Great post Rob.
Great summary about how i feel.
I don't post here anymore because it is not as fun as it was before, plain and simple !

Brad, funny you mention the shows and the social side of them because its stated every time we meet up at the shows that its these meet ups that are the highlight now and at the same time the group is drifting from the forum. If you look at the ' core' (if you will) of the group that is James (Eazy), Simon, Bob,(UKREB) Jeff, Andy (UKBOD) and Alan (Trooper ) all these guys either a)don't post at all b)only post once in a blue moon or c) stay away from the K&C threads. Once upon a time these guys were all regulars , along with other guys missing in action such as Tony Neville and Clive from Grey Goose etc. When I ask them why they no longer post its always the same answer, arguments, constant contradiction etc etc. Now when you add these guys to some of the guys who are ' exiled' (either by choice or enforced) but lots of the exiles now on another forum combined with the guys I've named above were such a laugh, we used to have long threads of people just riffing with humour , it was real fun . That's all gone now and I suspect quite a few of us post out of habit .

Now I'm not sitting here saying there were no arguments because of course there were and the K&C V FL Wars ruined a lot of peoples enjoyment, its just a tad depressing now when I talk to the guys and they say ' nah , all the fun has been sucked out of it '. People who have been members and love their hobby don't just walk away for no reason.

My main point I guess is that each year the shows get more and more important

After the current elections in the US we find a great country deeply divided, It will take cooperaction and cool heads to mend this divide and it will not be easy.

This is a great Forum which is deeply divided, between K&C supporters and everyone else. The K&C party has been in power for years (Just look at the posts in the K&C section). If you go off the K&C course you are looked down upon, and many have open their eyes and see there are exciting alternatives now.

Lets make believe I am not saying this ......Well how could you not see that Thomas Gunn's and FL's figures are superior to K&C for X Y Z reasons. I could actually make that arguement, but what good would it do, because the K&C fan would say K&C is better than TGM and FL because of Z Y X reasons.

The point being, if the K&C supporter speaks there is less backlash. You guys are in charge of the dominant party, but be benevolent and dont supress the rest of us, we have a right to our opinion also.

Your leader has spoken and now you are going to be all fired up....Calm down...Listen to everyone, you may learn something, you may actually enjoy the hobby and have more fun if you expand your hobby mind.

OH yes there is the business apect, times are a bit rough, suppose one of our favorite manufacturers went out of business, I think we all know that is a possibility, that may make our support even more fanatical.

As I said above coming together may be tough, and we need to be tempered, In my legitimate scale discussions I have been very calm ( There is no reason not to be it is not a big deal ) Yet I have gotten many nasty comeback mostly by the ruling party and even a statement from the party leader to rally the troops.

How do we present the olive branch, how do we tolerate others legitimate positions, lets turn this discussion to this topic. Alex

Another deletion massacree in the KC section. What a shock.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Back to the topic at hand, and Andy's original point. I collect 54mm, as close to the classic 54mm as possible, and I do avoid other scales, because I've committed my resources to a collection of uniform scale. I follow the same principle, though not as diligently, with my scale models. There, I have 2 preferred scales, 1/48 and 1/72.

Prost!

Alex, this is a hobby and i think you are getting carried away on all of this. There is nothing wrong with a healthy debate on a topic but i hardly think the forum is divided between so called K&C supporters and everyone else as you put it. All this stuff about K&C supporter’s suppressing anyone and "your leader has spoken" is over the top and kinda silly. I see you are passionate on this scale issue but please just try kicking back, have some fun and have a healthy debate and mate, don't take things so seriously.

It is not as silly as you think. I get tons of correspondence on my website concerning this. I dont speak in theory here I only speak if I have substantial information which many are not privy to. I have the advantage of the Battle Scene Productions website which gets thousands of hits and there is a wealth of info available. I assure you the info I forwarded is one of the main reasons for the strife here.

I was a Battalion Commander on a tough city Fire Department and upon my retirement the one thing I was told by my men was that I was EASY GOING, FAIR AND KNOWLEDGABLE, we also had loads of fun, but my Battalion got the job done with brutal efficiency.

EASY GOING - I am not combative although I am painted this way here.

FAIR - I call it the way I see it, no agenda here.

KNOWLEDGABLE - I only Speak if I have something to back it up.

And I love loads of fun too, but if things can be made better I will put my 2 cents in.

The good old days

So lets get back to olive branch suggestions. Dont direct comments and suggestions to me I am just a very small part of this Forum. Lets make suggestions which will better the Forum as a whole

I agree completely.

Nice reply!! Though I really don't know how you have all of this time to post when you should be beavering away with that pencil drawing the sturmtiger!!!LOL
Mitch

nice, a sturm tiger to go with the volkstrum. but don't forget the normandy fallschirmjager

I generally avoid the heated debates on historical accuracy or scale because I too believe that these creations to a large degree are artistic and that's why certain brands appeal to a variety of collectors. I like to view others collections and have fun with mine. The hobby should always be first and foremost an enjoyable passtime to escape the day to day grind.
Now if there is a glaring mistake on a piece that's a different thing but frankly none of the manufacturers have made a model that I would consider grossly misrepresented. In my home I'm really the only "expert", most of my friends and family that might view my collection wouldn't know the difference ( or care ) between an M1A1 Abrams tank or a Tiger tank let alone the details that make up the model. {eek3}
Good post Andy. {bravo}}

my only problem isn't as much scale as it is the wrong camo patterns on german figures. there are some other companies out there that make great figures with original poses that i would buy except the camo is all wrong

I have just been reading about the Lions of Carantan FJ Regiment 6 and, there would be some excellent sets to be made from these just from what pics I have seen both in fighting poses and, non combat. Mind, with them I still would suggest a Brumbar

Nice quote Joe......yeah it's kind of looking at the glass half full opposed to the glass being half empty philosophy really......sadly it's always the same blokes having a moan or taking the opposite view to a discussion just because they can.......and clearly have the time to do so.... over and over and over again.....

It's very tiresome guys, no one likes being around 'negative' stuff.......and there are those on this forum (K&C) that bathe in it up to their necks......... most come to the forum to enjoy the hobbie and chat to mates or like minded collectors and not to be bombarded by trivial rubbish from those who clearly enjoy the sound of their own keyboard.

I've no doubt I'm going to get blasted for posting this, but I'm really sick and tired of spending valuable time wading through the same moans & groans nearly everytime I manage to grab a free moment to check out the site......to those that keep this up......build and bridge and get over it and stop spoiling everyones fun.:(

On a happy note, I used to spend most of my time on the K&C Thread{sm3}......but due to all the whinging, I've now spent a bit of time over the past few months on all the other threads now and met a ton of great new collectors and products......yippee....have a great day and happy collecting{sm4}
