30mm napoleonics (4 Viewers)

Ray it's been such a treat and pleasure seeing the selection of your outstanding photographs of your collection of flats. Thanks for sharing them with us.............The Lt.

Thank you LT.
I follow your Zulu Thread and posts as well, the diversity of subjects and medium in our hobby is fabulous on the Treefrogger site. I'll keep posting, you keep posting and it will be great for all involved.
Ray

PJ,
Thanks for your constant support, I hope I can return the favor someday.
We earlier in the thread were talking about flat artist, I found a site on an italian artists site that talks about many of the better know artists out there. Mostly in Italian however there is a synopsis of each artist in english.
If you haven't already seen it it's worth a look, here's the link:

How about some Melee shots!
Ray

Hi Ray,

That's for the great cavalry shots. I think flats cavalry figures are unbeatable because of the sense of movement they can convey.

Thanks for the link. I was not aware of this site and will spend some time on it this weekend. Have a great New Year!

Your more than welcome PJ.
I should also note that I mistaken said the figure were from Austerlitz, they are of the Borodino timeframe.
Ray

Hi Ray,

I don't do that many Napoleonics, but here's a flat I just finished based on Lady Butler's famous painting. Ths figure is a BFFS commisioned piece from 1992.

Very Nice PJ! Great paint job, I hope after the holiday rush I'll have some time to paint also.

Got a paper napoleonic Berg, finally got it mostly together and decided to take some photo's. I experimented with a "soft effect" and an "antique effect" also.
This is Napoleon on the road, his entourage unexpectedly pulls into one of the many townships he passes through on the way to his next campaign.
The suprise visit stirs the mayor to an inproptue introduction of his wife and the only local officials available and a welcome to the Emperor and his marshals.

That is a beautiful scene, looking really good.
I don't understand your first sentence. What is a paper napoleonic berg?
Are these paper figures, like cutouts?
Whatever it is it looks good.
Konrad

some additional photos. Of course every boy loves a soldier in uniform!

Hi Konrad,
Thank you, The Buildings are the paper ones, the figures are 30mm metal.

Great photos, Ray. I love the buildings. Great atmosphere without taking up a lot of space.

Are the buildings commercially made, or did you press something else into service here? I'm always interested in great scenery.

Hi PJ,
Got them from Berlinner Zinnfiguren shop, pretty inexpensive but the shipping from these guys kills! They have this version in color or you can buy a plain black and white version. They also have some walls etc. that I haven't investigated. As I finish the other buildings I'll take more pics.
P.S. I'm loking for a large cobblestone mat for display purposes, say 24"x24" in 1/72 or something near. If you get any leads I'd appreciate the help.

Try model railroad shops they will probably have something....like this....http://pufferwillies.co.uk/uk2ecomm...obblestone_1000_x_80mm_with_adhesive_backing/

Thanks, Ray. I'll have a look at BZf. I LOVE those buldings!!

I agree with thebritfarmer - check out model RR shops for accessories. I'm sure I have seen some paper cobblestone street layouts around my local store. If you want textured cobblestones (not paper), I think you will find them there as well. If you are not sucessful, let me know and I will do a little digging.

Ray, more great looking figures  The paper buildings look the part. :)

Nice looking figures and buildings Ray. Your flat collection is growing and I imagine painting flats is not easy. I read about flat figures and I saw some nicely painted flats at shows.

I see Michigan Toy Soldier list 30mm painted flat sets but I did not notice any Napoleonics. I don't know how well they are painted. The company called Two Trees sells them on Michtoy site. J

PJ,
Tahanks as always for your kind words, the cobble stone i need would be a large area for the square in the town center.

Leadmen, thanks for the compliment, wish i could paint to this quality.... not yet. I actually have several of the two tree sets, very nice, they do have napoleonic, though i think the quality veries, I have returned a couple of sets as unsatisfactory, but when there right, there right!
Really wish I had axcess to shows, I didn't see any at the westcoaster last year. I think flats are basically a Eurocentric hobby and I'm in the deserts of New Mexico!:(:(:(
