When I knocked up this little "watering the Reb steeds" scenario for my dio thread down in the forum's basement I used all the K&C Confederate figures I had except one......

This guy............ I just couldn't fit him into the scene so subsequently left him out. It then suddenly struck me that his aiming/firing pose just didn't fit with the rest of the K&C troopers who were all posed more in alert mode and if I constructed any other scenes with these guys I still wouldn't readily be able to use him. Having seen some of you guys inspirational repaints of AFV's to your preferred theatres of war and a few of you even altering standing figures to suit your particular requirements. Decision was made to convert said miscreant to closer align with the other figures in the series.

Both arms were removed and carbine cut away. New arms molded using both original elbow joints. Horses reins had to be cut & ground off the neck area with an alignment to a new molded right hand. New left hand molded to rest on his forward saddle roll. Rider's torso and horse repainted and left eye painted open

No doubt it's debateable whether one prefers the original pose or the new. But for me he now fits more appropriately with the rest of his fellow horse soldiers and I can make much more use of him

Superb work Bob, he looks excellent and goes very nicely indeed. Top work my friend. Please post more of your work in this part of the forum, your scenes are some of the very best on show.

Amazing transformation. {sm3} Lot's of skill (and nerve) needed there and it turned out really well.

best part of the hobby for me conversions and repaints. Very nice job

Extremly well made job, concratulations! Not only the great skill, but also the vision and creativity.

That's awesome Bob! I do not have the kinds of skills to convert figures like that so I have to sit back and admire from afar. Your scene now looks even more splendid.

Great work!

I see no cause for debate he now fits more appropritately with the rest of his fellow horse soldiers. Great job with the coversion making him fit in so nicely within the scene Bob aka UKReb...............Joe

That is one outstanding conversion. The figure certainly does 'fit in' with his fellows now. Well done, sir!

You made a wonderful transformation from the “shooter” to the “observer” in that figure. I admire your skill and bravery to do that, but the results speak for themselves.{sm4} really well done!

I have pondered the same question on conversion, even at a minor level like painting the base to more match a terrain and always deduced that not to enjoy the TS because someday you may need to “resell” is kinda’ foolish.

Haven't had the courage to do it yet.
But now ..... :rolleyes::rolleyes:

So now you have a one in the world, unique and functional item that works perfectly in you Dio.

NICE!

Job well done , both the transformation and the dio !!!!!

Great work on the conversion of the rider Bob. Outstanding dio as well. Love the small pond, trees, grass, etc., the whole scene looks very realistic along with the great K&C sets.

Great conversion and great looking dio. Did you repaint the flag as well?

I knew that you paint, but did know that you are able to make such conversion WOW is perfect..Well done my friend....Did you create the arms using regular putty.?

Best
