Jason, I'm a traditionalist so I don't like or 'get' the whole 'no starting pitcher' trend. I haven't followed Oakland, but looking at Oakland's starting staff, it is not a strong one in the traditional sense, with what looks like up to 13 pitchers used as starters at one time or another, many with minimal innings indicating that the A's have used the 'no starter' strategy quite a bit. I don't like it but it appears to be what Melvin has been using and succeeding with (97 wins), so I guess it's basically a situation of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. -- Al
