2017 Baseball Season: Let's Play Two! (1 Viewer)

“It's like watching the Germans steamroll through Poland in 1939.”

Again and again, their version of Groundhog Day.

Fortunately, the Russians aka Cleveland are on the march.

Congrats, Louis. On to Cleveland. -- Al

Thanks Al. Winning and getting to the ALDS made an already great season even further exceed my expectations. It’s a shame the Yankees can’t forget about their starters and just have the bullpen pitch the entire game. 1run on 5 hits over 8-2/3 innings, walking just 2 and striking out about 15. And, with the exception of Severino, who completely choked, the Baby Bombers played great, led by Didi, Judge and Sanchez. The future looks really bright!

The NL WC game is a real corker. Every time Arizona looks like they are walking away with it, Colorado comes right back. 8-7 Arizona in the 8th, good game. -- Al

Louis:

I am really looking forward to the Cleveland/New York series. I think the Yankees are going to do better than expected.

Or not.

At least for game one.

Now they get the Cleveland ace in game two.

As far as the Red Sox, Sale got lit up, now they are in must win territory today.

Oh well, Patriots won last night, Bruins won last night, the beat in Boston goes on......................

They don’t have a realistic chance to defeat the Indians and I think the Yankees and their fans realize it’s a tall order. If the Indians win today — and they probably will — it’s likely to be a sweep. The Red Sox have a similar difficult road to travel.

The fascinating series will be Cleveland Houston, a tough one to call.

I believe the Dodgers will prevail in their series but the Cubs Nationals series is hard to predict. I believe the Cubs had the best record in the NL in the second half.

Heck better than expected might be 1 win!

Great scene at the Bruins game last night when rookie Jake DeBrusk scored a goal and the camera panned to his dad who had a few tears in his eyes.

Girardi outsmarted himself. Why did he remove CC, who was cruising? NY in a big hole now. -- Al

Looks like the teams people root for here are in serious trouble, except for Carlos. That game just started.

Nats choked Game #1. The problem, as it has been for quite a while now, was no offense. Nats only had 2 hits in the 3-0 loss. The Nats offense went off-line when Harper was hurt and has never gotten it's mojo back. Averaged less than 4 runs per game since Harper went down. Better fix it or it will be another disappointment in the post-season. -- Al

Al:

For what ever reason the Nats did not seem to be playing with any sort of tenacity or urgency last night.

Hopefully they get it turned around later today.

Jason, the lack of fire has also been another concern of mine. The team has been laid back since clenching so early and I feared it might carry over. It's up to Dusty to wake them up. Even he can't make the bats work though, and the lack of hitting has been a problem for almost 2 months now. Since Harper got hurt on 8/12, the Nats went 27-21 to close the season, averaging about 4 runs per game. Harper simply hasn't had enough at bats since coming off the DL to get his timing/swing back yet. It's unfortunate timing but that's where things stand and it's up to the players to do their jobs. Strasburg did his but got no help. Hope they help Gonzalez today, or the Nats post-season problems will continue to be their legacy. -- Al

Trying to think of what result would be worse; getting smoked 8-2 or losing 9-8 in extra innings after absolutely blowing an 8-3 lead.

So much for that vaunted MFY bullpen.

So you run Kluber, Sherman Klump gives you a quality start, you're up 8-3 with the game in the hands of a lights out bullpen and you still lose.

Oh well; Tribe/AAAstros will be a great, great series.

Oh and I see Washington is up to their usual buffoonery; if they blow this series, I'd retire as a fan of that team, they just can't wash the Expos taint off of them.

It’s worse to lose the way the Yankees did. When you’re blown out 8-2 you were never in the game but to blow a five run lead (which was contributed to by Girardi’s gaffes) is deflating.

The Nationals are definitely in the hole as the Cubs are experienced and now have the home field advantage.

If Dusty is planning on winning any of these games against the Cubs, he needs his team to get more than 2 hits in a game. They got 2 hits in Game 1 and they have 2 hits through 7 innings today. An impressive offensive display. Of course, if the plan is to get swept, the Nats are on target. :rolleyes2: -- Al

I feel much better now than I did 2 innings ago.:wink2: Glad to see them finally awake and especially glad to see Harper get a hold of one. It was his first Hr since being injured August 12. At least we now have a chance after looking DOA for 16 innings. -- Al

I've watched zero MLB games this season but as a front running Dodgers fan I tuned in for a few seconds last night after a lengthy search to locate the channel. The games are on TBS? I've only seen Happy Days reruns on that channel. Puig is batting in the 8 slot for LA? They must have the greatest line up since the '27 Yankees to do that. I didn't see Larry King though. And the Astros are in the American League? The last time I watched them JR Richards and Nolan Ryan were wearing those horrible rainbow-type uniforms and they were in the NL West.
