2017 Baseball Season: Let's Play Two! (2 Viewers)

For a team that had so many ups and downs, just being where the O's are now is impressive. I know, winning is what matters but it is nice to see your team stay in it for so long and truly fight to the end.
Jason, ups and down is right. The O's were consistent in 2 things all season, consistently bad starting pitching (except Bundy, who performed well all year) and consistently bad as a road team all year. This combination killed them. Have to give all the credit for them staying in the race to Buck as he juggled the problems brilliantly, keeping the O's competitive to the end. A team just can't overcome bad starting pitching in the long run and this will have to be the #1 priority over the off-season if the O's expect to compete next year. All in all, the O's went about as far as they could considering the problems. -- Al

I had a similar conversation with my son about the Angels and he had a completely opposite reaction, with which I agree, which can be boiled down to two words: "They suck!"

It's meaningless if they put up the good fight. The goal is to get there. They're just good enough to lose. No style points for being almost good.

When I was in my younger days I thought the same thing, if the O's didn't win the East or even finished in 2nd I was pissed!!! but a 14 year losing record and one of the worst teams in baseball can humble the best of us, things could be much worse for the young "Jazzeum"s baseball team. :)

Believe me I get it. Winning is everything. But losing without showing any effort or determination really hurts, especially to a dedicated fan. Trust me on that one, I have watched the Giants barely go through the motions these past 3 months.

There is no doubt in my mind the Twins will get that second wild card spot and then get steamrolled 12-0 by the MFY's, or better yet, sign Joe Nathan out of retirement so he can blow the game in the bottom of the 9th inning.

I think in my lifetime the Twins are 0-80 vs the MFY's in meaningful games................and watch the Indians win their last 40 games in row and then get swept in the ALDS.

I know the Mets aren't any good but tonight's 17-5 loss to the Cubs was downright embarrassing. To call them a Triple A team is insulting to the minor leagues.

Angels are beating up on the Astros but doesn't matter as Twins won in extra innings.

Brad:

I am with you. Lately I feel like the 2017 Giants are an embarrassment to the history of the organization.

Thankfully the Giants' and Mets' seasons will be over soon.

The LET'S GO O'S!! are getting shelled tonight, down 6-0 after one inning, Wade "he sucked so bad when he pitched for the Red Sox that I offered to drive him to the airport after them dumped him" Miley got lit up by the MFY's.

Buck is already writing his pre game speech for when the Red Sox come to town next week; I'm sure whatever three tomato cans he trots out vs us will pitch like Palmer, McNally and Cuellar.........................way to roll over for every team in the AL except for the Red Sox...................

No doubt, Miley sucks. O's needed a big game out of him and he lasted all of 1/3 of an inning before Buck had to pull him. He gave up 6 hits (including a 3-run dinger) and 6 runs in 1/3 of an inning! O's in a deep hole from the get-go. I must have typed that 50 time this year.:mad: -- Al

Jason, both teams had high hopes for the season and they crashed and burned. I'm used to losing years but because there were high expectations, that makes this season one of the more disappointing ones in recent memory. It could be the beginning of a very poor period. Hopefully not (depending on what they do in the offseason) but you never know.

Judge finds his swing against the formidable O's pitching staff. He has 2 3-run Hrs tonight and NY has 4 Hrs total, so far, and it's only the 6th inning with the score 13-2. I think the Fat Lady has the chorus ready to sing. :rolleyes2: -- Al

JB did it again. Jay Bruce drove in the winning run in the 10th inning to extend the Indians (or the Windians as some are calling them) streak to 22.

The way the LET'S GO O'S!! are trending, Sammy is going to ask the pilot on his flight to Chicago if he can get out of the plane while it's flying over the hotel...............without a parachute.......................:wink2:

George, the way the O's are trending, they will be DOA long before Sammy boards that plane to Chicago, so he should be ok to fly by then.:wink2: -- Al

To make the point, the Twins won tonight leaving the O's 6 back in the loss column and they only have 15 games left to play. Looks like it's between the Angels and Mariners
to try and catch the Twins at this point. -- Al

Even that is looking dubious; Angels are losing and if they fall 3 GB it's going to be difficult to overcome that deficit.

Yes, it is looking like the Twins have managed to get the last spot. Angels or Mariners might yet catch them but it won't be easy. I think everyone else is done. -- Al

I watched the end of the Twins game. Buxton launched one that may still be going. It reminded me of some of the moon shots Strawberry used to hit.

Thought the Nats would take a run at HFA by throwing our best at the Dodgers but evidently it is not a priority. The Nats are starting their #5 SP tonight (Gopher Ball Jackson), their #6 SP tomorrow, and only on Sunday do the Dodgers face one of our aces, Strasburg. Kind of disappointed as I had hoped Dusty would make a run at them. Who knows, maybe it will work out, but it looks like our best shot to win a game in this series will be behind Strasburg, and even then we have to hope the offense starts clicking as it's been sort of quiet the last 5 games. -- Al
