Sounds like a good hire. I read today they are renaming the MD football stadium.
Yeah, they voted to rename the stadium from 'Byrd' to the ever original 'Maryland'. Boy, the mind boggles at such originality.:rolleyes2: More out-of-control PC. Byrd made that school what it is so why not erase his name? -- Al

Biggest game of the season this Saturday...Army v Navy! Go Navy! Beat Army! Anchors aweigh! -- Al
Navy wins a hard fought game, but Army could have won with a little more luck. They turned the ball over 3 times and missed a FG, all in the 4th quarter. The Navy defense rose to the occasion. Navy now has won 14 straight against Army. Good game. -- Al

Navy defense played very well, but boy, it almost looked like Army didn't want to win at the end

Navy went out on top with a big win in the Military Bowl, 44-28, over Pittsburgh. Navy ends the season at 11-2, the first 11 win campaign in USNA history. Navy Qb Keenan Reynolds ends his career in spectacular fashion with 317 total yards (126 passing, 144 rushing, 47 receiving) and 4 total Td's (3 rushing and 1 passing). How he didn't win the Heisman, or at least make the top 3, is a qreat question and a huge injustice. Go Navy! Fantastic year.:salute:: -- Al

Al:

And after that win Reynolds and the other seniors on the Navy team will now serve their country for 5 years. Congrats to them all with a huge thank you as well.

A review of Keenan Reynolds 4 year football career at the USNA reveals some remarkable achievements: In 4 years Reynolds accounted for 9806 total yards, passing, rushing and 1 pass reception. He scored 88 rushing Td's and threw for 31, a total of 119 Td's. Navy was a rush-heavy team on offense so it is not surprising that Reynolds ran for 4758 yards but he also passed for 5001 yards on only 462 attempts (242 completions). As said, he threw for 31 total Td's, but only threw 8 interceptions over the 4 years. Over his career, Reynolds averaged 2451 yards from scrimmage and scored 30 Td's, per year. What a remarkable athlete.
How did this man not win a Heisman Trophy with these stats? I demand a recount.^&grin -- Al

As of right now I'm sitting in the top .02% of the ESPN Bowl Mania...about 400th place overall. It'll probably fall apart soon, but so far so good :)

With Clemson leading 30-17 going to the 4th, I'm beginning to think Clemson is for real.:rolleyes2: Anyway, their defense is pretty good. -- Al

Al:

As you know I am a big supporter of Stanford. I feel like McCaffrey's should have beaten out Henry for the Heisman. However, I think Reynolds should have beaten them both.

Jason, it has been a long time since a service academy got any respect like the Heisman. I think Staubach out of Navy in 1963 was the last one. It would have been nice to see Reynolds' efforts recognized but he didn't play for one of the football factories, just a small service academy. -- Al

Quite unexpected manhandling of Oklahoma. Never though that would happen as I figured Clemson was over rated. Money lost on this one. Still don't think Clemson can hang with Bama if it comes to that. -- Al

Bama dominating Mich.St. and it looks like Bama v Clemson for the marbles. Me thinks Clemson is in for a long night. -- Al

AL:

I think you are right. 'Bama looks like a steamroller right now.

-Jason
Jason, I sure don't like Clemson's chances. The Spartans hung tough in the 1st half but Bama just crushed the life out of them in the 2nd, no contest. If I were a betting man, I know where my money would go.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

I am a Bama fan and I am nervous after watching Clemson. Where Bama vs. MSU was strength versus strength, I think Clemson has strengths that match up against Bama's weaknesses. I quarterback who can throw or run, receivers who match up well against Bama's secondary. I think it is a really good match-up that could give Bama fits.

Jason,
Stanford is off to a good start in the Rose.:smile2: -- Al

Stanford is a beast. Amazing that this is the same team that got whipped by NW to start the season. As far as Bama, I'm hoping they win out and Saban moves on to the Cowboys next year. My poor Trojans have to play the Tide to start the season next year. Maybe Lame Kiffin gets handed the HC and begins to destroy everything Saban has done. Just about my only hope.

Iowa kicks a FG to make the score 38-3, late in the 3rd. Managed to avoid the shutout. BFD.:rolleyes2: -- Al

The ratings were down close to 40% for the semi final games last night vs last year.

IMO, it's idiotic to have the games on New Years Eve; people have plans, whether they be dinner, parties, concerts/clubs, etc, etc. I went to a house party; downstairs in the family room, people wanted to switch over to the Dick Clark New Years Eve show around 11:00, which was fine as the game was a blowout, but what if it was close? Upstairs, people were playing some video game on the TV in the living room, so I would have been out of luck.

The playoff system is great, but the games need to be on New Years day.

As far as the rest of the bowl games; great for the alumni to watch the games, but outside of them, who gives a rats *** about them, I didn't watch 2 seconds of any of the games today, not to mention they were all blow outs.
