Tanks AL,didnt notice the Heer Insignia, got too carried away with WSS160 and didnt read the caption correctly, cheers ken
Wow guys,I must have been reading another thread because this is an excellent dispatch for me.I think perhaps because we saw them at the westcoaster we are not counting the superb Arnhem and D Day releases, great Paras and Rangers(what an in depth and excellent group of Rangers-will look so good in an LCA),throw in a Tiger and Firefly and what more could you want. The new Panzer crew look nice too.Speaking only for myslf you understand,I am always happy to see another Tiger,in any of its many camo schemes.
Arnhem,D Day,Naps,Alamo,SOHK,WW1 Turks, sorry guys it looks a pretty varied and indepth dispatch to me.
Rob[/QUOTE Agree with this appraisal. Love the new Tiger. What a wide and varied release. -- Al
As a rivet counter aside, WS160 may or may not be correct for Das Reich Westfront operations. The Italian camo pants were issued to 12th SS although it is perfectly possible some ended up in other units, especially 1st SS. Have never scene evidence that the Italian camo unis made it to the Eastern front at all, but I can't confirm this, either. Perhaps some uniform expert will know? -- Al
Thanks, Nasirkasmani. I knew someone would know the answer. I think you are also correct that the Italian camo wouldn't have been at Kursk. -- Ali'm no expert, but here's my 2 cents -
maybe not for Kursk, but there's a possible chance that Das Reich got some supplies.
The widespread use of Italian Camouflage cloth by soldiers of the German Reich coincided with the 1943 disarmament of the Italian forces. Both 1.SS-Panzer-Division “Leibstandarte SS Adolph Hitler„ and 12.SS-Panzer-Division “Hitler Jugend„ participated in the process, & it is perhaps no surprise that members of these two divisions were — to judge by wartime photos — the most conspicuous users of Italian camouflage material.
Following the capitulation and disarmament of most of the Italian armed forces in 1943, stocks of Italian material were used by Germany to meet the increased demand for equipment in the face of the slowly deteriorating wartime economy. The German armed forces not only issued already existing stocks of Italian shelter halves and ponchos, they used the Italian camouflage material to make a wide variety of uniforms and field gear items. Many uniform items were tailor made or theater made including tunics, smocks, trousers, coveralls and caps, but the material was also used to make some standard issue items such as M31 zeltbahns and fur lined anoraks/parkas (typically made out of mouse grey material). An important thing to note is that items made using Italian camo material were used by all branches of the German armed forces serving in the Italian theater of operations (Heer, SS, Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine).

though Das Reich did not serve in the Italian theater, i felt there's a possibility, some Das Reich units may receive them anyway.

Wayne, my dear friend are you mocking me and having a little fun or do you think that this justifies the price? and, yes you can have too many Tigers as variety is the spice of life and, K&C must realise that not all its collectors are affluent and, professional they are normal people and, do not have money to burn especially, when the items are released on a regular basis.
As a new collector I've been waiting for awhile for a new Tiger to be released, I'm a little dissapointed in the price @ $215 though.
Not sure what to spend my money on now, as there are a couple of Tunisian Tiger's for sale on Ebay right now that around the same price. Also, the King Tiger is only $10 more, why not just get that one...
Anyone else have an opinion on this?
Spot on Terry! If you are going to get only one get the one you like best and for the region you like - especially if you have some other AFVs to go with it. The Tunisian Tiger is limited to North afrika. The new Kursk Tiger is good for the middle part of the eastern front. The King Tiger (BBG016) has the classic ambush camo pattern good for western front and Battle of the bulge. I think that one is 1:30 and King Tiger WS067 has an urban camo pattern for late war fall of berlin, but I think it is 1:32 scale. I can check for you if you are going to go in that direction.

Having now had a chance to scroll through the entire thread, its been a little disappointing to read so many negative comments about the up and coming releases.
I completely agree that to keep the hobbie interesting you need to release new, improved and diverse items regularly at fair prices!
I'm sure Andy and the team work hard to try and acheive this.
I'm sure its a balancing act when you've got such a wide range of collectors to cater for, from around the globe, with varying degree's of cash to blow.
The new Tiger looks superb!
No offence to you serious collectors, but there's a heap of us little guys out there who haven't had the pleasure of owning one yet.
Keep doing what you do Andy.
Spot on.There will alwas be some collectors who don't own a Tiger yet and would like to do so,and you can bet your life if it wasn't released others would be saying why no Tiger?.You just can't please all the folk all the time.
As for the Firefly, this is a vehicle we've been asking Andy to make for sometime and here it is,superb looking AFV and will have pride of place in my armour, another example of K&C listening to its customers.
The quality, depth and range of K&C products is in my view unmatched, and speaking for myself and my collection this is one of the best dispatches ever.
Now I just have to try and find some more money!
Rob
AND no pressure to buy you have time to plan and save you gotta love that about K+C..................
Cannot understand why it has been disapointing that some negative comments are on here. It makes a refreshing change from the mutual admiration that goes on here and, I for one believe, that we can be critical about the hobby and what comes out without it being a court offence.
Regardless about what you think about the blog it still stands critique. My original comments were that we go down the same road at ease, attention etc. The two tank aces are good poses but, my disapointment is that the personality figure is saluting and, for SS why the colour mix for the uniform piping?. Panzer pink and white to resemble silver.
It certainly has hit a nerve for many collectors on here about the rapid price change and, at £215 in the UK means many will not be able to afford it or, will have to miss out on other things. It just does not warrant that price regardless of who makes it and, how much you do not want to upset K&C on both sides of the world by talking about price. Knowing qiute a bit about costings for AFV's and figures there is masses of profit here and, it could easily have been a similar price to the Firefly etc. I thought K&C had turned a corner with AFV's bt releasing the Panzer II without those horrid italians and, the panzerIII at a really attractive price but, the clamour for the Tiger seems to attractive to increase the price. Surely, when you see things like the SL's hanging around and not selling out from both K&C outlets you have to start thinking about price compromise. Surely, it is better to sell more at less than less at more??
Anyway, this does not detract from the fact that I still will collect K&C but, will look harder at other manufacturers when I would not normally do so.
Don't you mean "the days of the £200 Tank are gone"Also there is another eight months of the year, plenty of time for K&C to visit all its ranges. As for prices its always going to arouse strong emotions isn't it,but taking a look around prices are up everywhere,I'm afraid the days of the £100 Tank are gone.
