2009 Britains Catalogue (2 Viewers)

Your shelf dioramas are awesome, Ken. I'm looking forward to getting one later this year.

1879fanatic did you receive your Victorian Era 9 pdr.cannons from Fleurbaix Toy Soldiers yet? I haven't been able to get a response from them.

Breaker, Breaker, that's a Big negative! I'm kind of disappointed with Fr. Greg, but he had e-maile me back in Dec to say that the molds were being flown in from the UK, again, Something about the quality:confused::(.
Still waiting. Maybe you could take a roadtrip dressed up as "Mad Max" and give him a little visit:rolleyes:

I'm hoping Britains does a couple of Zulu War 7pdr sets like the they did with the Confederate guns and crews. However, in the meantime I am going to try to get a couple of the Fleurbaix cannons if I can get them to answer.

I did find a store, Tarrants Toy Soldiers, on the internet that shows a Gatling gun and crew and a Gardner and crew. I think the they're running into the same problem with actually producing the item to sell.

Anyway if you do get the cannons from Fleurbaix please post some photos.

Breaker,
That's Mountford Metal Miniatures if I recall...Will post if I ever get anything...I dislike paying for something 4 months prior to receipt, and no update while waiting.

This is a little closer view of the Rebs running the gun back into position after firing. Notice the dirty water running off of the sponge and into the sponge bucket. When firing these live you can really get filthy in the #1 position. I still have some Sky Blue Kersey trousers with one leg permanently stained grey from dirty sponge water.

All the Best!
Ken

Ken a really superb Reb artillery set and the artillery officer and flag-bearer shown in the new catalogue-top of my expenditure list for 2009.

The three Reb generals are something else as well that will at last save me from having to convert old figures into a realistic looking Hill, Hood and Longstreet-any chance of Sam Grant and his staff anytime in the future as I am currently in Spotsylvania with my dio and running out of my small stock of different posed figures of him.

It is just the question how many artillery sets you can fit in a collector's battlefield... - I have the (older but TOP) three Conte sets and the first Britains in a line of spending fire and hell. - Nearly enough, I think. No mor space on the battleground... - I hope of coming Zulu War specials: canons, wagons, an artillery limber with horses and men.

Hi Guys:

Back from two weeks in the UK and France doing shows, sales calls and line planning for 2010!

Let me try and answer some questions:

1) The sheep and farmhouse will appear in a Spring/Summer catalog and will be available last part of 2009.
2) Well spotted on the two new Zulus (got to admit - did it on purpose - and knew the LT. would be the first to find it!)- they are indeed some as yet unshown new releases and will appear with a bevy of more new Zulu War figures in a Spring/Summer catalog for release in the last part of 2009.

Thanks for the nice feedback on the catalog.

Be good,

Richard

Hello Peter,

Thanks very much posting the new 2009 William Britain catalogue.

This is well worth a good read every year.

Unfortunately, the Victoria Cross section appears to have been dropped for this issue.

I hope this is not the end of the line of my favourite series.:(

Please WB, bring this section back with new figures, hopefully in gloss finish.

Best Regards, Raymond.:)

Hello Richard,

Hope you had a good and rewarding trip across the pond.

I thought I would put the question directly to you about the Victoria Cross section.

Is this the end of the line of my favourite series?

Thanks and Best Regards, Raymond.

Dear Raymond:

Randy was right on the money, we will continue to add to the Victoria Cross ranges through single figure additions in the Redcoats series. So, Victoria Cross as a stand alone range will indeed disappear but the units that appeared in the series will receive reinforcements through Redcoats.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks,

Richard

Dear Richard,

Thank you very much for your reply. Your answer does make sense and is quite reasonable.

My impression is that the Victoria Cross series may not have had as wide an appeal as others in the entire William Britain range.

I suspect the Crimean War sets faired better than the Indian Mutiny sets.

There are several fans of the 93rd Highlanders at Balaclava. The painting of the "Thin Red Line" by Robert Gibb has captured the imagination of many collectors.

To the best of my knowledege, there appear to be only 2 manufacturers which have ready painted figures (in gloss) for a full line up for a Thin Red Line diorama.

When my photography improves to a fraction of what Randy can produce, I shall post images of my "Fighting 93rd".

Thanks Again and Best Regards, Raymond.

Thanks for the update Richard this is good to here hopefully we will see a few more 93rd highlanders from the battle of balaclava down the line!?!!!

I was also wondering if Richard or someone else from britains could drop any hints as to what this years Limited Edition band is going to be? & when we might be seeing a preview of it? :D  :D

Look for the band in an August catalog. It will be a British Victorian era band.
