to be coming good. Though with two seasons still to go (I think), the next two episodes will surely have some nasty twists. On that, I think it's been a while since anybody important and/or likeable has been killed off?

SPOILER ALERT

not likeable...but Ramsey...the High Sparrow and his female counterpart (Mother Superior?) are good candidates on my list...you can also add Cousin Lanister from their religious sect...

Ramsey...would like to see Snow or the giant squash him...Battle of the Bastards...should be a good battle tonight...would not be surprised to see Little Finger ally with Snow at this battle...

glad to see the Many Faced God's little minion gone...her face mounted on the wall...she was annoying and exceptionally cruel...

you would think the Hound might at least have a little limp...be he looks in fine form and will probably join the Brotherhood Without Banners...

sad to see Ian McShane killed off so quick...

Spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you're right with a few of those predictions. Ramsay in particular. Like with the Wheel of Time series, the writers have to start clearing the deck for the events of the final act. Things are crowded as it is. I think he's surpassed Joffrey as the most odious character.

I'm happy Arya is on her way home. Though she almost counts as another 'back from the dead' - those stomach stabs should've been the end of her. Certainly enough to stop her parkour escape from the 'Waif', who herself seemed to be channeling the running style of the terminator from T2.

Also where have those bad girls from Dorne gone?

SPOILER ALERT

I think HBO has done an excellent on their own so far...
and even better job this season...since they abandoned George RR Martin at the end of last season...

he writes too slow...
the tv series had caught up and passed his written material at the end of last season...
and this season...they have made their own story and script..
filming way faster than he can write...

and I think the stories are more exciting with much more action...

I don't know if they are using an outline of his...
or if they are just winging it on their own...
but I'm curious what this is gonna do to his uncompleted books series when he wants to finish it...
will it follow HBO's made up plot?
who owns the rights to it?

this week...
glad to see Sansa has grown a pair...
after being Joffery's timid little mouse...
more like a Westeros wallflower...
gotta admit...
I loved the scene of her, Ramsey and the starving dogs...
she's toughened up...
as with her conceding her younger brother's life...
she's actually gotten hard...
her and Arya should make quite a pair if they ever reunite at Winterfell...

HBO is easier to predict than Martin...
when he knocked off Ned Stark in Season 1...
I never saw that coming...

then after the Red Wedding...
I never had a clue who he was willing to kill off...

Danerys...
loved the opening scene where she said...
"Sorry...you misunderstood...I came here to discuss your surrender."
as her Dothraki army slaughtered the Son's of Harpy...

Little Finger to the rescue...did anybody see Brienne of Tarth at the battle?

so did the Wildling giant die?
you never know...
this series has a history of re-incarnation or unbelievable survival scenes...

now that Yara and Theon have given Danerys access to boats...
along with the Slave Master's boats...
has 3 capable dragons and a Dothraki army to add to her Unsullied...
maybe she is finally on her way to Westeros...

Still one of my favorite shows...sad to see the season finale is already here next week...
since premiering in 2011, "Game of Thrones" has become a vital asset for HBO...
it is the most-watched program in the network's history, with an average of 20 million weekly viewers in its fifth season...
never thought Sopranos would get beat...

I agree Mike, well done battle sequences, hard to believe this is a TV series. The story was predictable last night but was stunning to watch. I watched it twice just because of the battle sequences. Loved Sansa's little smile at the end. Chris

Chris...hahaha...I watched it twice too to see the battle scenes again...epic...

and the dog scene...^&grin

Oh yea, that dog scene was epic... Sansa put on a clinic on getting even... Chris

Ramsey didn't suffer enough for all he's done.If I were a Stark he would suffer everyday for a long long time.{eek3}

Hemmed in so tight , they could not wield their weapons or hardly defend themselves. Reminded me of Cannae.

Michael - Brianne is on her way back from meeting with Jamie at River Run (the whole black fish thing). That's why she wasn't at the battle for Winterfell

Zach...you're right...I now remember her escaping down the river with her squire making goo goo eyes at the King Slayer...forgot about that...

Same it was brilliant would be the best battle scene ive ever watched i reckon simply brilliant.

Probably one of the best episodes to date.

Agree mate.

Episode 9 spoilers

Someone at work said it was the best battle scene he'd ever seen, including Braveheart and Helms Deep. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was just gut wrenching. I see some people have watched it twice, I don't know whether I could watch it again? It was just hellish - more Agincourt and The Somme. The reality of drowning and suffocating in the crush and mud was conveyed very well - those scenes were, sickening... claustrophobic!

It was also realistic in that Sansa rightly predicted Ramsay would play them. He should've won. Snow and the others played right into his hands. That shield and spear wall was deadly. It was always hard to imagine what Cannae and Boudiccas last battle would've looked like - I think this conveyed the reality of those slaughters perfectly.

Reflecting now, it was more The Pacific in terms of conveying war. Chilling, filthy and gory. Band of Brothers, Braveheart, Helms Deep etc are too clean and heroic. I think I prefer them though. Tonight was hard watching. I need a rest now!

yeah, I was disappointed in John Snow. A terrible set of decisions that Sansa predicted perfectly. I guess that was the point, but still disappointing (in a good, dramatic way.)

With the rest of you, I thought it was great and will watch it again.

A good commander does not let his anger dictate his actions but it does make a better story.^&grin

For me the highlight of the season has been the story of Hordor, it seems on the surface a small part but I have read 1000's of pages of all the books, some more than once and followed the series watching over what? 50 hours since the beginning and his story was never explained. I thought it was a brilliant work of story telling to have this character in really a central role in the series from the start and to weave his story so eloquently into such a vital part of the story was just brilliant planning and is a perfect example of what makes him such a great storyteller. To some it may be a small thing but as someone said most get the big things, it's the details that really seperate the great, I hold up Tolkien as an example of the richness of detail and how critical it is to great storytelling.

so prediction time...

how does everybody see the obvious upcoming clash between Cercei and the High Sparrow playing out...

the trial (not by combat) is probably this next week...

still...am looking forward to Clegane ripping some more faces off with his bare hands...

"I choose violence"...by Cersei...great line last week...

can't stand the High Sparrow and his smug holier than thou attitude...
can't stand his giant devotee Unella the Septa...the "Walk of Shame" chanter...
which Cercei promised a horrible death and that Cercei's face would be the last thing she ever saw...
can't stand cousin Lanister with the burnt tattoo on his forehead...
what a goober he is...
not even liking King Tommen anymore as he has been brainwashed and is manipulated by the High Sparrow...
helping to seal his mother's fate by outlawing trial by combat...

Jamie is finished at Riverrun...
and I assume on his way back to Cercei...
the Lanister army is probably returning with him...
so she will have some help...

don't know if anybody feels the same...
I used to despise the character of Cercei...
but I actually like her now and am rooting for her...^&grin
all the cruel things she has done...
I kind of like her now...in the role of underdog...

dying to see Clegane crush somebody else...
loved how he ripped that sect fanatics lower jaw off...
he a full blown necrotized behemoth...
played by Hafþór Júlíus "Thor" Björnsson...an Icelandic strongman...
6'9"s tall...400 pounds...all muscle...
placed #2 in the World's Strongest Man Competition...
hope he battles with some more of the High Sparrow's Faith of Seven fanatics...
makes Arnold look like a little peanut...

my prediction...
the High Sparrow and all his minions will be annihilated...
in a truly gruesome gory Game of Throne's fashion...

any guess's???
