2009 Favourite Releases (1 Viewer)

Being an armor fan, I liked the following:

FW049 - British Mark IV
DD116 - Cromwell
IF009 - Semovente M40-75/18
AK050 - Panzer III Tank
BBG021 - Jagdpanzer IV

As far as the Me 163 Komet, I'm thinking it may be a little too obscure compared to other iconic aircraft such as the Spitfire, P-51 Mustang or the German Ju 87 Stuka. Definitely appreciate the Me 163 and Me 262 for the technological achievement, but I don't think they made much of an impact though. Probably similar to why Tiger tanks sell out quickly, they are just plain popular and iconic.

There has been so much great stuff this year, but without going back and looking through all the dispatches I'd have to say my favorite '09 release would be the latest group of Crusaders, particularly the mounted ones; the Templars are stunning. The Cromwell tank definitely stands out as does the Crusader tank and the new German Bulge edition radio truck. The new Bulge Germans are fantastic as is the German set that features the wonded officer and German Shephard. Of course the landing crafts and Atlantic Wall sets are outstanding, but I didn't really like the Indian soldier in the Atlantic Wall set; it draws attention away from the focus of the piece, IMHO, but nonetheless, still a great piece. The English soldiers storming the beaches are amazing figures, and I enjoy the Canadian figures as well, but the Brits are really special figures, and I hope more are added to the line someday. Well, I guess I like a lot of the '09 releases, which is really no surprise :p!. Thanks K & C for your reliability and awesomeness in general :)!! Great stuff!

My favorite this year has been the RAF pilots. I really like when King and Country does personalities; it seems to make the figures more real, as if they could come to life. The experience with the figure is more engaging too, because you can research the lives they lived on the internet. I thought the Italian figures were really cool too.

The Cromwell tank for me is one of the best AFV K&C has done.If the new Tiger is realeased next month that will be my best.Simmo.
 
The Landing Craft Assault and the Cromwell are my two favourite K&C pieces of the year, closely followed by the Hurricane.
The Commonwealth D-Day figures and the RAF figures are very good too.
This was definately the year when the Allied ranges took the honours.
 
I'd have to agree with both Sammy & Gary about the M2A2 105mm Howitzer being my pick of the year. Both the reproduction of the gun and the way the figures have been posed and sculpted would put it on top.

I suppose I'm being SO biased, being an ex-gunner who has served on this gun, but its good!

But.... I haven't got one in my collection, and I won't as I don't really collect figures from the 1900's, I much prefer the colourful eras, so the only new K&C from this year that I have is NA183 the Napoleon's standing 16th Dragoons Officer

Oh, the new ACW releases also look excellent, although I don't collect this period.

There's also something about the RAF insignia that's just very cool.

I dont want to start a argument or hijack the thread but IMO when they release a ME109,or/and a Stuka it will sell just as well,but back to the question my fav was well there was 2 Steyr 1500 FunkKraftwagen and Sd. Kfz. 251/22 "Pakwagen" Ausf. D (both versions)and the Civil war releases in July (mounted confederates) i think it was,nearly swung me to start collecting that series.

Although they have different viewpoints I kind of agree with both Brad and Wayne.I agree with Brad in that in my view the Spit and Hurricane will always sell more because they symbolise the victory in the Battle of Britain and the defeat of the Luftwaffe.You see, as much as you can love a machine (in this case aircraft)people truly love the Spitfire and Hurricane,people have come up to me at the museum and said it to me dozens of times.I show them all round the museum and so many times they look up to see the Spit and say 'Thats what I came to see'.So many people across the world have affection for the two planes as they represent Victory and defiance.

I also agree with Wayne in that the German planes will sell well,ME109's will always sell plenty for their role in the battle.However I just don't think the same level of affection is GENERALLY held for German aircraft(except by those who flew them of course)its not the fault of the aircraft of course its simply because they were on the 'other side 'as it were,and this is perfectly understandable. It would be a little odd if the ME was more popular around the world than the Spit after all!:eek::D

Actually I am more looking forward to the Stuka myself,made loads of ME's and FW's in my youth and so the Stuka will be very welcome.

My favorites would have to be the new bulge stuff. All of it this year was really good.
 
My favourite would have to be NA 191 Saving the boy from this years Napoleonic collection.:D

What an fantastic figure, with the Coldstreamer Sergeant carrying the young boy ensign.

Truly breath taking. Well done King and Country.

I got mine as a very early Christmas present.:D

Sorry ive changed my mind my favourite piece this year is the ME109 (AK) released next month to escort Rommels taxi........:D
 
while all the releases were very good I have to say the new RAF is my favorite....I will continue to purchase any of that set in the coming months or years .......

I agree,so good to get Heroes like Dowding and Bader amongst the releases,I want every set in this range.

The recent Australian Light Horse range is my favorite release since I started collecting K & C :D

I may be biased as my Grandfather served mostly in Egypt, but to me the Desert theater of WWI had all the romance and mystery and little of the horror that we tend to associate with the Western Front.

And with Lawrence of Arabia making an appearance recently surely some Rolls Royce Armored Cars and Bedouins on Camels can't be far away.
 
No, just Wayne being Wayne unless he's referring to the wooden version.
 
My favourite is the Green MG sports car with RAF pilot. I think it because I had Green MG I bought one new in 1954. Loved that car :)wish i still had it.
