69th Annual MFCA Show and Mart-live reports (1 Viewer)

More of George's displays.

WWI French:

and French and Indian War, figures by Mr. Jenkins, if I'm not mistaken:

And here, a display of US Dragoons and Indians:

George, I hope I've got the captioning right on those!

One more post to come...

And finally, this is my catch from the show. I was looking for 54mm castings or old and used figures, that I could strip and repaint--Stadden, Imrie-Risley, Rose, and so forth, 18th Century or Imperial German. Pickings were slim in those particular categories, as it turned out. But there's something for just about everyone, and since I'm also a scale modeler, I picked up some kits for my stash, for future builds.

Monogram's AT-6 Texan, in 1/48th:

I'd been after this kit for a while, because of the really great figure of the instructor that comes with it, he's climbing into the rear cockpit.

Monogram's Vought OS2U Kingfisher, a classic:

and to go with the Eduard P-39Q that I built last year, Hasegawa's version of this aircraft:

I also picked up this Hasegawa SBD-1:

They were priced to move, so I jumped on them.

And not to forget the general figure theme of our show, I picked up this excellent kit of Baron von Steuben:

This kit is sold through Der Bunte Rock, and I met the owner, Michael von Kolpinski, very nice fellow. To settle the terms of the purchase, I will buy him a beer....in Kulmbach. So, I'm going to Kulmbach next year! Believe it or not, I've never been to the show there. I'm psyched. I may make a longer trip of it and visit World Expo the week after that, in Montreux, Switzerland.

I also bought a book, from Bill Murphy of Hobby Bunker. "Clash of the Carriers" by Barrett Tillman, about the Battle of the Philipine Sea. A good show, all in all.

Regarding photos, I also have some links to share, courtesy of some of the members at PlanetFigure:

Many thanks to AJ (Al) LaFleche of the Wings & Wheels IPMS Club, and Ed, both members at PlanetFigure, for those links!

Next year, we'll coordinate and take a Treefrog Forum group photo, too!

So, prosit!
Brad

Hi Brad,

Thanks very much for your photographs and commentary.

This is an excellent "Battle of Trafalgar Boarding Party" diorama.

A British naval officer has just boarded a French man of war and a French officer has drawn his sword to engage....

Never seen one like this.........almost close quarter combat at sea.

Kind Regards, Raymond.:)

Excellent photos, Brad. How you got all your chores done, plus photos, plus buying things I'll never know.

I agree a Treefrog photo is definitely in order for next year. We can congregate before or after the Plant Figure photo for a start.

Mark,

To be honest, I am not familiar with their work.

Any chance of posting a link to their website ?

Many Thanks, Raymond.

Does anyone have the contact information for Joe, the gentleman who is the Metal Shed distributor? I have traded a friend the promise of a Metal Shed piece for a Heco Tinplate Model.:)

Hi, Raymond, Alan and Marion's site is:

http://www.mb-miniatures.com/

You'll enjoy browsing their work, I'm sure!

Hi Brad,

Thanks very much for the link to Alan and Marion's website.

I have had a first pass look at the "About Us" and "Gallery" sections and there are some very familiar figures.

They have lots of good stuff uploaded to the website, so I shall spend sometime browsing to find the gems.

Kind Regards, Raymond.
