2015 NHL season (4 Viewers)

Gary, Jason.

Another exciting one. The Pens got the shot they needed, nailbiter!

Even though low score, there were a lot of shots. Exciting and of course I am happier than Jason this morning.

Tom:

I had a bad feeling when Crosby and Sheary/Letang chatted before that face-off that led to the winning goal. Almost like hearing a round get chambered in the dark, I just knew something bad was going to happen. Again, like game 1 they deserved to win. It is the perfect storm, the Pens are playing great hockey and the Sharks seem to be tired and one step behind.

Onto game 3. The Pens have not played in the Pacific time zone since December. I know I am grasping at straws but I hope this effects their game and the Sharks finally win.

This is not the SJ team that beat the Blues. Maybe St Louis took all the steam from their engines.
Gary

They look like the classic "just happy to be there" team.

Imagine at one point both of these teams were 10th in their respective conferences, now both are in the finals.

Also, imagine that whale Phil Kessel is going to get his name on the Stanley Cup, that's just all kinds of awesome.

Great ratings for the finals by the way; they pulled a 1.9 so far.............Gilligans Island reruns are getting more attention.

Outside of Pittsburg and San Jose, no one seems to care.

Oh wait, there's a guy in England who cares.

Hockey is just not the national sport that football is, or basketball for that matter........................

I'm not taking anything away from the Pens at all. What I'm saying, like panzer said, they don't look like the team I saw "wup" the Blues. If they get there mojo back, they will beat Pittsburgh.
Gary

Weird stat of the day:

Since March 11 the Golden State Warriors are 28-8 (including the playoffs) and the Penguins are 28-8 (including the playoffs).

San Jose was a poor home team during the regular season. Down 0-2 they basically have to go 3-0 at home and get a split in Pittsburgh against a team that hasn't lost many back to back games since Dec. Almost an impossible task. I'm pulling for the Sharks but they blew it last night. Holding the Pens to one goal in regulation and not getting a win was a killer. I agree with George that they look glad to be there at this point. It's going to take a lot more than that to beat a red hot Pens team four times in five games.

Pittsburg falls into the "got hot at the right time" team, they floated through the regular season, got hot at the right time and are two wins away from a championship. Not to mention they're getting huge efforts out of role players, third line guys who are having the playoffs of their lives, that's what it takes to win a championship, contributions from unexpected sources.

Still a long way to go, but I can't see them blowing this now, they'd have to lose two games at home, I can't see San Jose sweeping at home.

Like you said, they blew it last night, holding them to one goal (naturally Kessel gets it, what a bunny that thing was, 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of professional, amateur and pee wee hockey players tap that thing in for a goal) and they still lost........................

Good points, but I never say its over til LuLu starts singing................ But the points are valid after 2 years of "all star" signings by the Pens only to look like the Yankees of Hockey when it doesn't work. This year, the "stars" are more of the enablers and the lower lines are the "stars". I just hope it holds my friends! (Jason, loser buys the beer in March!!!!!!)

In the playoffs, it's the role players who make or break your chances; when the Bruins won the cup in 2011, they won because of the contributions they got from their 3rd and 4th lines. You need someone to come out of nowhere and shine bright when the lights get the brightest....................

Tom:

Agreed regarding the beers and/or drinks.

I still have hope and it all starts with one game and one win. However if they lose game 3 it is all but over.

It could have been worse, how about a Tampa vs. San Jose final?

It's got more to do with hockey is just not a popular national sport in this country.

That said; yikes, what a ratings disaster that would have been.

I am happy the Sharks got the win but Pittsburgh still seems to be the better team. Right now it seems like San Jose is relying on getting a lucky bounce etc., while the Pens are relying on their skill.

I'd venture to say that they next game is the most important of the series.

A win is a win. The Pens certainly have got more than their fair share of OT luck. Obviously, game 4 is a must win for the Sharks. If they can make this 2-2, it gets interesting. 1-3 going back to Pittsburgh and they are toast. The Pens have done a good job staying out of the penalty box. The Sharks were lethal on the power play and need some more opportunities in this series.

I'm shocked that fatso on the Penguins didn't score in OT, he's got what, 900 goals so far in the playoffs.

Shoot high glove side on the Penguins goalie and keep shooting high glove side.

Ok, things just got even more difficult. It is not over yet, a 3-1 lead is not insurmountable, when the going gets tough the tough get going.

Oh wait, the Sharks need goals, not cliches.

All jokes aside, the Penguins were the better team in game 4 and deserved to win. On to game 5 where hope is fading fast.

I am hoping for a win...:) Seriously, good series, close games, I hope the Pens can close.

The Sharks had 21 power plays in the five game series against the Kings. Only 8 in this series. The refs have swallowed the whistles and that is killing the Sharks given how lethal their PP was in the earlier rounds.

Wow as an unbiased observer, sorry panzer, but the Sharks look pretty bad. I picked them in 5 as they just crushed the Blues. Not that the Pens look overwhelming it's more the Sharks look bad. Hope the Pens win it at home.

Why is it a ref issue . If you read the Pens website it is actually a plan . They recognized how strong the Sharks pp was and have taken steps to negate it by not conceding penalties . Just admit that you are being outplayed and out thought by the opposition and not blame it on the officials, weather , brand of underwear etc etc
