2020-2021 Hot Stove League (1 Viewer)

I am a baseball fan first, and a Giants fan (who despises the Dodgers) second.....

With that being said Scherzer pitched a gem last night, he deserved to win.

The Giants were the better team last night; they earned the win. The Giants are just a shade better than the Dodgers, oth in the regular season and last night. I don’t expect that to change.

I’m hoping for a repeat of the 1912 World Series.

If that happens, I'd be happy no matter the outcome, my two favorite teams fighting it out for the title.

Naturally, the RS winning would be my preference, but I would not be crushed if they lose.

After roaring out to a 5-0 lead, the Rays tied it in the 8th, RS won it on a walk off fly ball in the bottom of the 9th.......................6-5 Red Sox.

The 92 win Red Sox, who qualified for the top WC spot the last game of the season, beat the Yankees in the WC game, then took down the 100 win/everyones pick to win the WS Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Baseball is a funny game.

And the RS have been raking all playoffs long.

It's on to the ALCS.
Red Sox beginning to smell like the 2019 Nats. -- Al

Same here. Torn loyalties as the DC Dodgers are my former favorite players, Scherzer, Turner, and Treinen, but I've been a Giants fan since the early 60's (and an anti-Dodger for just as long) so I wasn't sad to see SF win last night, just sorry it was Scherzer who had to lose. -- Al

The Giants have been the better team. The Dodgers could still pull this out with any luck but it's not feeling like things are breaking their way. HR balls getting blown into long fly outs in a 1-0 loss. Whatever talent advantage LA had went out the window with injuries and suspensions. Kershaw, Bauer, and Muncy. They have enough talent not playing in this series to field another playoff team. But it's not over until it's over. If the Dodgers can get a win at home, anything can happen in a deciding game.

Is Muncy done for this series/NLCS/WS if they get there?

That was a nasty injury, dislocated elbow.

That happened to me in high school as I was a first baseman; only difference was the runner went down like bag of cement.

Me/my arm was fine.

I thought 100% that last batted ball was gone off the bat, it sure sounded/looked like it, it just died at the warning track.

Well, everyone is set except the one series I have any interest in. SF/LA the dogfight all expected. All hands on deck Thursday night...stay tuned... -- Al

He's done for this series. They are holding out hope that he is back if they advance. Maybe a Kirk Gibson moment.

I saw a Yankees fan whining on a MLB forum I belong to about how teams like the Red Sox and the Braves, both of whom are in their league championship series, are inferior and don't belong in the series and he likes the way things used to be, one overall champion from each league with no playoff and that team goes on to play the winner from the other league.

Honest to Christ.

Prior to the draft being instituted in 1965, amateurs were free to sign with any Major League team that offered them a contract.

Shockingly, wealthier teams such as the Yankees and the Cardinals were able to stockpile young talent, while poorer clubs were left to sign the rest of the talent after those two teams poached them away, much like the NHL back in medieval times when the Montreal Canadiens signed all the Canadian talent, imagine them winning all those Stanley Cups, what are the odds?

What two teams have the most World Series wins; Yankees and Cardinals.

The game is better today with more teams getting a shot to win it all.

If the Yankees with their bloated payroll can't get to the LCS, that's not the Red Sox or the Braves fault.

Don't worry, they'll back up a brinks truck this winter and sign as many free agents as possible.

The Dodgers are starting a relief pitcher tonight. Trying to get a couple of innings out of him before turning the ball over to Urias. I'm not sure I'm a big fan of that strategy - unless it works! I can see this game being decided early with whoever gets up a couple of runs and then its empty the bullpen time to hold the lead. Game ends around 2AM and I read about it tomorrow.

So whatta ya expect from Yankee fans! They even had to go so far as to name their team after their New England compatriots as apparently they couldn't find anyone from their own neighborhood to name the team after. For those uninformed, historically and traditionally Yankees are New Englanders, not New Yorkers!

I will admit that I was late to jump on the Giants' bandwagon this year, even as a lifelong fan.

When I started to watch them I was sure that their Achilles heal come playoff time was going to be pitching since they led the regular season in so many offensive categories.

Then in the playoffs they scored 10 runs in 5 games.

Baseball is a funny and cruel game.....................

A razor thin margin between the Dodgers and Giants. Webb was the MVP of this series. Every time I saw him last night, I thought how much he looked like that guy on the Fargo TV show. It's a miracle LA pulled this out considering that Muncy was out and the two Turners were awful. Max looked shaky last night. Very lucky that he got out of that inning. The LA-Atlanta series is the classic trap situation. LA is banged up and coming off a tough, overhyped matchup. The commentators will be anticipating a revenge WS matchup between the Dodgers and whichever of two AL team that cheated them out of a WS. Reminds me a lot of the Nats series from a couple years ago. The Braves may get overlooked and win this.

Congrats to the Dodgers, but I'm a SF fan so I can't be happy, except for Mad Max, Trea, and Blake. Guess I'll have to pull for the DC Dodgers even though it goes against the grain. Anyway, good luck to the forum fans of the Dodgers, Braves, Astros, and Red Sox, as I know there are several on here and are all fine gentlemen and I certainly wish them all success for their teams. -- Al

If that check swing to end the game and series is actually a strike, then I give up.

If I was a gambling man, that outcome last night was a classic bag job.

When the umpires are the story, you've got a problem.

As in a big one.

Absolutely pathetic, but naturally, like NFL, NBA and NHL officials, they skate and are never, ever accountable.

They should be graded at the end of every year and whoever finishes below a certain percentage of calls being right should be fired and replaced.

But that will never happen, so nonsensical bullshit like what I witnessed last night from that ****ing bozo behind home plate continues to be accepted.

Frankly it ruins the sport.

What a ****ing farce.

The Dodgers finished almost 20 games ahead of the Braves this year but Atlanta has the home field advantage. There are some bad signs for LA heading into this series. It reminds me a lot of the series they lost a couple years ago to the Nats. On paper LA should steamroll Atlanta but I think this goes either way. LA-Houston is the media dream matchup.

Very true, I can just see the headlines now "Serial cheaters vs the billionaires."

Baseball fever; catch it!!

The only mystery about the NLCS is how are the Braves going to blow it this time? My God, classic chokers, all those loaded teams back in the 1990's and won a whopping one WS title, this current version can't get out of their own way, an 88 win team that wins a division, wow, what a powerhouse.

If that's the match up, for the second year in a row, I won't watch a single pitch.

Just like last years "Super" Bowl, did not watch one second of it.

Just like this years SCF, did not watch one second of it.

Just like this years NBA Finals, did not watch one second of it.

The older I get, the less I care unless my team is involved and even then it's "M'eh", sort of like last night, we went out to a local joint and watched a cover band butcher The Cars songs all night long...................and I had a better time vs watching that midget Altuve and that cocky assclown Correa beat the Red Sox with home runs.

Good for you Astros, your pitching staff blows.

The Dodgers are the best team in baseball and I’d be surprised if they don’t win it all. I was frankly surprised they didn’t win the division. The Giants over performed this year and I don’t expect them to do it again; I did enjoy watching Logan Webb pitch. Hopefully, he has now established himself.

I have no idea who will win the AL but regardless of the matchup I will watch the WS. If it’s LA, I enjoy watching players like Max Muncy (hopefully he’s back), Corey Seager and some of the bullpen aces they have. It’s a fun team to watch. If it’s Atlanta, I like Freddie Freeman (even though he kills the Mets) and players like Austin Riley and Danby Swanson. If it’s Boston, great to watch Yankee fans vent and if it’s the Astros, they have a bunch of great players that I don’t normally watch during the season.

No lose for me.

PS: Robles struck again last night. Mets and Angel fans know his gopher balls well.
