2017 Baseball Season: Let's Play Two! (2 Viewers)

Yeah, and guess who starts for the O's...wait for it...uBADo! A 10 game road trip where the O's needed 6 or 7 wins, ends tomorrow with the O's having gone 1-8. What a disaster. Anyway, Buck did a heck of a job keeping this team competitive as long as he did, considering he had 1 effective SP most of the year. -- Al

Don't worry, game 7 of the WS is Monday night in Baltimore, followed by two more game 7's; just ask Buck........................

Another asss whipp'n from the MFY as George puts it against my O's, JUST.LET.IT END. I can take losing series and such, but when you get your nuts handed to you night in and night out man it gets real old real quick, at least there is ONLY 1 game left in N.Y. this year.

With one game still to play vs the LET'S GO O'S!!, the MFY's thus far this season have scored 147 runs vs them, that's the most by any team vs any opponent since 1961, works out roughly to 8.6 runs per game, talk about embarassing.

Good job Showalters......................

For all the NYY fans on the forum (look away, George) an interesting fact from ESPN: With today's win the NYY have clinched their 25th straight winning season, having last had a losing record in 1992. It is the second longest such streak in MLB history. The longest streak belongs to...the NYY's! They had winning records from 1926 to 1964. Enjoy. -- Al

Where's the "dislike" button when you need it! :rolleyes2: Sorry Al, it just needed to be said.^&grin

Go figure, uBADo looks like Cy Young for 5 innings and the pen manages not to blow it. Now, if only uBADo had done this 12 or 15 other times this year... :rolleyes2: -- Al

Thought the Nats would take a run at HFA by throwing our best at the Dodgers but evidently it is not a priority. The Nats are starting their #5 SP tonight (Gopher Ball Jackson), their #6 SP tomorrow, and only on Sunday do the Dodgers face one of our aces, Strasburg. Kind of disappointed as I had hoped Dusty would make a run at them. Who knows, maybe it will work out, but it looks like our best shot to win a game in this series will be behind Strasburg, and even then we have to hope the offense starts clicking as it's been sort of quiet the last 5 games. -- Al
Series went like I thought it would. Nats dropped the first 2 games behind Gopher Ball Jackson and #6 SP Cole, but won the 3rd game behind Strasburg. The offense didn't show up until half-way through the last game but it's better than nothing. Nats were outscored 11-9 in the series, with LA scoring 7 runs in game 1 and the Nats scoring 7 runs in game 3. Next up is the last road trip of the season, visiting Atlanta, NY, and Philly before the last 4 of the season at home against the Pirates. Outside shot at 100 wins. -- Al

Nats really need to get Harper back. While only one component to the Nats offense, he is the catalyst, the major piece. Harper went on the DL August 12. Before that the Nats were scoring runs at a 5.4 runs per game clip. Without him that rate has fallen to 4.1 RPG. Nats are winning, being 22-14 in the 36 games Harper has missed, but the offense just isn't the same. Got to get him back and have him game ready for the playoffs. -- Al

Yankees are playing the Twins and the Angels are playing the Indians the first part of this week so the respective series appear to be a wash. However, this weekend the Twins play the Tigers and the Angels are at the Astros. Overcoming the Twins' 2 game lead will be difficult.

Brutal loss for the O's last night. Had a 5-0 lead with their best pitcher going, but Bundy fell apart in the 5th and the game ended up being a back and forth contest that the Sox won in OT. Kind of the way things have gone for the O's since their 7 game win streak. They have gone 5-13 since that streak and 2-10 in their last 12. Last night is just the punctuation mark on the season. -- Al

George was right as could be, the O's are playing every game against the Sox like a 7th game of the WS!! :) extra innings last night and going into the 11th inning with no score tonight.

Oh well, good effort O's.
The offense disappeared again. Too bad, as Gausman was fantastic and got nothing out of it. This isn't the way I thought the O's would finish the season. They have now gone 2-11 in the last 13 games. Just collapsed. -- Al

The Angels can't complain the Yankees didn't help them in a major way. Now, it's up to them by at least winning at least one. If I know them, the Angels will probably get swept.

Lucky me.....I was thinking on challenging George to a few frosty's in Chicago on the outcome of the O's/Sox series this week, but clearer heads prevailed and just like I thought the Orioles haven't recovered from that home series loss to the evil Yanks a few weeks ago, and a Sox sweep in Baltimore now, as much as this team has scrapped and fought back from the dead time after time it's hard seeing them lose so many games to close out the season, not many games left O's, please try and finish at 500.

It has been ugly for the O's ever since that NY series and especially since the O's collapsed on that disaster of a road trip. Tonight's loss leaves them at 73-80. It is going to be a miracle if the O's finish at .500. They are gong to have a fight to stay out of the cellar the way things are going right now. This collapse is very unlike the O's under Buck. They usually have finished strong under him. It's that cursed starting pitching. -- Al

I hear ya Al, but not only did the starting pitching basically suck all season but then there were those stretches were the O's could only score 1-2 runs for 4-5 games at a time!!! then once Britton went down we had no real closer, so as I look back upon this season I certainly see a lot of fight in the 2017 O's but a ton of weakness to go along with it, with free agents a plenty coming up for the Orioles and some big dollar contracts i'm afraid where this team might be heading unless some serious wheeling and dealing take place this winter.

When I said anything less than a sweep would shock me, I didn't mean it would be the Red Sox sweeping the Showalters, but that's exactly what happened.

Wow, I'm stunned.

Oh and thanks to the Twins for absolutely nothing, a lot of help you were.......................

It does seem that no one wants to win that last WC spot. Not a single one of the teams in the hunt has a .500 record over the last 10 games of this chase. As a matter of interest, only the Twins and Angels are at .500 on the season. I sure hope the winner of this derby can at least boast a .500 or better record. A sub-.500 winner would leave a bad taste. -- Al
