2017 Baseball Season: Let's Play Two! (1 Viewer)

An impressive game by uBADo and the win leaves them only 4.5 out of the WC, 2 games less than a couple of days ago. -- Al

As always this season my O's do just enough to keep my baseball sanity, is there any real chance that with the trade deadline passed and this team is still intact, can they get some confidence in that?? somewhere deep inside I still think this team has the ability to do so, IF and that is a big if the pitching could just become more consistent, Gausman seems to have found his way back, plus the new pitcher from Philly may help?? some hard series ahead so we shall see.

The Cubs have given a World Series ring to the fan who interferred with a foul ball a number of years back and nearly was lynched when the Cubs lost the playoff game. ESPN did a great show on how this guy was hounded for years and his life nearly destroyed. It probably is considered good PR to give him a ring but really don't see the purpose.

Was watching the MLB network talk show and the announcers were making all sorts of fun of the ring awarded to Bartman. They couldn't see the point. Russo was especially outraged. Bartman himself was very thankful but said he was not deserving of the ring. Maybe the Cubs should have awarded the ring to all the fans over the years who passed away never having seen the championship, set in a nice memorial at the stadium. Whatever. -- Al

Duquette obviously believes the O's can still contend. A little pitching and he could be right. I think the reason the O's made no big moves in the market was because of Angelos. I think he tied Duquette's hands by keeping the final decision on any moves in his own hands. The O's reportedly wanted a king's ransom for Britton, on Angelos' orders. I don't know if Helickson will make any real impact on the O's pitching, but as I said earlier in the thread, he probably can't hurt. If Bundy stays steady, if Gausman continues to improve, and if Helickson helps out, the O's could make a run. Lots of big ifs though, especially combined with the offensive troubles, but I'm still in if the O's are.:wink2: -- Al

Deals can still be made; players just have to go through waivers.

Don't worry Louis, just get him on that MFY training program that A-Roid, Clemens, Petite, Giambi and Quasimodo were/are all on and he'll be fine. I'll predict he'll be lights out the rest of the year and the MFY's will win the AL East going away.

Some stooge tweeted today "The Sonny Gray deal gets the Yankees even with Houston"..................The Houston Texans? The Houston Oilers? He can't mean the Astros, who are cooking with gas right now?

Love the lofty expectations..............................

I have no such lofty expectations. I think the world series will be Astros vs. Dodgers. I had absolutely no expectations coming into the year, now I am hopeful that the Yankees make the playoffs.

As far as the training program, Clemens clearly brought it with him from Boston . . . Manny being Manny (and failing multiple tests), Ortiz going from never hitting 20 homers in a season to hitting 45 in an injury shortened season as soon as he went to beantown. They all cheated back in the 90's and 2000's . . . it certainly wasn't limited to our teams, but neither of our teams was innocent.

Yup, we all had them, O's had Palmerio, Brady Anderson (who swears he never touched any steroids) but I'm afraid I do not buy into that one, Hell, we even had Sammy Sosa for a year or so, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few more, but that was sadly the norm back then, you certainly don't think "your" team has cheaters but sadly as Louis stated no team was innocent back then.

"Clemens clearly brought it with him from Boston".........you're ****ting me, right Louis? Clemens was 38-39 over the last four years of his final contract before he left Boston as a free agent for the Blue Jays "To be closer to Texas", he THEN got on steroids and was lights out for Toronto before moving on to the MFY's, he was a fat slob when he left Boston.

If you're going to rip a Red Sox player, get your facts strait.

What a tire fire your post is; good effort, good job.

Sorry Louis but you're offbase on this one. As George said he was awful in the last part of his career with the Sox. He bulked up with the Jays and brought his show to the Yankees.

I forgot how much fun it is to watch when your team has solid pitching and timely hitting!!!! Bundy is killing it tonight, 3 hit 1 run for a KC that came in red hot, O's have no hr's but 15 hits up 7-1, this have been a fun game...let's close it out without any drama please.

Bundy through 8 with 0 earned runs. He doesn't look so tired to me, but they did get him extra rest. Maybe the O's will have to do that if it keeps yielding such results. When was the last time the O's had 15 hits and 0 Hrs? Darned if I can remember it. -- Al

Its called a metaphor George (look it up, you'll get it). I was using Clemens to tie steroids back to one of the worst offenders of the period, the Red Sox, whose biggest players were all obviously dirty. I notice you didn't challenge my assessments of your two biggest stars, Manny and Ortiz.

And Brad, as an attorney you should be familiar with the concept, and not jump on the "literal" bandwagon.

Well our new guy Hellickson starts on Wed. then back to Gausman, Yanks losing in the bottom of 9th 4-3 coming up.. but if it holds only 5.5 out??:confused: one never knows in this crazy game.

You implied he was dirty while in Boston, which he was not.

Spin it anyway you want, you were wrong.

Ortiz has never been busted for PED's, unless you believe the BS that he was but MLB squashed it because he's a swell guy while A-ROID got busted because he's an NERD, you're assuming he took them because everyone else did.

That's quite a reach.

If he did take PED's, he bought the bottom of the barrel type as for most of his career, he had a gut and a half, something you would not have if you were on PED's.

He's going into the Hall of Fame, somewhere Clemens and A-ROID will never enter unless they buy a ticket.

The Red Sox were one of the biggest offenders for PED's Louis? Really? How many of their players got busted? The MFY's had Clemens, A-ROID, Giambi and Petite, that's four right there, you tell me Quasimodo isn't on the sauce, he was crap in the minors, now he gets to the majors and he's hitting home runs into the next time zone.

The Red Sox won three WS titles, so they are cheating, just like the Patriots have won five Super Bowls, been to seven, been to six AFCCG's in a row because they cheated too right?

How's that for a challenge?

No bandwagon jumping counselor but a mild attempt to correct some very erroneous facts on your part regarding that psycho. Who can forget that homer announcer Suzyn Waldman's freakout over Clemens coming back to the Yankees.

Hope she's ok, I think she had a moment there.................give her credit; she's got a face for radio..........................

Dodgers won again, win 9th in row, .708 Winning Percentage...

HO HUM, what else is new?

Carlos

I just saw the Austin Jackson catch against the Sox. How is that not a HR? The ball didn't stay in the field of play, nor did the player. If, in another situation, the ball had hit the top of the wall and bounced over, that would be a HR. Thus, how is the ball in the Jackson play not a HR. If the rules aren't clear, they should be fixed.
