AJs Collection (2 Viewers)

Magnificence in miniature! I can only imagine how many hours in takes to paint a big, complex piece to this level of perfection. Thank you for sharing the photos of this wonderful piece of art AJ; I'm really enjoying them. The walking figure with the beautiful shield and spear is a perfect companion to it. Your collection is fantastic!

Thanks for the kind words Louis Zach and Joe!
It's amazing how every howdah is a little different.

I will try to get shot of the rest of my Indian pieces - attached is a nobleman with flag from medallion miniatures.
I only have a few others from this company - I think they make very interesting figures - are they still in business?

The figures in your collection are stunningly awesome!!!

I can't get over the detailed paint job.....pure artistry at its finest.

Congratulations on such a colorful collection of figures and for sharing them with us.

AJ,
That's a nice piece by Medallion Miniatures. They made a lot of very interesting, ornate mounted pieces. I never got to see their figures in person though. They'd often sell at the Chicago show, but I've never made it there. I don't know if they're still around. I think they were a husband and wife team, both lawyers I believe. Thanks for the photos. I'll try to post a few pictures tonight.

Joe

Thanks Robin, Joe, Mark and Mark!

These two figures round out my Indian pieces:

Another from Medallion Miniatures - Moghul with Standard - thought the flag was very different

Moghul Prince Aeroart/Sineus

Lastly - a shot of the whole grouping

AJ, Both mounted pieces are extraordinary! I love the triple panel flag and shield on the MM piece. The Sineus figure is really special too. Your Indian figures all have such beautiful colors. Thanks for sharing the photos!

Grenada 3168.4/3171.2 - King of Denmark fighting Sword Brethren Crusader.

I think Grenada has some of the most interest vignettes - they did a number of versions of this scene with different heraldry -it took me a long time to find this one - and had custom flag done as this came without the broken off lance in the shield of the crusader - happy the way it turned out. Would like to earn about this part of history as had no idea the danes fought the crusaders?

Yes he died in battle on is way to Jerusalem during the first crusade, fightin against the Turks in 1097
And as reminder there was no templar during the first crusade but all participants had a cross sewn on the left of their surcoat but wearing their classic dress . The colour of the cross was depending of their origin .
And for reminder, on their way to Jerusalem, crossing Europe they killed in masse the Jude of Spire WOrms, Magenza, Köln, Metz etc ...
And fightin some Prusian noble who were not catholics enough .

But; very nice pieces you have there

I've always loved the heraldry of the Danish king. That flag and figure is fantastic! I'm glad you found one! It's so exciting to find something like this that you can now cross off your wish list.

Joe

Thanks Joe - I agree - have always thought that heraldry was interesting.

Thanks for the info Mirof

Another Grenada set that took me a long time to find- 3223/3224 - Teutonic Knight charging Lithuanian Noble - Battle of Grunwald 1410

Hard to photograph but hope you enjoy

Areoart / Arsenyev EW 3 - Henry VIII

Classic piece but I had never seen it painted like this - seems like the reins are different and his saddle and coat is painted different from other versions - maybe a prototype?

In answer to your question they are still in business. Last year, they made me a figure of Hernan Cortes. I just have not gotten around to posting it. Three or so years ago, I purchased Juan II of Castilla. Juan served as King until 1454. His second marriage was to Queen Isabella of Portugal and this union produced two children, one of whom was Queen Isabella of Castilla who married Ferdinand of Aragon.

They have also made a beautiful figure of Carlos V (Charles V), King of Spain and Holy Roman Emperor, in parade armor and carrying his parade flag, circa 1540. I have not ordered it yet but may.

Charles I of Spain as Charles V of the Holly Roma Emprire
A very beautifull figure
I remember painting a landsknecht wearing the empire colours of the time ( Barton 54mm )

Thanks for the info Brad - do they have a website?

Mirof - great landsnecht!

AJ,

They don’t. In fact, at the Chicago Show they don’t permit photos. However, I think they’re selling on eBay. If it’s them, their eBay name is coffeeurn and here’s a link to one of their items, https://www.ebay.com/itm/224149700609
