2015 College Football (4 Viewers)

The ratings were down close to 40% for the semi final games last night vs last year.

IMO, it's idiotic to have the games on New Years Eve; people have plans, whether they be dinner, parties, concerts/clubs, etc, etc. I went to a house party; downstairs in the family room, people wanted to switch over to the Dick Clark New Years Eve show around 11:00, which was fine as the game was a blowout, but what if it was close? Upstairs, people were playing some video game on the TV in the living room, so I would have been out of luck.

The playoff system is great, but the games need to be on New Years day.

As far as the rest of the bowl games; great for the alumni to watch the games, but outside of them, who gives a rats *** about them, I didn't watch 2 seconds of any of the games today, not to mention they were all blow outs.
No doubt about it, putting the semi-final games on New Year's Eve was a bone-headed call. Worked fine for me, since I don't go anywhere, but for the other 99.99999999% of the population, it was an idiot decision. The one night of the year where practically no one is at home in front of the tube...just brilliant.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Jason,
Stanford is off to a good start in the Rose.:smile2: -- Al

Al:

It was a true blowout. The final score made it seem closer than it truly was.

Stanford's 21 first quarter points is a Rose Bowl record. McCaffrey was dominant. He set a Rose Bowl record with 368 all-purpose yards plus he became the first player in Rose Bowl history to have 100+ yards rushing and 100+ yards receiving.

I am most proud of the fact that Stanford has proven that a college can have an elite football program while adhering to some of the strictest academic standards in the world.

Almost turned off the Oregon/TCU game at the half but I remembered Md/Miami from a few decades back so I watched and was rewarded with an epic el foldo by the Quackers. Another fine example of pin-ball football but glad I stayed around. -- Al

Al:

Both of the games were great yesterday.

Clemson-Bama should make for an interesting match up. This has the feel of being Clemson's year, but Bama has been a machine on a major roll like Ohio St. finished last year. Unstoppable. A Bama win makes it all the more likely Saban unveils his George W. "mission accomplished" banner and moves on to a cushy NFL job in Dallas, NY, or SF. That's the only reason I have to pull for either team.

Reading in the press today that Bama pays its strength and condition guy $600K/yr. They also built a $10 million dollar workout facility. Not hard to understand how old Nick does so well. The sky is the limit when it comes to spending money for football. Too bad the state's public schools are falling to the ground though.

Those kinds of dollars going to coachs, facilities, and such are the exact reason some people feel the players should be able to benefit from the huge flow of money to the college football programs. The players take all the risk for a very tiny shot at the pros, while most players will never even finish the education that the colleges do provide. In name only are college sports amateur. It is a joke. -- Al

Time for the last rodeo. I think this is a pick'em game but I'm going with Bama. They have been red hot and have the physical O and D to wear out Clemson. It should be close until the end when Bama finishes them off. The Lame Kiffin factor is hanging out there though. He is tight in big games and it wouldn't surprise me if Bama goes conservative. If Clemson can stop the meat and potatoes runs and short passes, Bama might be in trouble.

The Pick: Bama 38 Clemson 30.

It's gonna be a goodie. Can't go against the Tide but it wouldn't break my heart if Clemson found a way to win. For my brother's sake, Bama better win. He has no sense of humor about their losing, ever. :rolleyes2: -- Al

He sounds like my son; I've told him he should move to Alabama ^&grin

I hope it is not a blow out as I do not care who wins, I just want to see a good game.

Love them or hate them, both of these teams belong. 1 versus 2 is the way it should be.

Brad, my brother went to Bama when THE Bear ruled supreme and as a result, he bleeds Crimson. He is normally a VERY mild-mannered, even keeled type of individual, which completely changes when he watches Bama play. Family members have been known to move their seats away from him during games and publicly deny knowing him. After the game, all is OK again, unless Bama loses. We are all surprised he hasn't moved back to Bama but fully expect him to do so when he retires in a couple of years. He is a true fan. -- Al

All,

Yes I am a Texan but........................ROLL TIDE!

I almost forgot this game was on tonight.

The NCAA really screwed the pooch with the semi finals and now this game, no build up at all.

Tickets prior to the game were going for below face value, as in FAR below, which is pathetic.

I don't think anyone outside of Alabama or Clemson really cares, short the Bama haters out there.

So, the Clemson coaches name is really Dabo?

Dabo?

So Cleatus, Bubba and Floyd were already taken then?

Well, if Florida State can have a Jimbo, it's only fair Clemson has a Dabo.

A bit surprised that this game is so even at the half. Honestly thought Bama would walk away with this but Clemson has hung tough and actually has a few more offensive yards, while their pass rush has unsettled Coker. Still another half to go but I still see Bama winning this, but it looks to be a lot closer than I figured. -- Al

I was wondering about that to so here is the explanation:

If you are wondering why Swinney goes by Dabo instead of Will or Bill, as most people named William are more likely to go by for short, you can go back to when Swinney was an infant. Swinney’s older brother, Tripp, 15 months old at the time, constantly tried to say “that boy” when referring to his brother. But as 15-month olds tend to do, he was not particularly articulate with his pronunciation and it came out sounding more like “Dabo,” and apparently that nickname stuck with him from that point on.

Only in America do you have a person named Dabo.

Coleman brother can't be too happy right now.

I actually had forgot about the game and it's being played here in Arizona!!! sorry but my big college bowl games of old ended around the 1st, 2nd of January, now here it is the 11th and we're playing the championship?? I like the college bowl playoffs but would be nice if they could wrap up the bowl games before the NFL playoffs start, maybe have the college playoffs start a week sooner so the Championship could fall in somewhere around 1st of Jan??...Sammy

This is one terrific game. I think the kick return TD just sealed it. -- Al

Have to admit, this game is more exciting than the four NFL dumpster fires we were subjected to yesterday.

And as I type this, Alabama runs the kickoff back for a TD, Alabama has outscored Clemson 17 to 3 over the last ten minutes or so.
