Gents,
Tomorrow 21st of July is Belgian Independence day ( our 4th of July ) The day we also remember fallen soldiers doing their duty from 1830 up to the present day. (Today we stll have soldiers in Afganistan, Lebanon, and the Balkan) To honour the spirit of this forum, I give you a few pics of two TS I painted belonging to the Belgian Brigade Piron, which fought next to the Brits during the Normandy campaign.
They were organized in 3 independent company sized motorised units. The British tasked the Brigade ( 2200 men and 500 vehicles)with the persuit of enemy elements along the Normandy coast. On August the 9th they relieved the 5th British Special Service Brigade( Commando). In front of them the 272nd,711th,346th German Infantry Divisions together with elements of the elite 12th SS Panzer Div.The Brigade liberated the French coastal villages of Cabourg,Houlgate,Villers-sur-Mer,Deauville, Trouville, Honfleur,Pont Audemer,Caudebec, Bolbec and Harfleur. They were then ordered away from Normandy to be the first to enter the city of Brussels, the Belgian capital.
