Good win by the Cards last night. Wainwright was solid and had great command all night. Also, the offense was very good, with hit contributions from every position player. Since the middle of the lineup has been slumping a little, it was nice to see everyone get in on the act. Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but the 3-4-5 hitters will have to pick it up if they want to hang with the Tigers.....

Looks like the NLCS is going back to San Francisco. Giants are up 5-0 in the 8th right now in Game 5.

Zito was the anti CC tonight, he sacked up and pitched his *** off, saving the Giants season, unless the Cards score 5 in the bottom of the ninth to tie, 6 to win.....................

Yeah, Zito was like his old Cy Young-winning self tonight. Good performance to keep the Giants in the series.

I don't care how many times I have seen it in the last few weeks, but the State Farm commercial with Andre Dawson and Kerry Wood is great! It is funny every time! "What year is it?"^&grin

Zito turned himself around this year. It is the first winning season he has had since he came to SF. He has won a couple of big games this season. He wasn't even on the post-season roster when SF won it all a couple years back, so it's good to see him do well. The Cards still have a fight on their hands if SF's other pitchers can step up. -- Al

Well, the bullpen should be rested so they should have no problem there. Of course, the Cards are road warriors to there's no advantage for the Giants there.

Tigers could be facing the same issue they had six years ago, waiting for their opponent.

Agreed, it is comical..................."Andre Dawson?"............."I caught it!!"...........

Don't know what Vogelsong has against the Cards, but he is dominating again, just like Game 2. Giants up 5-0 in the 5th...

Cards just scored one in the top of the 6th, but still got a ways to go. At the moment, it looks like both of these teams seasons will come down to one final game. Jeesh! -- Al

We have a Game 7. Should be a good one with Lohse going for the Cards and Cain for SF. Hope the weather holds up as the announcers said last night that rain was forecast for today. Been a real good series and it is going to be fun to see if SF can complete their comeback from down 1 to 3 in games or whether the Cards can hold on and defend their WS title, again from the WC position. -- Al

As an old Giants fan, hopefully we'll see the heirs of McGraw, Mathewson, Hubbell, Ott, Durocher, Thomson, Mays and McCovey in the World Series.

I would like to see the Giants take it, as well. I am a huge fan of the Giants from the '60's. I grew up with that fantastic line-up that could never quite win it all. Lost the '62 series and finished in 2nd place five years in a row from '65 thru '69. What great players they had. The 3 M's, of course, Mays, Marichal, and McCovey. The Alou brothers, all 3 at the same time. Cepeda, Perry, McCormick, Bolin, Hart, Dietz, Lanier, Hunt, and Bobby Bonds. What a trip down memory lane. I still think Mays was the best ever and Marichal is a very underated pitcher. He actually won more games in the '60's than any other pitcher in MLB, a time when Gibson and Koufax were at their peaks. What great teams. -- Al

Man, this is pretty amazing. Who would have thought this would happen to the Cards. However, if I'm the Giants I just try to keep putting up runs on the board. You can never be too secure with the Cards.

The Giants Win the Pennant! The Giants Win the Pennant!, to steal a phrase from Russ Hodges.

I'm sure all the Giants are thankful but one of the most thankful has to be Angel Pagan. Just a year ago he was with the Mets. One of the most sorrowful must be Andres Torres, who was with the Giants a year ago and for whom Pagan was traded.

Should be a great World Series. Of course, the Giants won't be comfortable until they get down two games ^&grin

Congratulations to the Giants. It was a tremendous comeback and an overwhelming win in Game 7. I am a little surprised that the Cards were so dominated in the last 3 games. After watching them do what they have done in the playoffs the last 2 seasons (especially against my Nats), I expected a much closer final game as the Cards have proved time and again that they are hard to kill. Anyway, it was a great series and both teams should be proud. Now on to the WS. Go Giants! This is going to be fun with the quality of pitching available to both teams. The Tigers are well rested with their rotation in order and set to go. Verlander goes in Game 1 for the Tigers so it has to be advantage Tigers in the opener, even though it is in SF. -- Al

The Giants certainly won this series and in a dominant fashion. To take three in a row is a big deal, but to take three in a row against a team as resilient as the Cards is really impressive. Seems like the Cards just kind of let of the gas after Game 4, knowing they were so close and probably resting on the assumption they would win. Giants stayed in the series though, and their pitching really came to play the last three games. Good luck to the National League Champs against the Tigers!

I don't think the Cards took their foot off the gas. I just think that the Giants pitching dominated, which is what happens in the post season. Look at what they did to the Rangers in the World Series a couple of years ago.

All things being equal, the Giants should win the World Series. I just don't think the Tigers are all that good and their bullpen is atrocious. They have no closer and does Leyland trust Valverde in a big spot? Guess we'll find out. I will say Giants in 6 or 7. The Giants, despite their gloried history, are not known for many World Series Championships (only 5 out of 22 visits) and certainly not in close proximity to each other: 1905, 1921, 1922, 1954 and 2010. Hopefully, we can add 2012 to that number.

That gap between 1954 and 2010 is a real puzzler. I was in agony during the '60's when SF was so close, so many times, but was always the bridesmaid. All those great teams with nothing to show for it. Another WS title would look great for SF. Maybe Willie, Willie, and Juan can help will them to another title.:wink2:^&grin -- Al
