2018 Baseball season (7 Viewers)

Rusty Staub, a wonderful player and Met great passed away today at 73. He was also a wonderful player for the Expos (Le Grande Orange), the Astros and Tigers. After his career was over he broadcast for the Mets and had a terrific restaurant in New York City, Rusty Staub's.

RIP Rusty.

Mets got off to a good start. However, since they are 37-20 on opening day, it’s all the games after that are the problems.

Bundy pitched awesome game for the O's!!! A.Jones had to take care if business in the 11th, one down 161 to go.

Great win, and Jones is a treasure. O's had me on the verge of an Opening Day meltdown with the blown save with 2 out in the 9th. I hope this isn't a harbinger of closing problems with Britton on the DL. -- Al

Giants will have to be careful with Bums out. They can't afford to lose too much ground with that many games against the Dodgers. Splitting the 10 will do them nicely. -- Al
Blach got the Giants off and running, outdueling Kershaw 1-0. Great start. -- Al

The Yankees lineup was as advertised today. 3 homers and 4 doubles for the top of the lineup in a 6-1 win over Hap, a pitcher that usually has the Yankees’ number.

Great win for the Giants. If you are going to beat Kershaw you are going to have to protect a 1 run lead and that is exactly what SF did.

Evidently, Stanton likes the spotlight in NY as 2 Hrs and 4 RBIs isn't too shabby for the first game. -- Al

We Phillies fans got an idea of how our Strat-O-Matic GM and manager will work this season. Aaron Nola was cruising into the 5th with a 5-0 shut-out, and Gabe Kapler lifts him for a reliever, Hoby Milner. The bullpen takes over; the front office has expressed their opinion that the bullpen is one of the team's strengths, coming into this season. But the relievers continued the pattern they showed in spring training: Give up bases on balls, and blow a big lead. Kapler learned and demonstrated this management style with the Dodgers. Gabe Kaplan would have done better.

Not an auspicious start to the season, but we'll see how the Phils bounce back today. The bats were there.

Prost!

My Bravos with the Markakis walk-off. Don't call it a comeback! #Chop_On

How about two 1-0 wins in a row over the Trolley Dodgers? Panik is the new 'Sultan of Swat', at least for March. 2 great wins. -- Al

SF has won 2 of 3 so far. I'll take that considering most pundits had them getting swept by the Dodgers. If they win today they will win the opening series.

O's have scored 5 runs on 11 total hits in 3 games. They should go back to Florida and pick up the bats they left behind.:rolleyes2: -- Al

On the other hand, the Nats look really good!

So far, so good. Lead Cinnci 3-1 in the 6th. Nats starters have yielded 2 earned runs in the 3 games so far, ( 18.1 innings, combined). I'll take it for what it's worth this early. Nats leadoff hitter, Adam Eaton, is coming off season ending injury in 2017 and is doing really well. So far in the 3 games, he is 8 for 12, with 2 Hr's, 5 RBI's and 7 runs scored. He was a catalyst in April last season before the injury, and he is proving so again.:wink2: -- Al
