A Day of Play (2 Viewers)

Today is going to be more of a day of work than a day of play, but I had this image in mind and went after it.

Now back to 'work'.

Very interesting photo Joe.
Nice colors, multi levels.
Can we get a better photo/larger file so the detail can be seen?
Nick:)

Nick...I didn't save a bigger file of that image, but I sort of redid it from the original shots.(It's a composite of two pictures). This is as big as thisone gets.

It's sure nice to hear you got your playground back Joe and sharing another outstanding photo diorama. Looking forward to your next play day......Joe

I decided to go back to my roots and get my Marx Civil War guys out. I wanted to see how road concept 2 would work.

It works out quite well and it's always nice to see you returning to your roots from time to time.

I like seeing the old Marx sets, reminds me of all the times my brothers and I played with our sets.

Joe,
Always great stuff , but this is just pure action! It's like you were Matt Brady with a quick expose color camera! I'll stop now and simply admire:cool:

Wanted to let you know Joe that I have really enjoyed your photos of your ACW sets. The Marx civil war figures take me back to my childhood where this all started for me. I used to play by the hours with the Marx Blue and the Gray. The pics of the Rebel Zouavs are just like Mike said - full of action. Huzzah!

Mike, I'm glad you appreciated the Marx shots. I still love the idea of plastics and the sweet nostalgia of the Marx figures and the daydreams of playsets that should have been and are now becoming possible, but I have become spoiled by the painted metal. When I make plastic set-ups, I get it all ready, look at it and then let out a long sigh. When I get the metal guys into action, get the camera set, look back again, there's more of a "Wowza!" reaction.

Speaing of "Wowza!" I am undone by your Hudson and Allen terrain system. That's the kind of stuff I want to be able to create when I grow up. When it comes to terrain and scenics, Ken is in a league of his own.

Another great day of play Joe and looking forward to the new Zouavs from Conte appearing in one of your playdays shortly after their arrival.

One of my peeves with the Toy Soldier Manufacuters is that no one does routed/retreating troops. Conte had some in his First at Manassas, but other than that, it's all advancing, firing lines and casualties or standing around. Here's some shots of the Conte retreating figures being pursued by the Collecotor's showcase Wheats Tigers.

Some more great "WOWZA" photos Joe. I would agree with you on your observation - not enough routed troops (or casualties for that matter). Wm Britain does have two sets of Union routed troops #17888 and #17897. I have them both and I use them alot.

I finally got around to doing some simple conversions on some Conte GIs. It's not the easiest plastic to work with, but the figures sure paint up nice.
