Yep. Impressive. Don't know what has happened to Bundy. Gave up 2 more Hr's tonight to give him the O's record of most Hr's yielded in a season, 37. Bundy had only given up 42 Hr's in 62 career games prior to this season, now he has given up 37 in 27 starts and 150 innings this year alone. It's a puzzle. Hard to win giving up a Hr for every 4 IP.My O's hit the loss triple digits tonight..41-100....after a nail biter 14-2 loss to the Rays.
Yeah, Nats are on the down elevator as well. They are 8 out in the East and 9 out of the WC. Not yet eliminated by the numbers, but DOA realistically. Nats are the biggest bust in MLB this season and have lots of work to do this off-season. The manager, Martinez, got the kiss of death the other day when the GM, Rizzo, said the team has no plans to change managers.:rolleyes2: Believe that and I have a waterfront condo in Atlantis I would like to sell you.:wink2: -- AlIt isn't much better for the West Coast team in orange and black.
The Giants have lost 6 games in a row putting them 10 games out of the division and 10.5 out of the Wild-Card. The numbers say they have not been eliminated yet but logic says otherwise.
Mad Max won his 17th game tonight, a 10-3 CG job over the Cubs. He fanned 11 men, giving him 271 K's on the season in just 202.2 innings. It was the 16th time in 30 starts this year that he has fanned 10 or more men in a game. -- Al
With a team ERA of 5.22, the O's don't have a single pitcher on the active roster, starting or relief, with an ERA under 4. The SP with the lowest ERA, Cashner, is sitting at 4.89. Good lord.{sm2} -- Al
The Giants fought hard all season and hung around until just recently. You can only give so much. -- AlAl:
I am not trying to "one-up you" but the Giants are doing their best Orioles imitation as they have now lost 8 in a row and are 1-9 in their last 10 games.

Oakland just keeps on pressing the Astros...
they keep winning and winning...
honestly...
they scare me as much as Boston and the Yankees...
they got off to a slow start the first half of the season...
I have got to watch them quite a few times this year...
and they are really better than their record indicates...
they win a lot of close games cause their bull pen is so good...
if they get the lead in the 6th or 7th...
their bull pen can shut you out...
what is the playoff format?
I'm guessing the 2 wild cards play each other...either one game or a series...
then who plays who?
Wild-Card winner plays the team with the best record (Boston) and the other two division winners play each other.
thank you Jason...
that's concise and easy to understand...you have a wealth of baseball knowledge...obviously a fan for years...^&grin
how many games is the wild card playoff?
also...is the second round 5-7 games?
I have to give the Nats credit, even though they remain consistently inconsistent, they have not quit on the season. Yesterday they completed a doubleheader sweep of the Phillies with a 3-run 9th to tie the game and send it to the 10th, where they won it on a Soto Hr. That gives them 4 wins in a row, a modest achievement to be sure, but their first 4-game winning streak since May (the only winning month the Nats have had). There are now 17 games left for them to try and catch the Phillies, whom they trail by 1.5 games, for 2nd place in the NL East, and to try to finish above .500. True, these are meaningless goals at this point, considering what was expected, but the Nats will take what they can get to try to save a little face after this mess of a campaign. -- Al
Mike:
Happy to help and thanks for the compliment! As you know there are many knowledgeable fans on this thread (Al, Brad, George etc.), I tend to think that most of us on here know so much because we have watched too much baseball, LOL.
The wild card is a one game playoff and the division series is 5 games. The league championship is 7 games along with the World Series.
I am thinking it will be Boston and Houston in the ALCS and who knows in the NLCS.

Mike, the current WC teams are Oakland and the NYY's. If things stay as they are, the NYY's and Oakland will face off in the 1-game WC playoff, with the winner advancing, loser goes home. -- AlJason...thanks again...you're too kind...
and yes Al has helped me sort through a few questions also...ty Al...
I actually found the 2018 format on a website last night...
if I understand it...
just saying...
if all the currents winners advanced and the better record teams kept winning...
in the Wild Card it would be Oakland vs Cleveland (1 game)...with Oakland wining...
then it would be Oakland vs Boston (5 game)...
and Houston vs NYY (5 game)...
then the winner of those for the ALCS (7 game)...
is that right?
