I personally bought very little at last week's London show. Found a couple of very cheap Iron Brigade figures to swell the ranks and this unboxed Cavalry Sergeant. Dealer wanted £20.00 but I noticed the figure's pistol barrel was completely bent back on itself. Pointing this out to the dealer I then got him for £15.00 (about 10 US bucks).

During the Brit Brigade liquid lunch we tend to show each other our buys of the day and all agreed mine was the "deal of the show". When I got him home, sure enough and as expected, attempting to bend back his gun barrel it snapped off. Much akin to the mounted Gray Ghost purchase from last December's show this mounted trooper now became a prime candidate for a mini conversion.

Arm removed; pistol ground off, new arm and hand molded; carbine removed and saved and all colour yellow references of a cavalry trooper re-painted over with Union blue and light blue to remove his pants stripes. End result:- a more versatile mounted infantry sergeant cum courier cum officer's aide. He still requires another coat of matt varnish and then he'll be ready to re-enlist.

nice job Reb...

and you sure can't beat the price...

he will look good on your table...

Nice dio....err .....conversion :)
Actually, with the horse going h3ll for leather and the trooper looking out to the side, and with his restructured arm / hand, the pose would look good with a smattering of red as though he's just been shot in the leg.
Hope you didn't have to dust off too many of your spanners to carry out the conversion {sm4}

Cheers,
Simon

Bob,

Great conversion on the figure.... not so great conversion on the current exchange rate between pounds/dollars. {eek3} Really cost you about $22+. {sm4}

Superb conversion Bob. I know you've been wanting a courier fig. Chris

Bob, I debated whether to even comment on the math error, but being the fine fun loving chap you are, I figured you wouldn't take it the wrong way :)

Again, great conversion and I always love viewing your work. Hope to see some of your scenes in the near future.
