    DIY Dogs of war?

Sorry, no. The conversions were done a number of years ago and the figures are in a box somewhere in my garden shed along with hundreds of other pieces of plastic (metal and resin). I will have a look and see if I can dig any out. All the painted ones are long gone I'm afraid. The problem is not...

    DIY Dogs of war?

I have not scratch built figures as such. I have converted a mixture of Airfix modern British and German infantry, Gun Ho Vietnam era Australians and Deetail 8th Army (for the shorts) to create 60's 70's and 80's era mercenary and African guerilla/independence wars. Airfix Footballers (quite...

Help needed. Coleman's Cheshire Volunteer WW2 54mm figures

Hi A one man company called Good Soldiers, now owns and produces the Coleman Cheshire Volunteer range of castings. They are very reasonably priced. I do not have the full details of the company at hand, but I am pretty sure the proprietors name is Alan Goodwin and he does advertise in the Toy...

    Advice on Glencoe Models

I had one of these kits years ago, they are true 1/32 scale. The kits themselves are very basic, but do resemble a PT76 when built. It would depend how detailed you wanted it. I think Glencoe had a series of 3 Soviet era Vehicles the PT76 an APC (MBLT ?) and A ballistic missile carrier. I...

    London

I believe in a number of European countries during riotous situations, the police have a BATON ORDER, or something similar. When it is given, the police charge the rioters and basically beat the living daylights out of as many roiters as they can get their hands on, or batons too. After the...

    London

Its the police's fault, well thats what the pundits always say, they either do too much or not enough, and whatever they do its wrong anyway. Thank God I retired two years ago, so its no longer my fault Having previously been in the same situation as the cops in London have been in over the past...

    Armadillo

Just watched a great documentary film ARMADILLO It is about a Danish Army units deployment to Helmand Province Afghanistan. It is very well made, photography is superb and is quite frankly streets ahead of anything coming from the US or UK. I highly recommend it. Caution, not suitable for children

Looking for French Indochina War book

Devil's Guard The Real Story is a comic without the pictures, a particularly badly written one at that. I managed about ten pages before binning it. The following books are first hand accounts written in English and should still be available secondhand. IN ORDER TO DIE by Henry Ainley A...

Looking for French Indochina War book

Street without Joy by Bernard Fall is probably the best overall view I have read that is available in English, although a bit short on photos. If you try http://militaria.histoireetcollections.com/en/dossiers.html a French magazine website. There are a number of Indo China War specials...

    Really Boring show

I have been fortunate enough over the years to attend a number of Toy Soldier/Model shows both in the UK and Europe, all of which I travelled hundreds of miles to see. I have enjoyed most of them, in fact at some of them I had a ball, this one I didnt. The choice of figures and accessories...

Why do Yanks always bag the fighting ability of the French?

I was enjoying this discussion up to this point, English inventions, English bullets, English factories. I thought it was called the Battle of Britain

    Really Boring show

What EXACTLY I was looking for, was to enjoy myself, I didnt, no ones fault but my own. I should never have brought my granny with me, she has been dead for thirty years and is teetotal, ruins your day every time.

    Really Boring show

I have to agree. Had been to the show twice previously, I travelled down from Glasgow and had an overnight stay at the Ibis hotel. Brought plenty of money to spend, but found nothing to spend it on. As you say no atmosphere, got there just after 11am and left at 1pm, didnt go back. Bit of a...

    A very long engagement

The film is a whimsical love story, but very well made. Set during WWI (french subtitles) in France. The battle scenes are excellent, though there are not many, but for production values the are as good as the battle scenes in Saving Private Ryan. Overall a very enjoyable film and one that the...
