2015 NHL season (1 Viewer)

Again, big time congrats to Tom and rekp on winning the Cup.

Also, a huge thanks to all of you for letting me be a part of one of my favorite non-toy soldier threads on this forum.

and it is never too early to say it, GO SHARKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to the Pens fans. I knew it would not happen but I think Jones should have won the Smyth. If not for him SJ would have been embaressed in this series.
George I take it Kessel is "fatso" what don't you like about him?
Gary

As a Bruins fan ... how 'bout everything, right George! :wink2:

What? There was a hockey thread? We are talking ice hockey! In June, right..As a Rangers fan, I stoped thinking about the sport a few months ago. Michael

The Pens turned out to clearly be the best team in the playoffs. They played great to end the season and that continued to the Cup. The big stars on the Sharks didn't show up for the finals. I think only Burns really played up to his potential and Jones kept them in a couple of games but that was not enough to get it done. The others disappeared after having a huge playoff run. And congrats to the Lake Erie Monsters for taking the Calder Cup. They went something like 15-2 in the playoffs.

Is it just me or does the idea of an NHL team in Vegas seem really strange?

Sounds better than Nashville, Miami (Panthers), Phoenix, Charlotte. Should be Quebec, Hamilton, or any other city in Canada.

It was like 120 degrees there when they made the announcement. If the AC goes out it will become water polo real fast. I do hope they come up with a good name. Tucson just got an AHL team and named it the Roadrunners. Not very original but not horrible.

The owner of the new Las Vegas team wants to call them the Black Knights because he (owner) has some connection to West Point. That name is not written in stone.
Gary

I would go with the Scorpions, Rat Pack, or Wayne Newtons. Imagine the mascot possibilities.

I think Phoenix has had a few minor league hockey teams named the Roadrunners. I went to one of their games on .25 cent beer night a few years ago. It was just one giant party that almost turned into a riot. They stopped selling beer at the end of the second period.

Sounds like my kind of hockey game....................hockey's a great sport, plus it's not rigged....................:wink2:

Hockey is the last fun sport. There is still fighting and most of the players are blue collar guys. They haven't quite ruined it yet with a lot of PC nonsense and money but it won't be long. I go to AHL games where 25 dollars gets a great seat and a hot dog costs one dollar on dollar dog night. They have bizarre promos and the Boy Scouts sing the national anthem often off key. A lot of fun.

It was an absolute blast. I am not sure they ever did it again, but if they did I would go!

Five kids from St Louis who learned their hockey in St Louis were taken in the first 30 selections. That's remarkable. When I first ice skated in the early 70's there were 2 rinks in the whole St Louis area.

The Habs traded PK Subban to Nashville for Weber..................holy crap, that might be THE worst trade in hockey history and I can say that as a fan of team that traded away Tyler Seguin for next to nothing.

So the West gets stronger and the East gets weaker.

Edmonton traded Taylor Hall for some tomato can mediocre defenseman.............Peter Chiarelli strikes again, what a buffoon...........................

The Taylor Hall trade really struck me as odd? In the last 4 years Hall has scored the third most points among left wingers, the two guys ahead of him are Ovechkin and Jaime Benn. In return they got a stay at home defensemen who scored 20 points last year? There had to be something better out there?

I don't get either of these trades. But we don't know what is behind the scenes. Edmonton, how can you have so many high draft picks year after year after year and be so bad?
