Baseball 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (2 Viewers)

Yeah, the O's can't seem to put it together. At least their starting pitching has been improved. To win games, a team must be able to score, late if need be, and the O's haven't done that either. It's still early and the hitting and bullpen can come around, as long as they don't wait until the all-star break. But, jeez, those late loses are frustrating! -- Al
Arrrrgh! The O's got another good starting effort tonight, but still can't score. 20 runs in 7 games and a 1-6 record as a result. Only 2 total runs in the 7-8-9 innings all year. That won't cut it in the AL East. Things better get better or I smell a managing change, fair or not. O's ownership not famous for patience. -- Al

Can it get much worse??:mad: the Orioles at this pace will be out of the race by the end of April!!! never thought the season was start this bad, last year we had some promising talent, but it seems my O's just can't put anything together, I can't believe how I took it for granted back in the 70s-80s and early 90s that my team would always be in the hunt!!! man..how I miss those glory days...Sammy

This is bad. 1-9 is not even close to what I thought they were capable of. I actually expected a winning record, sucker that I am. To paraphrase a character from Mad Max III, "Firing times here.". For ages, the O's pitching was the problem. Now, they get some decent starting pitching (not all, but some), and, all of a sudden, they can't hit a lick (not some, but all)! As old Charlie Brown would say, "I can't stand it!". -- Al P.S.- At least the Nats are playing o.k.

Hey Brad,

I bet you were singing Meet the Mets last night after that 20 inning marathon! Thats why I love this game you just never know what will happen next. Also hats off to any Rockie Fans for the No Hitter the other day!

Dave

Well, now the Birds are 2-14. Things are not improving. Decent pitching but no hitting what so ever. I can't believe Roberts will make a huge difference to the hitting when he returns. This goes deeper than a one man fix. I haven't given up yet, but I am very disappointed so far. At least the Nats are playing decent ball and the NYY are hot so I am enjoying most of the baseball being played. -- Al

Last night was almost a very special night. If Phil Hughes had only seen that the ball he knocked down was literally right at his feet, he might very well have completed the no-hitter. It was a little disappointing to see the no-no broken up by an infield hit in the 8th inning, but that's baseball. If Hughes can continue to pitch like he has in his first two starts, its going to be a very long season for the rest of the AL East.

It's already been a long enough season for my O's!! and next we have the Redsox/Yankees to play:( and now the Orioles coach tells the media he's tired of covering for the players, I'm sure that will motivate the team..Sammy

Don't worry Sammy, the way the Red Sox are playing, you'll handle them no problem.

The Yankees are another story..........looks like the Yankees are shoe ins for yet another World Series win as between that murders row line up, the pitching and that little league stadium, don't see anyone who can beat them..................YAWN, how wonderful.

Check out the hockey playoffs, just incredible; the only sport where the play goes to another level during the playoffs..............baseball is a snooze fest.

Wow - the Brewers just swept the Pirates in Pittsburgh by a combined score of 36-1.

As a fan of a Milwaukee team that was pathetic for decades...I feel your pain!

If only we could play in Pittsburgh more often!

These bums are starting to get on my nerves. Sitting here watching the bullpen throw another game away against the Red Sox. After this disgrace ends, the Bums...er, Birds, will be 2-16. Another good starting pitching performance wasted by no hitting and no bullpen. I can't wait to see if they will be as bad as the 1988 team that opened 0-21. Go team.:( -- color me a very upset fan (NYY and Nats still going well, so all is not lost)

Well, the bums have gone 5-2 since my previous rant. They just swept the Red Sox (red for embarrassment?), and I think they are starting to put it together. Still getting decent starting pitching and now starting to hit and score. We shall see if the resurgence is real or just an aberration when they play the NYY this week. The bullpen is still a question mark, so we shall see... -- Al

Well Al, I wish you had started screaming at the O's earlier ha!! even with all the stuff that has gone wrong with the Orioles I think we still have a good team as well, we have lost 5-6 games by 1 run, blown late leads to lose, just need to find some consistency with the hitting, and I think we will be alright, as ol' wild Bill use to say at Memorial stadium...'Give me a O-R-I-O-L-E-S!!!!

As I said before, as a Red Sox fan, we've officially hit rock bottom, losing 5-4, 12-9 and 3-2 to the AAA Orioles.

You don't get swept by 4-18 teams.

Period.

Injuries are a part of the game and we are missing 2/3rd's of our starting outfield, but still no excuse for that pathetic performance over the weekend.

They are toast..............

It seems the resurgence may have been a pipe dream. The Orioles are 32 games (20% of the season) in now and have gone 9-23. Not good. They have all but buried themselves and will now have to play great baseball the rest of the way just to get to .500. I doubt they can do it. They still can't score with any consistency. The good news is my other two teams are doing fine, at the moment. Nats are in the race in the NL East and the NYY are doing very well in the AL East. Still a long way to go and maybe, just maybe, the Orioles can play some decent ball and not finish last.:( -- Al

A's pitcher Dallas Brayden (previously only known for mouthing off about A-Rod crossing the back of the mound returning to first base after a foul ball) pitched the 19th ever regular season (Don Larson threw the only post season perfecto for the Yankees against the Dodgers in the 56 World Series) perfect game today. Strangely, he no-hit the Rays, who gave up the last perfecto to Chicago last year. What are the odds of a team as talented as the Rays being victimized for 2 perfect games in as many seasons?

The irony here is after he blew a gasket over A-Rod running across his mound, he said something to the effect of "I'm just a nobody, not a big star like him"............well he's a somebody now.

A-Rod, for all the talent he has, is not too well versed on the do's and dont's of baseball; you don't run across the pitchers mound, you don't yell "MINE!!" running by a guy about to field a pop up so he backs off, you don't slap the ball out of a players hand running to first base like he did in the 2004 ALCS.

Million dollar talent, .10 cent head as the saying goes................

There must be something in the water in Oakland. The Athletics moved to Oakland in 68 (I think) and have 2 perfect games (Catfish Hunter) and 4 other no-hitters since then. Not bad when you consider that the Mets don't have a single no-hitter in their entire history. Of course you can't forget Nolan Ryan who threw 7 no-hitters during his career (and 12 one-hitters) in the same general time frame. Maybe the water in California has something in it. -- Al

It's not just "mouthing off" but there is certain etiquette that you're supposed to follow and he has been know to violate those rules. Rembember when he slapped the ball out of the glove or when he tried to deke the Jays Third Baseman a year or two ago. He skirts these rules and it annoys people.

Did you ever see Jeter doing this? No, he's a classy individual.

Oh please, Brad. The unwritten rule that every pitcher interviewed about it except Brayden and Tom Seaver had never heard of? Watch the replay. One of his feet barely touched the very back of the mound, no where near the rubber. I am no defender of A-Rod, but this guy likes to mouth off.

Sorry Louis but this is long known etiquette and Arod just does this kind of stuff. Again, do you see Jeter or Posada doing this? No. Arod is just a generally classless individual, without much respect for the game.

See this article and see also this one.

The money quote: "The Code is all about respect for your opponent; A-Rod’s supply of that seems to be on the short side."
