Making time tonight to see what my new photographic lights are capable of doing. I can already see more depth in the photos and better focus (especially the second photo) . . . and very little unwanted shadows . . . . Here are several photos featuring 2 sets of WB ACW #51001 "Hasty Works"
:) Mike

I see what you mean now Mike, picture 2 is very nice indeed, so are the other two. I like the 3rd shot giving us a semi overhead view...cornfields look great. Keep on playing :D

Looks good Mike!

Put your camera on a tripod if you can and use the largest f-stop number (small apature size) you can. The smaller the appature, the geater depth of field and it will all be in focus. The larger the value the smaller the opening. Each increment halfs the size of apature opening - So as you move toward f/22 the greater the depth of field will be AND the more light you will need.

1.4 2.0 2.8 4 5.6 8 11 16 22

If the camera has aperture priority, use that. It means you set the f-stop, the camera takes care of the shutter speed.

Thank you Scott - you can be sure I'll keep on playing, especially with my new lights.

Great photos Mike!:) BTW, what brand of lights do you use?

Regards,
Jake

Thanks Jake. I ordered these lights through Amazon.com. They are ePhoto, Inc's "3 Photography Video Photo Portrait Studio Umbrella Continuous Lighting Set" which came with 45W 5500K 120V RoHS bulbs.

Thanks Donnie for the good advice. My next step is to hopefully get a camera that can do that. Right now I am using an inexpensive Vivitar "Vivicam 6326" 6.0 Mega Pixels, "point and shoot" automatic camera with zoom. I also want to get a camera tripod. Last night I was looking at better cameras on the internet. My dilema is, do I get a new camera with a tripod or do I get more TS :D;)

These are superb, Mike...the pics are very clean...indeed, everything on the diorama looks great, clear...excellent lighting. It helps that you haven't got a dud piece on the board!

Lighting is paying off Mike an showing it's benefits in the outcome of your photos.

Looks really good Mike. You are a man of many talents.

What do you mean do you buy a tripod or more TS??????

You know full well you'll get both and continue ad infinitum with the latter :D

Mike...I agree with Scott...your second picture is one of the best you have ever posted...your skills combined with the new lighting and tripod are paying dividends...I'm sure there are many more great shots to come...

OK, here's how you do it. The tripod comes from a different budget line. It comes from the "family" budget line. Get it so as to take pictures of the grandkids, family Christmas etc. Talk about wanting to use it at the next family BBQ. Anything but toy soldiers! Besides, all you need is a simple tripod, and they are pretty cheep! So, buy both!
All the Best,
Ericka

Good as always mike.

Mike... you can't go wrong picking up a tripod. You will never know how you got along without it once you have it!

Thanks again one and all - It seems that the majority opinion is "get a tripod"
