Hi all,

back to some 3d printing. Paul Bell has a huge catalogue of wonderful things from planes to buildings to ships which can all be 3d printed. I always wanted to do a Tripoli diorama with DAK unloading from a transport and thanks to Paul I am now able to do so. It still needs assembling and painting and a dock diorama from David Marshall but you get the idea.

3d printing is not perfect yet. You can see some anomalies in the closeups but nothing that cant be sanded and plastered then painted over. And the price is now good. Pauls email is; bellarus6666@gmail.com (he is not far from North London)
and his catalogue of stuff he can 3d print is here;

Enjoy!

Looks Brilliant already Stefan and no doubt will do even more so when painted and hope you will share photos when that's done :salute:::salute:::salute::

Wow! That transport is massive! Can't wait to see everything painted.

I'm a fan of 3D printing as most of the island on my Akagi aircraft carrier dio was 3D printed. 3D printing does require a lot of finish work and coats of primer/paint to cover the striations caused by the printing process, but the finished product is amazing.

Keep up the good work and please keep us updated as you move along on this project.

Mark

This is fantastic! So cool. Thanks for the link to the catalogue.

Hey Stefan, that's a huge model, my eldest son is into printing and painting fantasy figures including armoured vehicles. He doesn't need a large printer but looks like you would, could you post some photos and details of your actual printer, it must be almost industrial size.

Hi. I did the printing for Stefan using a range of different printers. The largest pieces though were printed on my Creality CR-10 Max printers which have a print bed size of 45cm x 45cm. If you Google it you’ll find plenty of images. Hope that helps??

Thank you Paul, I did wonder if a range of printer sizes was required considering the different sized objects.

I got a model off the Hartenstein Hotell produced by Laul and its stunning!

Highly recommend!

In the process of ordering a 1/30th St Elizabeth's Hospital for Arnhem Diorama. Paul's work is amazing!!

That's great, glad people like Paul's work; as I indicated awhile ago, I am his US agent, his catalog is up on my website, several customers have ordered items from him through me including a Hartenstein Hotel, two Brandenburg Gates, an AWI farmhouse, the Stalingrad Train station, the Stalingrad department store, all in 60mm, plus a number of smaller scale items.

Hi Stefan,
Congrats and thank you for the photos! This is definitely the way forward because of multiple reasons. I've bought direct from Paul, and he is a great pleasure to work with. I think I will order some bulge buildings next. I have to look back through all of the links to his models that he sent me.
What you got is amazing!

Joe

Thats really cool. Imagine the price if a major producer made it

Simply not feasible to produce commercially...Besides how much would such a large model cost to ship overseas???
Finally, just how many collectors actually have the space to accommodate a model of this size?
Impressive though it no doubt is.
Andy.

Alas yes as Andy says how many of us have space to display such gigantic items, though I'm love seeing the photos of those who do and when Andy shows the massive dioramas people have commissioned from him or even built for displays and David at TM and of course Jacob who build diorama base as commercial enterprises.

Myself I'd love to have a Roman Grain Ship or a Chinook Helicopter but even if I had the cash I'd not have display or even storage space, but I do have the K&C LOJ fishing boat and the TCS Huey !

In the meantime I too also do have some 3D prints on order from Paul, smaller building facades and other bits and bobs.

Pirate ship comes to mind. ^&grin

YUUP! I would gladly investigate a Pirate Ship this way. Paul, if I could ask - any idea on pricing range for a painted pirate ship? Currently, the best one I have is the original Barzso Treasure Island Ship.

THanks!
Tom

Great points Andy, totally agree, these are one off or short runs made to order, with many collectors space to display is the biggest enemy, i have 16 TGM planes, my whole K & C WW2 Desert and Medieval Warriors in storage as no room, my current room is 16ft X 15ft. Completely unfeasible for all the reasons Andy has outlined, I have contacted about the RAF tower and to ask about bunkers, as the ones on the site [except a couple] were used on D Day. I want to know the dimensions for the RAF Tower.

Maybe Paul should have his own area of the forum in the other manufactures section?

His stuff is the best!
