Ouch, forgot the game was on. They could be in trouble. The Cards are not the kind of team you want to be down in a best of five series. They may not always look the greatest during the season but they're murder in the post-season.

A disappointing repeat of Game 2 for the Nats in Game 3. Lost 8-0 with the same general problems. Got a bad start from Jackson who put the Nats down 4-0 after 2 innings. Once again the bullpen got torched and once again the Nats couldn't hit with runners on base. In short, a total systems failure. Still got life though. Detwiler gets the chance to save the Nats tomorrow. We shall see if this team can pull itself together. -- Al

They can still pull it out, never over until the last out; that said, they are lucky the series is still going on as the Cardinals blew numerous chances to add runs in game one, not to mention a huge error led to the winning runs, so count your blessings Nationals that you've still got life as they've laid an egg two games in a row.............

Agree. The Braves can't blame anyone but themselves for the loss. They picked a bad night to forget how to field and throw. The Braves committed the fewest errors in the NL this year, but that hid a certain truth. Many baseball analysts felt that the Braves committed so few errors because the infield lacked the range to get to the tough balls, the one that results in a spectacular play or an error. Showed up tonight. Too bad for the Nats because they matched up better against the Braves than they do the Cards. Going to be a tough series for the Nats. -- Al
The last two sentences of the above paragraph seem to be proved true at this point. With Strasburg shut down, The Nats only have 2 right-handed starting pitchers, both of which the Cards have lit up. The Nats could have thrown 3 lefties at the Braves which would have been, theoretically, a better rotation than throwing 2 righties and 2 lefties at the Cards. Now the Nats chances depend on the lefty Detwiler, the #4 starter all season. He can't do much worse than the others. The Cards made mush out of our #2, Zimmermann, and #5 Jackson. Like I said, a tough series. -- Al

Should be an interesting day of baseball, hoping the Giants and Cardinals can pull out wins today.

I see A-rod is back to his old post 2009 playoff self, swinging and missing at everything.

The Yankees wil be fine now that they are back in Williamsport, I'm sure the corpses of Russell Martin and Ichiro will hit home runs tonight, throw the Grandyman in there too, he'll hit one of his epic 315' bombs to right for sure.
Half way through game 4 and SF up 5-2. Looking good. As to the NY game, the O's are throwing their Yankee killer tonight, Gonzalez.:wink2: Well, as much of a Yankee killer as the O's have. I think the O's have a good chance if the 'bad' Kuroda shows up tonight. -- Al

Yes, they are looking good today, raking actually; Panda just hit one to Kentucky, now up 8-3.

And if they hold on today, they've got Cain going in game 5.

Love to see SF take this series, especially now that it looks like the Nats might crap out. If the Nats can't rep the NL, then SF would be fine. -- Al

Top of the 8th O's up 2-1, don't know if I can take to much more drama!!...Sammy

I'll believe it when I see it. You guys have never been able to move ahead of the Yankees in the standings. If you don't win this one it's not happening this year.

Two home runs by the corpse of Raul Ibanez.

Unreal.

Goodbye Orioles.

What a shame as that kid pitched his rear end off.

Just when I was ready to write off the As, they storm back against Valverde to tie the game.

Unbelievable. They beat him. Coco comes through.

Tomorrow (actually today) should be an exciting one for the Bay Area teams.

It's been an unbelievable night for baseball, with two walk off wins.

Can't say much about yesterday's game that is good. Nats got crushed and O's lost a 1 run game in extra innings, a combination that they won all year to build their season of success on. The O's closer, Jim Johnson, who has been lights out all season leading MLB with 51 saves, has picked the wrong time of year to have a bad stretch. He lost the first game in the series and blew the save in last night's game 3. I have to say that I am not really surprised that it was Ibanez that beat us. He has come up with huge hits for the NYY's all season and last night's hits were just the biggest of them. Now both the Nats and O's are on life support, down 2-1. The only good thing at this moment is that the games still have to be played and the opposition still has to record 27 outs, meaning that it ain't over till it's over. No reason both teams can't win today if they can recover their guts from the spirit crushing losses yesterday ( and that O's loss was bad, as it was a won game except for that pesky 27 out rule). At any rate, I am not throwing in the towel. I still believe they can do it. Go O's! Go Nats! I wanna see that B/W Parkway WS. -- Al

Unbelievable is right.

If the Tigers had won last night, that would set up Verlander to go in games 1, 4 and 7 (if necessary). If they and the Yankees win their series, now Verlander can only go in two games, 3 and 7.

Those poor Yankees, they never catch a break.

I hope the Orioles can extend it to five so Sherman Klump has to pitch, thus setting him up in the same way as Verlander, going in games 3 and 7.

I think the reports of Ibanez's demise are greatly exaggerated.:wink2:

He was only in there because A-Rod has sucked so bad in the first three games, Giradi pulls a miracle out of his rear end and throws Freddie Krueger out there and he hits not one, but two home runs.

MLB should commission the Smithsonian to do a study as to how the Yankees manage to get so much production out of fossils like Ibanez, Chavez, Jones, Martin, Garcia, Colon, Pettitte, Jeter, on and on it goes, players on the back nine go to New York and are reborn.

As an Orioles player, not sure how you bounce back from that one and as Al said, your closer is melting down at the wrong time, if he is in another spot like that last night, do the yips set in again for him?
