Arnhem pathfinders now available to buy (2 Viewers)

I can see more detail on the new "P" figures in the camo smock, there's more colours for starters, in my humble opinion!

I think Mitch sums up my feelings on the Pathfinders very well. As an avid collector of OMG I still wish my series hadn't been P'd on. {eek3} I'd add that they are still very nice figures which I like very much however much like other competitor premium figures I will admire them via pictures only. I'm priced out and think that the added detail doesn't justify the price. If I didn't own most of the existing series I suppose I'd have to have these, luckily that is not my plight. As another poster indicated if a pose/figure comes up that I just have to have I'd likely pull the trigger and get it but we are in VERY SELECTIVE territory here. I consider myself a mainstream collector and if I'm not buying into this change I have a hard time believing this venture will prove successful........time will tell. :(

Thanks Marc, my eyes are shot these days, but these appear to blend in very nicely.^&cool, Robin.

Can someone post a photo that has one of the new ones and one of the old ones. I'd like to see if there is any difference.

The photos in this thread are of new ones and old ones side by side? It's easy to tell them apart. The bases on the old ones have a grey tinge. The bases of the new Pathfinders have a yellow/brown tinge. There are differences in the painting of the figures themselves but they seem to go together with no problem

Brad,
You have already seen them.

Marc has put up 3 photos showing old and new.

Photo at post 31 shows two old (2 and 4th from left) and two new.

Photos at Post 38
show three guys in beret - middle one is MG16 the older release, other 2 new.
guy on bike new and guy standing firing is old.

Hope that helps.
Regards
Brett

Yes, thanks Terry. The fact that I asked the question seems to answer the question. Although I would like to see them side by side in person (which may not be possible until September), I'm not seeing much of a difference, certainly nothing that would compel to pay a higher price for apparently negligible differences. For example, the officer holding the map was one of the best produced in the range and I find it difficult to see how the quality of that figure could be improved.

Res Ipsa Loquitor
Mitch

I understand your point but res ipsa loquitor (the fact speaks for itself) is a common law negligence doctrine that is inapplicable here.

These are marketing materials; they're supposed to look good.

Notwithstanding, I still want to see them in person and -- reluctantly (because of the price) -- pick up one or two. I actually don't have room in my Arnhem Dio for more than that.

I feel exactly the same way Jazzeum. The crouching Bren gunner looks really cool and I like the PIAT operator, other than that because of price and my existing collection nothing else will be considered. :wink2:

Brad...

it was not the doctrine I was putting across as Law and fact has absolutely no relevance here but, the words were, the first thing that came to mind when I saw the pictures and, for reason plainly stated before so, I don't offend the ad nauzzeums. I perhaps should have elaborated but, the meaning was rather clear and, its not because I am this silly tall poppy nonsense or a K&C hater et al.

I agree the new Bren gunner looks a nice pose but, then I think all the new poses are good its just the pricing V the new alleged P level. I think when you make such a departure and such a bold statement then really it should be blatantly obvious such changes in ''sculpt'' and ''paint detail'' In fact I would say that some of the older paintwork looks better.

Bit of a shame at the end of the day really
Mitch

A few comparison pics of a previous MG figure and a New Pathfinder figure. To start out the box for the Pathfinders is improved greatly being of the thick cardboard with removable top box cover much like FL uses. This along with the hard foam cut out should prevent 99% of any damage which may possibly be incurred during shipping. As far as getting down to the "Nitty Gritty" the Pathfinder does have improvements easily recognizable with the naked eye.
To start with on the Pathfinder figure the Sten Gun has deeper cuts and shows more detail than the regular version. Also the facial detail is improved with skin color tints and a light 5 o'clock shadow look replicating a combat soldier
not being able to shave for a day or two. The hand detail is improved and carries the same skin tone hues as the face of the figure. The Pathfinder uniform does look as clean as new but shows the detail of the camo pattern on the uniform
which looks a bit more crisper than the previous MG releases. Also to note the production run is lower on these Pathfinders than the regular figures. Not quoting any particular names but 2 K&C dealers at the Texas show mentioned Pathfinder numbers being made are close to half of a regular production run figure from K&C from the same OMG series. Seeing the complete set Friday evening my mind went straight to deciding which one figure I was going to pick up.
The poses and painting are very tempting. It comes down to each individual to buy some, none, or all.

Disregard the MG026 label on the standing LT figure. Same box type

I suppose it is obvious to those that know the line but which ones are the new ones?

First photo, outside 2 figures are the new ones, second photo, cyclist is the new figure.

Cheers
Simon

Saw these for first time in London on Sat and they look much better up close than they do in pics (as is often the case). I very much liked what I saw and will be getting these myself in September.

I very nice to hear that!!!!, but I would rename these figs from "P" to SOS (same old ****) :wink2::wink2::wink2::wink2::wink2::wink2:

Got my first order of the Arnhem Pathfinders. They are OUTSTANDING....... I hope we see more to come.
I also like the new packing as well. Hope this is the new future for the packing of figures. This seems to keep them more secure than the old packing. Have had problems with the older packing coming apart.
Hopefully there will more in the way of Arnhem German figures and vehicles as well. Maybe a camo 251?
