I would imagine that along with Toy Soldiers, historical books and films, general military related collectibles that firearms (both historic and modern) are popular among some forum members. Just a guess but seems to be logical.

So who is a firearm enthusiast? Lets see some pics!

Count me in start. Here are a few of mine

My favorite handguns, 1911s of course!

AR15 18" Barrel 6.8SPC Caliber (I have a 1x4 scope on it now instead of the 3x9 pictured)

AR15 16" Barrel 5.56mm (I have a Trijicon Tri Power Optic on it now)

A overstuffed gun safe (I need a bigger one!) it's jammed with ammo, mags and firearms. The 20" AR15 pictured is my favorite AR15 I own, almost just like the M16A2 I learn to shoot in the Marine Corps :)

Very nice spread of 1911's...

Joe

Thanks, they are an addiction. I have one more on order from Wilson Combat, been waiting since Feb 2012 for it! It will be my last one I think, too expensive a hobby!!

Lol no just the inevitable Zombie invasion!

Honestly I just keep buying over time and it builds that way. Much like toy soldiers I think!

AR15s are just plain fun to build so I keep buying parts and building them. Sold two last year to family members that I built last year. It a fun hobby in and of itself really. Man Barbies are what they really are. :)

Beautiful group of 1911's you have. Also my favorite handgun. I have had several, always in .45ACP. Never owned one in any other caliber. Currently have only one left, my very first, and it was my father's during WW2. It is a 1943 Colt in about 95% original parkarized finish. And you are very right, it is an expensive hobby. -- Al

I bet it is a awesome 1911. The family ties to it are worth more than any money value of course. The fact that it is a WWII era piece of the American arsenal that helped secure freedom across the globe is very cool indeed {sm4}

Sorry but i don't get it............^&confuse

I was asking if anyone here had a strong interest in firearms. It would seem to me that many who have a interest in military history (as most on here clearly do) would also have a interest in firearms. Those two issues seem to relate to me. I was just seeing if that ideal had merit :)

Sorry mate i understand your question just not the need to own a arsenal,but has nothing to do with your thread so i apologies.

Certainly has merit with me. I have been fascinated with the triad since I was a kid. Military history, military firearms, toy soldiers, all go together for me. I never could have had an interest in any one of them alone. Besides, it is a lot of fun to strip a 1911.:wink2: -- Al

Count me in, enthusiast since I was a little kid. It all does seem to go together, guns, militaria, hunting, toy soldiers. Of course now in NY we can not own any of the fun stuff. Hope to move to a free state some day!

No need to apologize at all. I mis understood your post. I own too many guns & ammo, books, DVDs, video / computer games, and trying to own too many toy soldiers! I tend to go excess on my interest {sm4}

And just like the other items above there really is no "need" per say to own so many firearms. But as mechanical devices they are really interesting to me. How to improve and personalize them to my exact liking really is a hobby. Especially firearms like 1911 and AR15 that are so customizable, much more so that most other models of firearms. Finding the right mix of parts to make it feel "just right" is a quest really. Plus shooting is a great time. Like Golf it can never be mastered, you have good days and bad days. It can be a rush of pride or very humbling {sm4}

They certainly have their practical purposes as well IMO.

I think a batch of reproduction firearms is next on the list.

This one makes me drool...

Come on down to Tejas, we have plenty of land, jobs & freedom {sm4}

And pretty good food, beer and nice looking women to boot!

I have an ARSENAL of shotguns. I love clay target shooting and so do my wife and son. I suppose like golf clubs, you need a different CLUB for different sport shooting. My Beretta 12 GA over under full choke, is fine for Goose hunting and long range trap, it's NOT a skeet gun where targets are close, fast and moving laterally 2 at a time in different directions.It's possible but a huge handicap. Like wise my 20 GA skeet over under is useless for trap .
I usually take 3 different shotguns with me for a day at the range shooting different events. Wife has several to suit her smaller frame, and my son has 3 of his own.Plus there's the old 410 varmint gun for around the farm.
Several deer rifles, a couple more pump shotguns I practically wore out waterfowling in my youth { I went duck and goose hunting every chance I had}, several .22, and a repro 1861 Springfield rifled musket.Plus granddaddy M1 Garand . The last two, simply classic legendary American Military rifles. A must have .
No handguns. Just never was a fan, really don't need one I guess.
The arsenal all snug in a Liberty Centurion 30 gun safe.
40 years of sport shooting,the collection just grew.
Fub

The favorite pistol in my collection is my Colt Python, 6".
My favorite rifle is the Ruger mini 14.
I also have an antique Marlin Ballard 32 rimfire.

I currently have three firearms that I cannot fire since there is no ammo around here! waaaaaah

I own a couple of Martini-Henrys and a M1911 pistol.

Last weekend I was at the range with a couple friends firing a M1 Garand. Thinking of picking one up.

I plan on shooting the M-Hs oneday.

Brian
