Early on during my walking around at the 2012 OTS Show on September 23 I took a photo of a Sudan War diorama that had a nice backdrop. While taking a photo of it I was advised by the mother of the of person selling at this table (David Bonick) that it is the diorama backdrops that they are selling at this table! I soon decided to buy one and indeed it looks really great as a replacement for my plain medium blue poster board paper backdrop that I used a month plus ago when I posted photos of my K&C sets showing a U.S. Army 4th Cavalry patrol being attacked by Comanche Warriors in western Texas in circa 1866. I think this new backdrop really helps make my above noted diorama look all the better. Please see 4 new photos of my revised diorama below.

Gary,

The backdrop is just great. It really enhances your display of the 4th Cavalry vs the Commanche.

Treefrog also has this manufacturer in their inventory.

Raymond :)

Very nice ! Do they have website ?

Traverse Dioramics of Elgin, IL, USA has a web-site, namely: www.traversedioramics.com". This family run busiess only started in early 2010. I paid $30.00 for the two sided 36" wide by 14" high backdrop as an OTS Show special price. Normally they sell for $35.00 USD. Free S&H for orders over $50.00. I hope this date helps you. As "Glossman" has noted in the subsequent posting, Treefrog Treasures also sells these diorama items made by this new manufacturer of scenic items.

Hello Raymond:

Thank you very much for your nice comments! Yes, I was told at the OTS Show by the owner of Traverse Dioramics that they sell thier items to Treefrog Treasures.

Regards, Gary

Wonderful addition and very well composed. Permanent display? I have been tempted by these backdrops, but waiting on dense old growth forest scene.

One of the nicest backdrops I've seen and not a bad price either.

Btw, your dio is rather neat too.

Jeff :salute::

That is a great backdrop Gary {bravo}}......it would be great if there were some on sale at the December London Show :wink2:

I do like your Cavalry versus Comanche dio :salute::

Cheers

Martyn:)

I have one of their backdrops and it works well. This looks to be a newer one.

"Iron", you had a great idea to buy that backdrop....Like in museums you show how important is to have a beautiful landscape behind the scene: it gives deep perspective and it makes precise the situation.
Unfortunately, it is so hard to find them...It would be an idea that TS companies also sell backdrops and not only dio pieces....I guess it would be a good business for them..I would buy for instance.

Excellent backdrop Gary and very nice scene too. Its good to see more and more folk using backdrops in their dio's, it adds realism in my view.

Thanks much Gary, I didn't realize TF carried these. That backdrop is a GREAT addition to your collection.

I want to thank all of the last 10 postings as well as the batch of "like this Thread" log in's! By the way, when I noted to the lady who I talked to at the seller's table at the OTS Show yesterday that I would be interested in a backdrop that would be good for a winter / Battle of the Bulge diorama she noted that they had received this comment previuosly and they are at least thinking of doing doing such a diorama backdrop in the near future.

The nice lady you were talking to is actually the painter of the scenes in the backdrops. I used Traverse scenic items and backdrops in my "Civil War as Big as I can Make it" thread under dioramas.

It is a very nice backdrop! We picked the new ones up in Chicago and I will have them available on the TF website later this week.
