To All ,

While i am anxiously awaiting the release of the K&C 38t , i have noticed the K&C thread has been inundated with thread's on pricing & premium figures...
I wanted to bring this thread back to the forefront...I was reading a post elsewhere on the forum , the jist of it was WW2 release's are just endless rehashing...To some extent i think that is true , however I started a thread a couple of months ago about the Czech tanks 35t & 38t , some of you may remember !
I really enjoyed that thread & the input i got from it...We all know Toy Soldier companies are bussiness's , & they only obviously want to manufactor items they know will return them a profit / an item which is widely accepted & wanted by buyers !! ie Tiger & Panther tanks...
I believe Andy/K&C is willing to accept new ideas or venture where no other TS co. has gone before , he has done that with this release the 38t !! Which is the first release of this tank by any of the major TS companies...
Of which i believe , will be wildly successful...I already got a pre-order in for two 38t's...This lead me to thinking , as excited as i am about this release of an item never before made for TS collector's...Where can we go from here ?!
I would say i would love to see , & i am sure this will be based on the 38t's success as a launch...A Hungarian or Romanian version of this tank...Andy/K&C could maybe add two or three Hungarian/Romanian TS's as add on's for the tank release...You could then have some interesting Diorama's being created for the eastern front , by mixing in some Hungarian & Romanian forces with your german troops to set up against the russian's...!
I would also like to see a 35t as well , would fit in well with the early german theme K&C is running with at this time...
& since we are running with this theme , might be nice to see a polish tankette or polish troops...I know i am a greedy bloke , threw that in for my australian friends , you guys are rubbing off on me...i actually put " no worries " in a text message the other day...
So , what does everybody think ?!
Any early war or ww2 items you believe would be successful & that have NEVER been made ?! NEVER being the key word gentlemen...
Something for everybody to chew on...look forward to reading everybody's replies...

Thanks ,

Joe

Nice Marder Blowtorch...I dug up a couple of pic's of the Romanian army using 35t & 38t 's...

T38 and T35, Bulgarian 1st Armored Brigade. Late war

Joe, Do not know much about the history but these seem to be hand me downs from the Germans at the late stage of the war on the Eastern Front. If you have more clues, please share.

Good to have a radio vehicle or a command tank (small Panzer I) to accompany the 2-3 T38s in early war.

Chris ,

What i do know is that Hungary , Slovakia , Romania & Bulgaria had all acquired 35t & 38t's either from Skoda before the takeover of Czechoslovakia or afterwards through Germany...
I also read that as late as 1943 , Germany was still issuing Romania 38t's , because as me & Blowtorch had discussed a while back on the last thread...The German forces were rearming after having encountered the T34's...Germany began using the chassis to create tank destroyers as Blowtorch has a pic of one a few post's earlier...
So , the left-over's so to say were being distrubuted to their allies which had suffered heavy AFV losses...

I think your right manufacturers have to some extent stuck to the safe path of popular releases and, that is understandable. However, there are a myriad of AFV's that still have yet to be done so, hopefully with the resurgence of interest in earlier and off the track AFV's some decent ones will be produced Even some later war variants that have not been done would be welcome

With his access to sales figures, I wonder with what accuracy Andy is able to predict the number of sales for an AFV? If he sells 300 Panzer IIs in 9 months, does it follow that he sells much the same number of PanzerIIIs and at the same speed?

35T Poland, Sept 1939
Instandsetzungskraftwagen I, France, May 1940 (suggestion for German medic set?)
38T Russia, Summer 1941
Polish 7TP (German) Russia, Summer 1941

Mitch,

As a collector I just want to engage my peers to see what thirst for something new there is...!
I am thrilled that Andy has produced the 38t , I honestly never thought I would ever see one made...
But the question remains , as collector's are we not chewing at the bit to go in other directions ?
For example I love Tiger tanks & think Wittman was a superb tank ace , but every time I see new release's from any companies , I would not be surprised to see a new Tiger or Wittman Tiger every other month...
The war involved more combatants , then the us,Germany,uk & Russia...I just thirst for the opportunity
To grow my collection in other areas...ie wouldn't it be nice to have some Romanians,Polish,Bulgarian,Finnish,Greek, or Hungarians...
Which lead me to my thought , since K&C already has the 38t developed wouldn't it be nice to see it as a Romanian or Bulgarian or Hungarian tank ?
Just my thoughts...thanks for everybody's response...

Joe

Jack ,

I would say alot of it has to be a gut reaction , i know that is not bussiness like answer...But i don't think that sales numbers for any one AFV can be used to forecast another's...Take the 38t for example , not a single TS company has ever produced one of these...Where is the forecast ?! You got nothing to compare it to other than feedback from collector's...I for one believe it is going to be a huge hit for K&C , there are only 450 available in three different numbered variant's...I just hope that with it's success maybe Andy will produce a German allie's variant ( Romania,Hungary,Bulgaria or even Slovakian) i guess it can even be done in a captured variant ( Russian) / Maybe then it will lead into a 35t being produced...
More early war , never before made AFV's is what i am going for...I believe the support would be there for this !!
Ohh & Mitch's Sturmtiger as well...

Yes ... with K&C having been successfully in business so long the gut reaction is probably just as easily described as 'an intuitive response to a series of variables based on past experience with the market'. I think mine sounds better but I have no doubt that you are completely right. If it has never been made before it is a leap of faith, but speaking as a collector who does not buy WW2 armour, the popualrity of German tanks is amazing. It often seems as though you could paint the Easter Bunny grey, slap a cross on him and you would still sell 50! Seriously though, I agree, it will sell and sell well and I suppose that eventually means that other, less obvious vehicles will get the K&C treatment.

Definately the 38T before the other vehicles[/QUOTE

PA1944,

it is definitely not in any order of priority. Anyway, most of us who requested for the 38T have put our commitment for it, plus an extra crew set. Hopefully, that helps.

The Skodas' continual service during the war probably shows that they were substantial tanks compared to the Panzer I and II. The 38T and 35T were really a part of the German arsenal, since they continued to be produced. They were not salvaged like the T34 and Char BIS. Once we get over that, I think it helps to get sales and the cause going.

I still remember driving the Skoda Rapide, a sort of poor man's 911. The heavier back can cause a dramatic oversteer.
