A couple of months ago, Ed indicated that he was going to sell off his fabulous toy soldier collection and asked me to arrange a final showing for our Southern California toy soldier club. So, last Saturday, about 18 of us showed up at his house to view it for the last time. In addition, to his toy soldiers, which he almost always displays with backdrops or building, he has a wonderful military art collection, too.
Here are some of the attendees: Bill Connolly, a World War II Eighth Air Force B-17 ball turret gunner and the former owner of the Toy Soldier Exchange in Pasadena talking to Gary Fournier, a Viet Nam USMC veteran who makes models (e.g., Hadrian's Wall, the Alamo, etc.) for TSSD and others; Henry Tremblay, the owner of Brookhurst Hobbies in Garden Grove, California, who is now a King & Country and Britains dealer; Ed, a U.S Army World War II veteran who landed in Normandy on D-Day + 3, sitting among some of displays; some of the attendees enjoying the refreshments; and (L to R) Scott Morlan, retired High School teacher who was one of the founders of the West Coaster Show, Ed, still recovering from recent surgery, and Mark Young, USC Business School professor.
