Alma Figures Crimean War - Gloss and Matt (1 Viewer)

Cheers Guys! I'm awaiting the next phase of figures to arrive from Michel so meanwhile I've got some Blue Hussars to paint.

Thanks

Jeff

Bonjour mon petite pois :D..........just preparing myself for the new recruits that arrived in the post today - French Zouaves

Can't wait to start on these but first Michel needs to determine which head will be used, Fez or Turban?

Hi Jeff,
I think turbans would be nice !
Michel

Another wonderful job on the British Infantry, Jeff.
The colors are especially superb.
I was hoping to see you painting the Zouaves and am very glad that they are on the workbench now.
Looking forward to see them come alive.

Well not alive - but cleaned and assembled.

Those are beautiful castings. Seem to be very, very detailed.
This is going to be good!

Konrad, I agree, the detail on these figures really make the painting a bit easier, it would seem the French carried everything bar the kitchen sink!

Jeff,
I guess you already mentioned it in some thread, but what do you use as primer ?
I seems to coat the castings so well.

Michel,

I use this car product, I find that a few light coats sprayed from varying directions to cover the figure completely gives a nice smooth finish.

Hi Michel,
could you tell us, from which book this colorplate is?
Is it a German book about the Crimean War or is it generally about French Troops?
Thanks for any info.

Hello Konrad,

I found that plate in the 'Vinkhuijzen collection of military uniforms' that is online at the following url :

http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgtitle_tree.cfm?title_id=269277&level=1&tword=

This particular plate is in the France, 1856-1857 section.

There are 1000's of military uniforms pictures of a large selection of nations ranging from middle-ages to around 1900.
And it looks like they are still adding pictures as I've found recently pictures I think were not there when I first visited some months ago.

Great source ! I think I've already seen it mentioned in another thread.
