2015 NHL season (2 Viewers)

Why is it a ref issue . If you read the Pens website it is actually a plan . They recognized how strong the Sharks pp was and have taken steps to negate it by not conceding penalties . Just admit that you are being outplayed and out thought by the opposition and not blame it on the officials, weather , brand of underwear etc etc

I'm a Kings fan and could care less. The fact is that fewer penalties are being called. Do you think the Pens are simply smarter than other teams who couldn't figure out that power plays are not good? LOL. The officials let them play in the final round. That is just a fact proven by the stats. The Sharks are a great PP team so it hurts their chances.

If the Pens do win it (and they still have to win one game) I hope they do it on home ice as it would be the first time a Pittsburgh team won a championship at home since 1960.

I guess I knew that but also read that again this morning. Pittsburgh has been fortunate as a city to win in a number of sports, but the majority have not been at home (Not that the NFL would be), but baseball and hockey have been away. (Fortunately, 2 times for Baseball was in Baltimore!:)) Just kidding Sammy.

Anyhow, I will take a win anywhere.

A little off the subject but I always liked the fact that all of the pro sports franchises from Pittsburgh have the same team colors.

One more comment about my team, Blues. Even tho we did not get to the finals we are going to have major salary cap problems for the upcoming year. Guess this goes with having an elite team.

The Penguins originially had a very cool colored uniform, sort of a teal color, I liked their jersey a lot as a kid even though their team stunk on ice.

They changed the colors over the objections of the Bruins, who also wore the black and gold, but the league green lighted it.

Later that season, they played the Bruins in the playoffs, I remember a lot of fans in the stands were wearing shirts that read "Pittsburg; city of champions" with the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins all pictured in black and gold uniforms, it went up the Bruins players tailpipes sideways since the Penguins weren't the champions of anything at the time.

They got demolished by the Bruins, swept as a matter of fact.

They got even with the Bruins in the playoffs several years later though, so they've got that going for them, which is nice..................

We don't get mad we always get even! Seriously, I remember 79, special year but the pens didn't close the deal!

Tom can you say the name Jones? He was the reason. Doubt he has 2 more games like that under his belt. But as you know win game 6 at home, very do-able, and a lucky bounce can win a game 7.
It's so nice to watch and not have your team involved, (not really).

Yup, he stood on his head last night and won that game for the Sharks; a hot goalie in the finals is never a good thing for the other team.

Like Gary said, we'll see what happens going forward, but again as he said, win at home in game 6 and take your chances in game 7........................would be cool to see, nothing like a game 7.........

If they are going to pull this off, it appears that "Jones Avenue" will be the route that the Sharks take.

Congratulations to the Penguins and all of their fans. They deserved to win the Cup.

Thanks Jason, the Sharks were certainly just as worthy and I would bet they would swap 7 game series. Cya in March unless you make Chitown this year!!!!

Crosby wins the MVP..............seriously? Zero, as in NO, goals in the finals, a negative +/- for the playoffs and he wins it?

What about Letang, who was a beast in the playoffs, or the goalie with the worst mask in the history of hockey, or fatso, who was the Penguins leading scorer in the playoffs, Crosby was at best the fourth choice.

What a joke, the Canadian writers voted for him because..................well, because he's Canadian.

Awesome.

And I see the commissioner got boo'd out of the building (as usual)....................the Penguins are living proof you can burp and fart your way through the season, make the playoffs, make a deal or two at the trading deadline, ride some red hot, nobody tomato can of a goalie and presto, Stanley Cup Champions.

UK Rep is running wild in the streets of London wearing his Penguins jersey at the moment.....................:wink2:

I don't think Bob is a huge hockey fan but rekp definitely is :wink2:

Anyway, congrats to Tom (and rekp) on the Cup.

Letang is one of those guys that I really don't like but I temper my comments about him because if he was on my team he'd probably be one of my favorite players, the same thing goes for Kessel.

No just quietly smiling . The laugh is its my mates who is a devout Blackhawks fan ( ie visits the states to watch them ) birthday today which means we won 2009 and 2016 Stanleys on his birthday . Also quite relieved that I can now shave my playoff beard off , was beginning to attract homeless birds .

Congrats to the Pens fans. I knew it would not happen but I think Jones should have won the Smyth. If not for him SJ would have been embaressed in this series.
George I take it Kessel is "fatso" what don't you like about him?

He was drafted by the Bruins and is obviously talented; he refused to play defense, Julien begged and pleaded with him to play two way hockey, he refused and shot his way out of town, traded to the Maple Laughs for two first round draft picks.

He's a slug.

A talented one, but a slug.

Now his name is on Lord Stanley's Cup for all eternity, so he's got that going for him, which is nice.

Guaranteed when it's his turn to have the cup for a few days, he'll fill it full of ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry.
